2018 CITM China International Travel Mart in Shanghai

Brief Introduction

China International Travel Mart 2018 (CITM 2018) was held successfully at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from November 16 to 18, 2018. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China (MCT), the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. It was organized by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism and Beijing Sunny Communications Ltd. Spread over a total exhibition area of 57,500 square meters, CITM 2018 featured 2,245 booths, including 1,542 domestic and 707 overseas booths, accounting for 69 percent and 31 percent of the total booths, respectively.

Domestic and overseas tourism institutions participated in CITM 2018 with great enthusiasm, making the fair an arena for domestic and overseas tourism enterprises to promote their image, features, and products.

Among the domestic exhibitors, local tourism departments (bureaus) integrated their unique styles, characteristics, and folk customs into booth design and ardently promoted their respective tourism lines. In addition, globally renowned Chinese enterprises, such China National Travel Service Group, OCT, Chimelong Group, and Tuniu, registered their strong presence at the event. Meanwhile, the overseas exhibition zone attracted a multitude of overseas exhibition groups from South Korea, Japan, the U.S., and other countries, to promote their characteristic tourism products.

Key Features of CITM 

Firstly, CITM 2018 maintained a high degree of internationalization. International tourism organizations, such as South Pacific Tourism Organization, ASEAN Secretariat, and ASEAN-China Centre, participated in the event.

Secondly, CITM 2018 aimed at hot industrial issues and improved transactions. It focused on the new situation, characteristics, and trends of tourism development. To improve its tourism transaction function, it offered online reservation and negotiation service.

Thirdly, CITM 2018 presented a number of colorful promotional activities. Apart from conventional tourism presentations and promotions, Chinese provinces and autonomous regions, including Sichuan and Xinjiang, as well as representatives from various countries and international organizations, including Indonesia, Eutour United, Malaysia, South Korea, Serbia, Thailand, and Qatar, presented their distinctive presentations for promoting tourism on the venue’s central stage.

The MCT highly praised CITM 2018, which also received industry-wide recognition. It maintained its position as Asia’s largest tourism exhibition in terms of level and influence, laying a solid foundation for a successful CITM 2019.
