The First People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province, also known as Kunhua Hospital (昆华医院), Kunming University of Science and Technology Affiliated Hospital (昆明理工大学附属医院), and Yunnan Provincial Hematology Hospital (云南省血液病医院), is a large, comprehensive Grade-A Tertiary Hospital in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including medical treatment, research, education, emergency rescue, and international healthcare services. Historical Development
The hospital’s origins can be traced back to April 1, 1939, when it was first established as the Yunnan Provincial Kunhua Hospital (云南省立昆华医院). In 1992, it was officially recognized as a Grade-A Tertiary Hospital. In 2011, it was designated as the Kunming University of Science and Technology Affiliated Hospital (昆明理工大学附属医院), which further expanded its role in education and research.
The hospital continued to evolve, and in 2014, it led the formation of the Kunhua Medical Union (昆华医联体), which strengthened collaboration between regional hospitals and institutions. In December 2018, the hospital became one of the first in the country to be recognized by the National Health Commission as a multidisciplinary cancer treatment pilot hospital.
In 2020, the Respiratory Regional Medical Center (呼吸区域医疗中心) was established at the hospital, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the East Campus (呼吸区域医疗中心) took place on December 20, 2020. In 2022, the hospital was appointed as the Vice-Chairman Unit of the Yunnan Provincial Cardiovascular Alliance.
In 2023, the hospital continued to make strides with the establishment of the Headache Center (头痛中心), as well as the arrival of the Yunnan Branch of the National ENT Diseases Clinical Medical Research Center (国家耳鼻咽喉疾病临床医学研究中心云南分中心).
