Xiaomatou Mosque in Qiubei County, Wenshan

Historical Background

The Hui people of Xiaomatou Village (小马头村) first settled in Dazhuang (大庄) during the 25th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1845), after being assigned to military camps. They later relocated from Dazhuang and have lived in the current location ever since. The mosque was established in 1943.

The mosque covers nearly 1 mu of land. The main prayer hall is a palace-style brick-and-wood structure with a floor area of 160 square meters. The total built area of the mosque is 380 square meters.

Community and Cooperation

The mosque serves 56 Hui households, totaling 254 individuals. There are 3 imams (阿訇), 5 mullahs (满拉), and 3 mosque directors (学董). The mosque houses 30 copies of the Quran (《古兰经》).
