S23 Pingwen Expressway from Pingyuan to Baozhu

S23平文高速公路(平远-文山薄竹)(薄竹至文山与蒙文砚高速公路共用线路)S23 Pingwen Expressway from Pingyuan to Baozhu.

Pingyuan to Wenshan section of the Mengzi-Wenshan-Yanshan Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the “Pingwen Expressway”) in Yunnan Province is a pivotal component of the “8619” general trunk road network plan. It connects Pingyuan Street to Wenshan Road, serving as a crucial link between various key highways and expressways in Yunnan Province.

Importance

This expressway plays a critical role in connecting the 4th radial line (National Highway G80 Kunming to Luocunkou Expressway) and the 2nd connecting line (Tianbao to Luxi Expressway) within Yunnan’s trunk road network plan. It also serves as a vital link between the provincial expressway (Yanshan to Tianbao Expressway) and the national expressway networks G80 (Guangzhou to Kunming) and G8011 (Kaiyuan to Hekou).

Strategic Significance

The Pingwen Expressway provides the most efficient high-speed route from Wenshan Prefecture to Kunming, the provincial capital. When integrated with the Wenshan to Tianbao Expressway, it forms a key corridor facilitating rapid transit from Kunming to Tianbao and extending to South Asia. This infrastructure project addresses existing challenges of limited transportation routes and capacity in Southeastern Yunnan, thereby stimulating local economic growth.

Continuing through LeLong and Dahongshe, the expressway terminates at Maqiaotan Village in Lao Huilong Town, culminating at AK35+596 and connecting to the Mengwenyan Expressway at K68+000.

Major Engineering Works

Bridge and Culvert Works

The Pingwen Expressway adheres to Highway Class-I load standards, with bridge decks matching the roadbed width. The bridge designs predominantly feature T-beam and hollow slab types. Flood resistance measures include structures for major, medium, and minor bridges, culverts, and small drainage facilities at a scale of 1/100.

  • Total Bridges: 34, spanning 5,070 meters
    • Large Bridges: 11, totaling 4,490 meters (T-beam type)
    • Medium Bridges: 3, totaling 180 meters
    • Small Bridges: 20, totaling 400 meters (hollow slab type)
  • Culverts: 89 planned across the project

This comprehensive infrastructure project aims to enhance regional connectivity and support socio-economic development across Yunnan Province.
