Ningbian Mosque in Zhaotong City

Ningbian Mosque (宁边清真寺), also known as Shiyakou Mosque (石丫口清真寺), is located in Xiaolongdong Township (小龙洞乡), Zhaotong City (昭通市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It was originally built in 1985. The mosque covers an area of 1.8 mu, with a total construction area of 1,500 square meters, including a prayer hall of 96 square meters. The mosque preserves two copies of the Qur’an.

Zhaotong Ningbian Mosque covers an area of 1.8 mu. The prayer hall is built with brick and wood, with a floor area of 96 square meters. The total built-up area of the mosque is 1,500 square meters.

Communication and Cooperation

The local Muslim community consists of 180 households and 780 people, all belonging to the Hui ethnic group. The mosque has 10 imams (阿訇), 35 students of Islamic studies (满拉), and 7 mosque directors (学董). It holds two copies of the Qur’an. Since its founding, notable contributors to the mosque’s educational development include Hu Sihai (虎四海), Hu Liangrui (虎良瑞), Kong Fanyi (孔凡义), Ma Wushao (马武绍), Wang Xian (王现), Ma Wuzun (马武尊), and Ma Xianfang (马贤方).
