Bafangshu Mosque in Huaning County, Yuxi

Bafangshu Mosque (八方树清真寺) is located east of Panxi Town (盘溪镇), in Huaning County (华宁县), across the Nanpan River (南盘江). It serves a newly established Hui community that migrated across the river from Panxi Town after December 1980. The village now comprises approximately 200 households and over 1,000 residents.
As the population grew and the village expanded, the local Hui Muslim community urgently called for the construction of a mosque. The community, consisting entirely of Hui Muslims, belongs to the Gedimu (格迪目) tradition. The mosque houses eight Arabic copies of the Qur’an (《古兰经》).
