More Than a Festival: A Living Cultural Heritage

The Flower Face Festival is not just a party; it is a profound cultural tradition with deep roots.

    • A Thousand-Year Legacy: Originating from an ancient Yi ritual where people smeared pot soot on their faces to ward off evil spirits and pray for blessings. This practice is over 1,000 years old.

    • A Unique Cultural Aesthetic: The festival embodies a distinctive local philosophy: "Revering Black, Celebrating Black, Finding Joy in Black, and Considering Black Auspicious."

    • A Perfect Summer Journey: The festival coincides with the blooming season of Puzhehei's vast lotus fields. Visitors can enjoy a perfect blend of "sightseeing among lotus-covered waters by day and immersing in vibrant ethnic performances by night."

Please Note: The information above is based on the "Flower Face Festival" held in July 2025. As arrangements for major festivals may change annually, it is recommended to check the latest official announcements from the Qiubei County or Puzhehei Scenic Area authorities for the schedule in the coming year.

Travel Tip: While the festival is a highlight, the Puzhehei region, with its karst hills and waterways, is a stunning destination year-round. Feel free to ask if you need more information on general sightseeing, transportation, or accommodation.
