Baofeng Wetland Park

Laoyuhe Wetland Park (捞鱼河湿地公园) is located in Zhonghe Village (中和村), along Huanhu East Road in Kunming (昆明). This wetland park has been renovated to balance ecological functions with scenic beauty. In the past, large-scale lake reclamation projects turned much of Dianchi Lake’s (滇池) wetlands into fish ponds and farmlands, which decreased the lake’s ability to purify itself and led to worsening water quality. In recent years, with the continued progress of Dianchi Lake’s ecological restoration projects, a closed ecological belt has formed. This belt, with an average width of about 200 meters, covers an area of around 33.3 square kilometers, and more than 80% of the region is covered by vegetation. This ecological green barrier along the lakeshore serves to protect the lake, and Laoyuhe Wetland Park is just one of the many wetland parks in this region.

Tulip Wonderland

The tulips planted in Laoyuhe Wetland Park are imported directly from the Netherlands. There are 11 varieties of tulips, including Virelande (维兰迪), Parade (检阅), Blaze (烈焰), Dynasty (王朝), Pink Giant (巨大粉), Avocado (阿夫可), Big Goose (熊鹅), Cocktail (鸡尾酒), Purple Flag (紫旗), Grand Duke (大王子), and World Love (世界真爱). These tulips come in four distinct colors and are currently in full bloom, with a flowering period of 25 days. The blooming tulips provide visitors with an experience akin to a “Fragrant Journey to Holland.”

Transportation to Laoyuhe Wetland Park

• By Car: Drive along Dianchi Road (滇池路) and turn onto Huanhu Road (环湖路), or take Kunyu Road (昆玉路) and exit at Chenggong Station (呈贡站). From there, turn onto Tuofeng Street (驼峰街) and continue on Huanhu East Road. After passing through the Qixing Mountain Tunnel (七星山隧道), the park will be on your right about three kilometers after exiting the tunnel.
• By Public Transport: Take Line 1 of the Kunming Metro and get off at University Town South Station (大学城南站). From there, take Bus 222 to Zhonghe Village Station (中和村站), and walk 40 meters to the flower fields.

Dongdahe Wetland Park (东大河湿地公园) is a picturesque oasis located approximately 50 kilometers from Kunming (昆明). This wetland park is the largest estuarine wetland in Kunming City. At Dongdahe Wetland, species such as egrets (白鹭), wild ducks (野鸭), and frogs (蛙类), which had either disappeared or become rare, have returned to the shores of Dianchi Lake (滇池) to settle in the lakeside ecological wetland. Previously known as Dongdahe Wetland Park, it was renamed to Nandianchi National Wetland Park (南滇池国家湿地公园) after being declared a national wetland park.

There is also a long corridor dedicated to the popularization of knowledge about animals and plants. According to available data, this wetland park is rich in flora and fauna, featuring six types of vegetation groups and twelve vegetation sub-types, with a recorded 223 plant species.

From the line 4 terminal stop, it is about a 500-meter walk to the shore of Dianchi Lake. This location boasts 53 kilometers of lakeside shoreline, perfect for a leisurely stroll while quietly enjoying the sunset reflecting off the water, allowing you to slow down time, escape the city’s noise, and savor moments of tranquility.

Second Stop: Haigu Fang (海沽坊)

Feeling tired? Come rest at Xingwang Village (兴旺村) inside the wetland park, where you will find a farmhouse restaurant called Haigu Fang (海沽坊). To reach it, walk 400 meters straight from the right side of the Xingwang Village Committee. A must-try dish here is the Copper Pot Fish (铜锅鱼), a perfect combination of fresh fish and copper pot, with flavorful broth and tender fish that is refreshing and enjoyable.

Wujiatang Wetland Park (五甲塘湿地公园) is located in the Guandu District (官渡区) of Kunming City (昆明市), Yunnan Province (云南省), specifically within the Liu Jia Township (六甲乡) and Xiaobanquiao area. The park stretches from the Baoxiang River (宝象河) in the south to the Wujiatang River (五甲河) in the north, and it borders Dianchi Lake (滇池) to the west. Covering an area of approximately 1,300 acres, it is equivalent to the size of four Cuihu Parks (翠湖公园). Overview of Liulin Beach

Liulin Beach (柳林沙滩) is a scenic spot located in Chenggong District (呈贡区) along the eastern shore of Dianchi Lake (滇池) in Kunming (昆明). This area is known for its abundance of fish and rice, symbolizing prosperity.

At the entrance to Dou Nan (斗南) facing the lake, specifically in the area around Cailong Village (采龙村), visitors can find a 5-kilometer-long stretch of soft, delicate sandy beach. Detailed Description of the Scenic Area

Chenggong County, located on the eastern bank of Dianchi Lake, is a rich agricultural area known for its bountiful fish and rice production. The road leading from the northwest of the county town connects to Dou Nan Village, which further leads to the picturesque Liulin Beach. The beach itself stretches gracefully along the lakeshore, providing a serene atmosphere that attracts many visitors.

Flower Market Near Dou Nan Village

Adjacent to Dou Nan Village is a large expanse of farmland where various flowers are cultivated. This area boasts the largest wholesale market for fresh-cut flowers in the country, where large quantities of blooms are sold daily to markets both within and outside the province, as well as to international destinations.

Transportation Tips

Visitors can take Bus No. 12 from Kunming (昆明) to Chenggong County. From there, they can switch to a minibus heading to the northwest of the county town, reaching Dou Nan Village. Traveling west from Dou Nan Village will lead directly to Liulin Beach.

Before the completion of Yongchang (永昌)Wetland Park, it was Yongchang（永昌） Fish Pond. It was located in the south of the Dianchi Kunming Resort （滇池旅游度假区），the Chuanfan river （船房河）in the south of the mouth, and was adjacent to the Caohai lake（草海）. The original Yongchang（永昌） fish pond was built with earth and stone breakwaters, fish ponds and dams, and built houses. Such a pattern not only cuts off and reduces the lake surface of the Caohai lake（草海）, but also has become a source of water pollution at the Caohai lake （草海）because of the fish pond farming the operation for many years.

In order to improve the ecological environment and water environment quality of Yongchang（永昌） fish ponds, the nearby residents have a livable and comfortable living environment. In 2009, Dianchi Kunming Resort（滇池旅游度假区） will implement the ‘Returning to the lake ’ Wetland Construction Project in two phases. The completion of the 218-mu ecological wetland in Yongchang（永昌）Fish Pond not only serves the comprehensive management and ecological restoration of the Dian Lake（滇池）, but also provides a beautiful ecological wetland landscape park for the general public and tourists.

Yongchang （永昌）Wetland Park is planted with more than 4,800 square meters of small shrubs and ground cover, more than 4,215 trees of arbor, willow, poplar, and leafhopper, and more than 35,336 square meters of aquatic plants such as calamus, sedge, and lotus. There are also 16 landscape islands, planted with hydrophilic vines on the edge of the island to enhance the stability and landscape effect of the island’s waterfront edge.
