Xizhou Town(喜洲镇) belongs to Dali City of Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, located in the north of Dali City. Xizhou Ancient Town is located 18 kilometers north of Dali ancient town, Cangshan mountain in the west and Erhai Lake in the east. There are a large number of Bai folk residence, it is also the birthplace of famous Xizhou Baba. Wandering through the ancient town, looking at the old man in Bai costume, the small shops selling Baba(Baba is Yunnan dialect, meaning the food like a round flat cake and pancake), the Bai folk house and so on, are all full of strong Bai customs and amorous feelings.

How to Get to Xizhou from Dali City(Xiaguan)

Xizhou is not far from Dali Ancient Town. With a distance of about 18 kilometers, if you stay in Dali old town and have leisure time, you can walk or ride a bike to Xizhou ancient town, enjoying the beautiful scenery on the way. Surely, other vehicles are also available.

1. By Bus

You don’t have to go to bus station. You can beckon a passing midibus on the roadside of Xiaguan or Dali Old Town. It takes about 5-8 yuan. About detail information, please ask the driver.

2. By Minibus

There is minibus from Dali old town to Xizhou, costing 7 yuan. The point of departure is Cangshan Gate(苍山门), located at No.5, Yuer Road(玉洱路), Dali Ancient Town, Dali City.

3. By Taxi 

There are many taxis in Dali City. Departing from Dali Ancient Town, the taxi fare is about 50 yuan, and the journey is about 30 minutes. Obviously, taking taxi is convenient and flexible, but expensive.

4. By Chartered bus

Like taxi, chartered bus is easily available around Dali Ancient Town and scenic spots. 

Tips: 

1. It takes 1 hour from Xiaguan to Xizhou. You can go back and forth that day or spend the night in Xizhou and attend local evening party. Then, visit the nearby butterfly spring and other attractions on the following day.

Chuxiong City(楚雄市) is the capital of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture and the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture. Chuxiong City is located in the middle of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, it connects Kunming in the east, Dali in the west and Pu’er in the south, 152 kilometers away from Kunming, 179 kilometers from Dali. National Highway No.320, National Highway No.108, Hangrui Expressway G56 as well as GuangDa(Guangtong广通-Dali) Railway run through Chuxiong City.

How to Get to Chuxiong City (Lucheng Town) from Dali City

Although there is no airport in Chuxiong City, transportation between Dali City and Chuxiong City is extremely convenient. You can take long-distance bus or train from Dali City to Chuxiong City.

1. Long-distance Bus

With a distance of about 180 kilometers, tourists can go from Dali City to Chuxiong City by long-distance bus. There are few long-distance buses departing from Dali Express Bus Station, 4 daily buses at most.

How to Get to Yuanyang County

By Air

At present, there is no airport and flights serving in Yuanyang County. Yuanyang airport is under construction and scheduled to be completed by 2019. By then, flying from Kunming to Yuanyang only needs 1 hour.

By Train

There is also no trains connecting Kunming and Yuanyang. Tourists can take train to Jianshui or Mengzi and then transfer to Jianshui by bus. There are about 2 daily trains from Kunming Railway Station to Jianshui Railway Station, a three-hour journey with one departing at 12:30 and another at 16:08. From Kunming to Mengzi by train will cost about 4 hours and 4 trains are available for your choice(departure at 07:45, 11:02, 12:30, 15:41). 

By Bus

Kunming-Yuanyang

Long-distance bus is the main way getting to Yuanyang from Kunming. There are two bus stations serving in Yuanyang, namely Nansha Bus Station and Xinjie Bus Station. And from Kunming to Yuanyang County , it takes 6-7 hours. 

Currently three direct buses from Kunming South Bus Station(or Kunming Nanbu Bus Station) to Yuanyang Xinjie Bus Station everyday. The first one departs from Kunming South Bus Station at about 10:20, and the next shifts are 12:30, 18:00. 

Kunming-Gejiu-Yuanyang

Tourists can catch a bus departing from Kunming East Bus Station between 7:30 am – 7:00 pm to Gejiu, which takes about 4-5 hours (300km). Then take another 3-hour bus from Gejiu to Yuanyang County.

Kunming-Jianshui-Yuanyang

At Kunming South Bus Station, tourists can take 4-hour long-distance bus from Kunming to Jianshui first. Buses leave every half hour between 7:30 to 16:30, then 17:10, 17:55. Jianshui is a popular tourist destination of Yunnan due to its profound culture. Then take another 3-hour bus to Yuanyang County.

Kunming-Mengzi-Yuanyang

At Kunming East Station, there are about 10 buses running from Kunming to Mengzi. Then take another 3-hour coach to Yuanyang County.

How to Get to Lufeng County from Chuxiong City (Lucheng Town)

This article introduces the transportaton between Lvchun and Yuanyang County. Lvchun County(绿春县) is under the jurisdiction of Honghe Prefecture. Its original name is Liucun(六村). In 1958, when the county was founded, Zhou Enlai(周恩来) named it Lvchun according to the feature green mountain and clear water, four seasons like spring.

• Pass through Luchun County (绿春县), suitable for a short rest.
• Certain sections of G219 have numerous curves; exercise caution while driving.​

Road Conditions:

• During the rainy season (June to September), landslides may occur. It’s advisable to check the weather forecast before departure.
• Gas stations are sparse along the route; it’s recommended to refuel in Yuanyang or Luchun.​

2. Public Transportation (Bus)

Travel Plan:

• Yuanyang (元阳) → Luchun (绿春): Approximately 2.5 hours by bus.
• Luchun (绿春) → Jinping (金平): Approximately 3 hours by bus.​

Notes:

• Limited daily departures: Yuanyang to Luchun has about 2–3 buses per day; Luchun to Jinping has 1–2 buses per day. It’s advisable to purchase tickets in advance at the bus station.
• Total travel time is approximately 6–7 hours, including transfer waiting time.​

3.1 Yuanyang (Xinjie Town (新街镇)) → Luchun (绿春)

• Travel Time: Approximately 2.5 hours
• Recommendation: Arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure. Additional services may be available during holidays.​

3.2 Luchun (绿春) → Jinping (金平)

• Travel Time: Approximately 3 hours
• Note: Limited daily departures; it’s advisable to purchase tickets upon arrival in Luchun.​
