Tianxin Mosque in Yanshan County, Wenshan

Tianxin Mosque (田心清真寺) is located in Tianxin Village (田心村), Pingyuan Town (平远镇), Xian County (现山县), Yunnan Province (云南省). It was originally built in the 10th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1805). The mosque covers a total area of 3,100 square meters and features a palace-style brick-and-wood structure.

Original Construction

Tianxin Mosque was first built in the 10th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1805).

Reconstruction

The mosque was destroyed in 1975. In February 1979, it was rebuilt on its original site. The new structure closely resembles the original in appearance but has been reconstructed using reinforced concrete.

Style and Characteristics

The mosque originally followed a palace-style brick-and-wood architectural design. The newly built minaret is a three-story reinforced concrete building, standing 31 meters high, and adopts an Islamic architectural style.

Main Buildings

The main structures of Tianxin Mosque include the main prayer hall, scripture storage rooms, side halls (used as Arabic classrooms), and the sermon tower.

• The original main hall is 17 meters high, grand in appearance, with a floor area of 620 square meters, accommodating 300–400 worshippers.
• The sermon tower stands over 30 meters tall, constructed as a three-story pavilion with refined craftsmanship.
• Between the main hall and the sermon tower is a quadrangle courtyard paved with stone slabs and lined with stone borders.
• The newly built main prayer hall is a two-story reinforced concrete structure, 28 meters high, with a capacity of over 1,000 worshippers.
• On both sides of the main hall are east and west side halls, housing eight Arabic classrooms, two meeting rooms, and six rooms used as residences and storage.
• The new minaret is a three-story reinforced concrete building, 31 meters in height, designed in Islamic architectural style.
