Jinghong City is located in the southern part of Yunnan Province, in the center of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. It is the administrative center of the prefecture. The geographical coordinates are between 100°25′ and 101°31′ east longitude, and 21°27′ and 22°36′ north latitude. It is bordered by Jinghong County in the east, Mengla County in the southeast, Menghai County in the west, Pu’er City in the north, and Myanmar in the south. The total area is 6,866.5118 square kilometers.
