Geographical Location

Dalishu Township (大栗树乡) is located in the northwestern part of Qiubei County (马关县), Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (文山壮族苗族自治州), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Mabai Town (马白镇) and Pojiao Town (坡脚镇) to the east, Renhe Town (仁和镇) and Muchang Town (木厂镇) to the south, Bazhai Town (八寨镇) to the west, and Wenshan City (文山市) to the north. The township government is located 30 kilometers from the county seat, and the Maba Highway (马八公路) runs through the area, making transportation convenient.

Cultural History

Dalishu Township (大栗树乡) is named after the numerous oak trees (locally known as Malishu) found in the area, with a particularly large Malishu tree near the village. In 1931, the region of Dalishu Township (大栗树乡) was part of the third district of Qiubei County (马关县). In 1940, the third district was renamed Dali Township (大腻乡), and in 1945, it was further renamed Jingxi Township (靖西乡). In 1950, it merged with Bazhai (八寨) to form the third district again. It became a commune in 1959, remained a commune in 1961, and was later separated from Bazhai in 1965. In 1969, the district was renamed a commune, then a district in 1984, and finally became a township in 1988.

Dalishu Township (大栗树乡) is home to more than ten ethnic groups, including Han (汉族), Yi (彝族), Miao (苗族), Dai (傣族), and Bouyei (布依族).
