How to Get to Lijiang City (Gucheng District) from Kunming

Being around 500 kilometers from the provincial capital Kunming（昆明）, Lijiang City (Gucheng District) （丽江古城）is known for its beautiful ancient streets and buildings. It is also one of the most famous scenic areas in Yunnan, which can be easily reached by coach, train and plane.

How to Get to Lijiang City (Gucheng District) from Kunming

1. By Long-Distance Coach

Please be noted, that after you have arrived at the local coach station of Lijiang City（丽江市）, you will still need to transfer by local coach or taxi to Gucheng District（古城区）. However, it is absolutely important for you to reach a deal with the driver or conductor before departure.

Everyday, there will be about 3 coaches departing from Kunming West Coach Terminal（昆明西部汽车客运站）, and the schedule is listed as follows:

This coach terminal can be reached by taking City Bus No. 82; No. 148; No. 153; No. 258; No. 908; No. Z102; No. Z87; No. 80; No. 151; No. 258; No. 268; No. 908; No. C143; No. K41(ranges from CNY 1 to CNY 10), and Airport Express No.919 C (approximately CNY 13), as well as Metro Line 3(can be transferred to at Dongfeng Square Station). The taxi fare from downtown area is around CNY 30 (according to the Chinese Uber, Didi), and expected time of arrival will be around 30 mins.

2. By Regular-Speed Train

Please be noted, that after you have arrived at the local railway station of Lijiang City（丽江市）, you will still need to transfer by local coach or taxi to Gucheng District（古城区）. However, it is absolutely important for you to reach a deal with the driver or conductor before departure.

Everyday, there will be about 4 trains departing from Kunming Railway Station（昆明火车站）to Lijiang City（丽江市）, and the schedule is listed as follows:

3. By Plane

Please be noted, that after you have arrived at the local airport of Lijiang City（丽江市）, you will still need to transfer by local coach or taxi to Gucheng District（古城区）. However, it is absolutely important for you to reach a deal with the driver or conductor before departure.

Still, as this transportation method is much more time-consuming (longer transfer time may apply) and much more expensive, we recommended you to take the regular-speed train instead if you are not in a hurry.
