Pingyuanjie Overseas Chinese Farm in Yanshan County, Wenshan

Pingyuan Overseas Chinese Farm(文山砚山县平远街华侨农场), also known as the State-owned Pingyuan Overseas Chinese Farm, is one of the twelve overseas Chinese farms in Yunnan Province, China. It is located in Pingyuan Town, Yanshan County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, situated at approximately 103°49′ east longitude and 23°42′ north latitude, with an elevation of 1478 meters.

Natural Resources:
The farm has a total arable land area of 7607 mu (about 507.13 hectares), including 2035 mu of fields and 5572 mu of land, primarily cultivating crops such as tobacco and corn. It also includes 430 mu of forest land, with economic fruit trees covering 430 mu. Additionally, there are 6963 mu of other areas.

Historical Background:
In March 1959, the farm was established to settle returning overseas Chinese from Indonesia. Initially known as the State-owned Pingyuan Street Farm, it was later renamed to reflect its role in supporting overseas Chinese. By 1988, the farm was officially transferred to local management under the jurisdiction of Yanshan County government.

Location and Territory:
Located in Pingyuan Town, Yanshan County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the farm is a key transportation hub connecting Yunnan with Guangxi and Vietnam. It is serviced by the Hengkun Expressway, National Highway 323, and the Wenping Second-class Highway, forming a comprehensive transportation network.

Climate:
The farm experiences a subtropical climate, with an average annual temperature of 16.68°C, average annual rainfall of 943.9 mm, and an average of 1937.8 hours of sunshine per year. The area enjoys a frost-free period of 220 to 240 days annually, with significant daily and annual temperature variations and ample sunlight.

Population:
The farm is home to eleven ethnic groups including Han, Zhuang, Miao, Yi, Hui, Jing, and Dai. As of the end of 2005, it had a total population of 3449 people in 1427 households, with returning overseas Chinese accounting for 46% of the population. The farm is administratively structured with a Party committee, administrative body, discipline inspection commission, and various departments overseeing comprehensive functions.

By the end of 2013, all residents were covered by rural social pension insurance, with 2739 participants in rural cooperative medical care.
