Taiyanghe National Forest Park, formerly known as Caiyanghe National Forest Park, means that the sun will never set in the hearts of Pu’er people, and mother earth will nourish and nurture us.

From the torrent to the still water, from the soil to the surface, from the grass to the forest, from the forest to the canopy, there are all kinds of animals. This land is their home. In the area, there are many rivers and gullies, dense forests, and a subtropical rainforest. Black bears, bison, green peacocks, macaques and other protected animals live here.

geographical environment

Located in the southeast of Simao City, Yunnan Taiyanghe National Forest Park is divided into Nanping Town and Yixiang Town, 37 km away from the main urban area of Simao. The whole forest park is about 23 kilometers long from east to west and 9 kilometers wide from north to south, covering an area of 216 square kilometers. It is located at the junction of subtropical and south subtropical zone, with dense forests, crisscross rivers, cool climate, fresh air and a wide variety of animals and plants.

Taiyanghe national forest was invested and constructed by Mekong River Tourism Co., Ltd. in August 2011 and has been put into operation in August 2013.

natural resources

Taiyanghe National Forest Park is located in the transition area between tropical and subtropical, with a forest coverage rate of 94.5%. It preserves the largest and most complete subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest in China.

The dry and wet seasons are distinct throughout the year. The annual rainfall is 1600 mm. The content of negative oxygen ions in the air is very high (the content of negative oxygen ions in the air is more than 30000 per cubic centimeter throughout the year). It has a pleasant climate without severe heat in summer and severe cold in winter. It is really a fairyland and paradise in the world.

There are nearly 1000 species of plants in Taiyanghe National Forest Park of Pu’er. There are precious tree species protected by the state, such as “living fossil” tree collection, Rhododendron grandis and frame catch, velvety longan, Toona sinensis, and precious tree species Michelia pseudoacacia. There are 153 species of orchid species identified through specimen collection, which are called “natural garden”.

Due to the abundant heat, humid climate, dense forests, various forests and rich food, natural nitrate ponds are distributed on both sides of the Taiyang River, which provides a very superior environment for the survival and reproduction of wild animals. There are about 200 kinds of mammals and birds in the area, as well as many amphibians, reptiles, fish and insects. The wild animals under state key protection include bison, bee monkey, grey leaf monkey, golden cat, clouded leopard, otter, water deer, pangolin, giant lizard, great civet, Green Peacock, Sumen antelope, black bear, white bellied pheasant, etc.

It is also the only “Javanese bison habitat” in China, known as the “hometown of bison”.

Main attractions

At present, water, electricity, communication and other facilities have been built in the forest park to meet the needs of tourism project development. In order to achieve the overall goal of harmony between man and nature, we should innovate forms and break through limitations in the display of biodiversity of wild animals and plants, so that tourists can have intimate contact with all kinds of wild animals and plants in the natural environment with ecology as the main body and forest as the basis, so as to fully meet the modern people’s yearning for natural wilderness, and strive for personal experience and deep perception. The main projects of the scenic spot include “rhinoceros seclusion, macaque paradise, fish shadow tracing stream, Alsophila path, hippie ape Peninsula, Osprey playing in the water, Butterfly Valley, traveling panda, hippie bird paradise, orchid garden” ten scenic spots and ethnic song and dance performances. The Taiyang River (yuancaiyang River) basin in Pu’er, Yunnan Province was once an area where rhinoceros were widely distributed. Since the last two rhinos were killed in 1933, no rhinos have been found in Pu’er for 80 years. On July 25, 2010, seven rhinoceros from South Africa went to Yunnan wildlife park to adapt to life.
