Pu’er University

Pu'er University (普洱学院) is located in the southwestern city of Pu'er (普洱), Yunnan Province (云南省), China. It is a public university funded and managed by the Yunnan Provincial Government, with a joint management system between the provincial and municipal governments. The university is part of China's national initiative for the cultivation of outstanding talents in agriculture and forestry and is a pilot institution for reforms in higher education. The university receives support from Minzu University of China (中央民族大学) and Yunnan Minzu University (云南民族大学).

History

The university was founded in 1978 under the name Simao Normal College (思茅师范高等专科学校). In April 1998, the Simao branch of the Yunnan Radio and Television University merged into the institution. In 2012, the university officially changed its name to Pu'er University (普洱学院) with approval from the Ministry of Education.
