The Yangzong Lake was opened to fishing again after an 11-year closed fishing season as the Yangzong Lake scenic area celebrated the second farmer’s harvest festival and the first fishing festival on Oct.15.

During the festival, locals harvested a lot by fishing. A villager called Hu Litao caught a 30-kilogram fish which was the largest fished on that day and dubbed “King Fish”. It was sold at the price of 4,500 RMB (approximately 634 US dollars) in an on-site auction. Hu said that as the water quality of Yangzong Lake has been improved, more tourists will come. Therefore, his family will embrace a promising future.

Meanwhile, various activities were held to celebrate the festival, including ethnic dances, instrument performance and square dances. In addition, agricultural products were displayed.

Located in central Yunnan, the Yangzong Lake is one of the nine plateau lakes in the province. This year’s fishing festival also highlighted the significant effects achieved in improving the water quality of the lake.

In 2008, the lake was polluted by arsenic. In September of that year, Yunnan issued “three prohibitions”, namely, no drinking water from, no swimming and no fishing in Yangzong Lake. Since then, a series of measures have been taken to protect the eco system of the lake. Up to now, a total of 1.6 billion RMB (approximately 224 million US dollars) has been invested to protect the lake. Facilities like sewage interception and wetland protection and others were built. Since June, 2016, water quality of the lake has kept at Grade III for 40 months in a row.

Born in 1943, Long Zhengfu ( Male Hani Nationality), the citizen of Xi Long Village, Bamu Committee ,Yangjie Country, Yuanjiang Hani and Yi Autonomous County, Yuxi City（玉溪市元江哈尼族彝族傣族自治县羊街乡坝木村委会西竜村） is the typical inheritor of Hani Palm Leaf Fan Dance.

龙正福16岁开始向爷爷、父亲学习哈尼族， 熟练掌握各种舞蹈动作套路和技 巧， 以及伴奏的小三弦， 二胡、树叶、唢呐、牛皮 鼓等乐器。 他表演的小三弦伴奏棕扇舞， 受到当地 群众欢迎和喜爱。

Long Zhengfu started to learn Palm Leaf Fan Dance(棕扇舞) from his grandpa Long Baozha(龙保扎) and his father Long Dega(龙德嘎) since he was 16. He is skilled in all moves and skills, as long as various of instruments like three strings, erhu, leaf, suona horn, and cowhide drums. His performance of three string Palm Leaf Fan Dance is very popular among the local villagers.

To make the Hani Palm Leaf Fan Dance inherited and developed, Long Zhengfu got many apprentices. 15 of them had finished apprenticeship. He is often invited to perform in County Arts Activities. Performed in Beijing（北京）, Tianjing（天津） and Shanghai（上海） along with Local Art Troup of Hani Nationality Yuanjiang County, he received audience praise in the performance of Chinese Culture and New Year Arts Festival(中华民族风情游迎春活动艺术节) in Luoyang（洛阳） City Henan （河南）Province.
