Travel to Shangri-La from Dali by long distance bus is available. Shangri-la, which means “sun and moon in the heart” in Tibetan language, is the city under the jurisdiction of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture(迪庆藏族自治州) and the capital city of Diqing prefecture. Located in the northwest of Yunnan province and the hinterland of Hengduan mountain area on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, Shangri-la is the junction of Yunnan, Sichuanand Tibet provinces and also the location of the world natural heritage, three parallel rivers scenic area. 

Dali is one of the earliest cradle of Yunnan culture and has created glorious Dali Kingdom. In this land, Cangshan Mountain, Erhai Lake, Dali Ancient Town and Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple are the representative scenic spots. As the natives of Dali Prefecture, Bai ethnic minority has its unique and charming culture, custom, architecture and festivals, which attracted numerous tourists to visit. Shangri-La City lies about 310 km away from Dali City. Tourists can get to Shangri-La City from Dali very easily by long distance buses.
