Guanlei Town (关累镇) is situated along the national border in the northwestern part of Mengla County (勐腊县), southern Yunnan Province, between 21°32′–21°52′ N latitude and 101°06′–101°29′ E longitude. It borders Yaoshan Yao Ethnic Township (瑶区瑶族乡) to the east, Mengpeng Town (勐捧镇) to the south, Laos to the west, and Myanmar across the Lancang River (澜沧江), with Menglun Town (勐仑镇) to the north. The town has a 74-kilometer border, including 63 km with Myanmar and 11 km with Laos.

Cultural History

Originally named "Mamushu (麻木树)" (later changed to "Mangguoshu (芒果树)" in Chinese), Guanlei Town (关累镇) was historically administered under Banna Mengpeng (版纳勐捧) and underwent multiple administrative changes. In 1971, Mamushu Commune was established, renamed Mamushu District in 1984, then Mangguoshu Hani Ethnic Township (芒果树哈尼族乡) in 1987. In 1996, it was upgraded to Guanlei Town (关累镇).
