Honghe Hani Autonomous Prefecture is situated in the southeastern part of Yunnan Province, neighboring Kunming, the capital city of the province in the north and bordered by Yuxi, Qujing and Pu’er in the northwest, northeast and southwest. It also shares a boundary of 848 kilometers with Vietnam in the south.
How to get to Honghe from Kunming?
There are four trains running from Kunming Railway Station to the capital of Honghe – Mengzi via Jianshui, costing about 4 hours.

From Jianshui and Gejiu, tourists can transfer to Yuanyang by bus.
There are 11 buses running from Kunming East Bus Station to Jianshui and ticket fare is RMB 81.00. The departure time is 07:30, 08:30, 09:30, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:30, 14:30, 15:40, 16:30, 17:40, 19:10, 20:30. It costs about 3.5 hours.
There are 11 buses running from Kunming East Bus Station to Gejiu and ticket fare is RMB 117.00. The departure time is 08:30, 10:00, 11:00, 11:45, 12:15, 14:20, 15:30, 17:15, 18:15, 20:00. It costs about 4 hours.
There are 10 buses running from Kunming East Bus Station to Mengzi and ticket fare is RMB 110.00. The departure time is 08:30, 10:10, 11:25, 13:15, 14:30, 15:50, 16:30, 17:10, 18:10, 20:00. It costs about 3.5 hours.
Currently three direct buses from Kunming South Bus Station(or Kunming Nanbu Bus Station) to Yuanyang Xinjie Bus Station everyday. The first one departs from Kunming South Bus Station at about 10:20, and the next shifts are 12:30, 18:00.
