Shangri-La Bala Gezong National Park is located Northwest of Shangri-La county, 55 kilometers from Shangri-La Airport. It is at the border of Yunnan and Tibet, with a total area of 176 square kilometers. Bala GezongSnow Mountain’s highest peak is 5545 meters above sea level; the lowest point is 2200 meters above sea level, the relative elevation is 3345 meters. Here, the snow mountain is precipitously steep, and the meadows is vibrant with cattle and sheep flocks. This is a magnificent natural scenery of snow mountains, glaciers, canyons, forests, meadows, lakes and fresh air. Bala Gezong National Park is a scene of unsurpassed beauty. The canyons, rivers, rocks, snow mountains, grasslands, lakes and colorful Tibetan folk culture are all within.

It is recommended to rest well before departure, avoid alcohol, and consult a doctor if you have heart, lung, or blood pressure concerns.
Pack layered clothing suitable for changing mountain weather, including a windproof jacket, warm mid-layers, gloves, and rain protection.
Comfortable trekking shoes with good grip are essential, as daily hiking distances range from 8–13 km.
Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, and a hat to protect against strong UV exposure.
A small first-aid kit with altitude medicine, band-aids, and blister care is highly advised.
Since meals may be simple on the pastures, bringing light snacks or energy supplements will enhance comfort.
Mobile signals may be unstable in remote areas; informing friends or family of your travel plan in advance is recommended.
Respect local Tibetan customs, especially when visiting villages or religious sites—avoid loud behavior and always ask permission before photographing residents.
