History

Founding and Early Development

Yunnan Police College traces its roots to April 1950, when it was first established as the Public Security School of the Kunming Military Management Committee by the People's Liberation Army. This institution was tasked with providing basic training to police personnel in the newly liberated region. The school underwent several name changes as it evolved over the years. In 1958, it merged with the Yunnan Provincial Political Cadre School to form a larger institution. This name remained in use until the school’s restructuring and reorganization in the early 1970s.
