Brief Introduction

China International Travel Mart (hereinafter referred as CITM) has been successfully inaugurated at Shanghai New International Expo Center, from November 11 to 13,2016. Co-hosted by China National Tourism Administration, Civil Aviation Administration of China and People’s Government of Shanghai City, this big event is presented by Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, with Beijing Sunny Int’l Communications Ltd engaged as the official operator. The session of CITM has been brought into focus, largely on back of exhibitors in growing number. It encompasses around 106 countries and regions, in a total of 1088 exhibitors assembled at the SNIEC, of whom 598 are domestic, 80 come from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and around 410 are overseas; the sum of booths is 2953 available, among which, domestic booths are 1813 (roughly 70% of the total), foreign ones 780 booths(30% of the total), and the rest are raw space booths, numbered 2224(about 85.7% of the total).

Exhibitors and Buyers Networking is one of the most important events for CITM 2016, and on mission to create a globalized platform that represents face-to-face & one-to-one negotiation and trade among members of the world travel community. Brief Introduction

The 2015 China International Travel Mart lasted three days, involving 105 countries and regions and 3087 exhibition booths, with an exhibition area of 70,000 square meters, the largest ever. Among them, there are 2677 domestic exhibitions and 410 international exhibitions. The industry categories of exhibitors continue to diversify, and the industry covers a wider range.

The 2015 China International Travel Mart, focusing on the theme of “Silk Road Tourism”, deepens the connotation of tourism diplomacy, expands the space for tourism cooperation, develops tourism industry chain cooperation and promotes platform effect by organizing a series of activities such as multilateral meetings of tourism ministers, Sino-Indian tourism forum, professional promotion and professional negotiation.

CITM has witnessed the development of tourism. It is not only a remarkable symbol of China’s integration with the world’s tourism, but also a grand event of China’s diplomatic tourism.

Brief Introduction

The CITM 2014, jointly sponsored by the China National Tourism Administration, Civil Aviation Administration of China and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from November 14 to 16, 2014. The CITM 2014 covered an area of 57,500 square meters, attracted the exhibitors from 106 countries and regions and had 2,427 exhibition booths, including 1,491 domestic booths and 936 overseas booths. There were a total of 278 exhibitors, of which 206 were overseas exhibitors; and the buyers numbered over 1,200, of which 850 were invited overseas buyers, and 350 were overseas private buyers. The United States served as the Guest of Honor.

The CITM 2014 made remarkable achievements. During the mart, 4.85 million copies of promotion materials were distributed; about 3,600 contracts were signed; and the total number of the people under contracts registered about five million. During the two professional days on November 14 and 15, about 18,000 Chinese and foreign tourism-related people were present; and on the public open day on November 16, over 30,000 citizens visited the mart. It totally received over 80,000 visitors during the mart.

Main Characteristics of the CITM 2014

Forum

All the related foreign and domestic sectors attached great importance to the CITM. During the mart, the China National Tourism Administration and the UN World Tourism Organization jointly organized the China International Tourism Forum 2014, at which the development opportunities of China’s tourism and the development future of the world tourism were explored and discussed.

Guest

Overseas honored guests actively participated in the mart. The delegates from tourism departments of 31 countries, such as the Republic of Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Laos, the United States, Russia, Croatia, etc. and some international organizations such as the UN World Tourism Organization and the South Pacific Tourism Organization and 30-plus overseas VIP groups from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had attended the mart. Among them, there were 7 honored guests of minister rank and 19 of vice minister rank.

Combination of Science and Technology with Tourism

Science and technology were mixed with tourism more closely. The year of 2014 is the “Year of Wisdom Tourism”. In the year, the scientific and technological information was integrated with tourism more tightly; the use of the new media showed the new normal in the marketing of the tourism brands; and more new products were promoted. All the exhibition booths made a good use of the wisdom means to promote their new products, and the CITM New Media Marketing Center was set up, providing technologies and a platform for the promotion of the brands, products and travel routes of the exhibitors through network live broadcast, non-interview live broadcast, special topic show, on-site interaction and other dissemination modes.

Local Cultures

The characteristics of the local cultures were shown more prominently. Both overseas and domestic exhibitors vied with each other for promoting their “local cultures”. They displayed their local cultural traditions through the decoration of their booths and promotion materials, the costumes of their staff members and their promotion programs, presenting a strong visual impact and spiritual shock at the mart.

Activities

A large number of online and offline activities and forums were organized. The Organizing Committee of the CITM 2014 held a large number of activities to enrich the mart’s contents. The “Night of Beautiful China”, a tourism presentation with “Explore Beautiful China along the Silk Road” as the theme, was held at the Shanghai Kerry Center on November 13. The sponsor displayed the glamour of civilization, the enthusiastic vitality and the boundless potentials of beautiful China and the Silk Road to the overseas and domestic guests with a wonderful activity which integrated oriental characteristics with fashionable elements. The China International Tourism Forum 2014 and other professional talks were also held during the mart.

Brief Introduction

CITM 2013 covered an area of over 50,000 sq m, involving 2,359 exhibition booths, which attracted the exhibitors from 102 countries and regions. These figures were higher than those of CITM 2011 held in Kunming. Of the total exhibition booths, 1,941 were domestic and 418 overseas, accounting for 17.7 percent, being over 2,000 units of exhibitor in total. Overseas buyers showed great interest in the mart, and over 1,000 of them, both invited and private, from the Republic of Korea, Russia, the United States, Europe and other countries and regions, took part in various trade talks during the mart. Meanwhile, professional categories of the exhibitors kept diversified, and continued to expand even wider.

Special Arrangements

To further enhance the influence of CITM and build a better exchange and trade platform for travel industry at home and abroad, the Organizing Committee of CITM 2013 made special arrangements as follows.

Promoting the Role of the Media

CITM 2013 invited over 200 domestic and foreign media to cover the news of the travel mart, such as CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, Central People’s Broadcasting Station, China Radio International, and China Tourism News. To make full use of New media to promote the mart, the Organizing Committee took “Beautiful China” as the theme to cooperate with the relevant network media, and made video interviews with the responsible persons from domestic and foreign tourism administrative departments and tourism enterprises, and published timely information of the mart through the portals, Microblog, Wechat and other social media to real-timely interact with internet users.

Encouraging on-site Sales and Internet Marketing

CITM 2013 continued to promote the exhibition in combination with sales, and encourage all the provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and tourism enterprises to make on-site preferential and discount sales of their tourist products on October 26 and 27. Lotour and other websites actively promoted their on-line products at their booths. In addition, the Organizing Committee continued to bestow the “Marketing Innovation Award” on the provinces and tourism enterprises with outstanding marketing achievements.

Attaching Importance to the Role of Enterprises

1. The Organizing Committee required the tourism bureaus of all the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities to know well the demands of the tourist enterprises and strengthen their organizing capability.

2. Creating better exchange platforms for enterprises in terms of the distribution of booths, booth instructions, consulting services, noise control and financial, industrial and commercial services.

3. The Organizing Committee reinforced the supervision on the summary and evaluation standards in terms of organizing enterprises to attend the mart, enterprises’ booth construction and the actual effects of business talks.

Organizing Various Large Activities

Organizing various large activities to deepen the international communication and cooperation. During the CITM, the Organizing Committee organized China International Tourism Branding & Marketing Seminar, Business Talks, the special presentation of the Central and East European countries, the summary and evaluation meeting by the Organizing Committee, the “Night of Taiwan” and other promotion activities to further deepen the communication and cooperation between the tourist industries at home and abroad.

2017 China International Travel Mart (CITM) (NOVEMBER 17 – 19)

The largest professional travel show in Asia. A gathering of the world’s tourism circles.

CITM is an annual event that is held in Shanghai and Kunming alternately.

Participants of travel industry from China and the world will gather, to discuss development issues.

The exhibition area of this year’s CITM reaches 70,000 square meters, including Travel Image Hall, Travel Product Hall, Healthy Travel Hall, Sports Travel Hall, etc. About 3,700 standard booths will be set. The schedule includes professional trading days and open house for the public.

The exhibition halls of the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center cover a building area of 1.17 million square meters. The pavilions and ancillary facilities are not only the first-class in China but also second to none in Asia. The 23 pavilions each have an indoor exhibition area of over 10,000 square meters. In addition, there is an outdoor exhibition area of 100,000 square meters.

Kunming’s 500KM Music Festival

For the seventh time, Kunming’s “500KM City Music Festival” kicks off – this year end of June. A large variety of Chinese and international bands on three different stages will rock Yunnan’s capital during two days!
First launched in 2010, the organizers hoped, such a music festival could attract more musicians and music lovers to Kunming. After 7 years, this festival belongs to one of China’s top ten music festivals.
This year, many renowned bands and singers will join in the performance, including Australian Lenka Kripac, DJEMBA DJEMBA from the US as well as Miserable Faith (痛苦信仰乐队) and Chen li(陈粒).
This year, the festival is held close to the Dianchi Lake at Kunming Dianchi International Convention & Exhibition Center, the place, where we used to attend travel fairs. Besides the three main stages (“Five Hundreds Kilometers”, “Cloud stage” and “South stage”), two special zones are added: The “Techno Rave Town” as well as “Air Space”, an area for sport and a pool party.

South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF)

As a brand-new commodity expo and investment fair, which has the same theme as China-South Asia Expo, SSACEIF is widely acknowledged by people home and abroad. 51 countries and areas around the world have comfirmed to attend the expo. Besides, 17 pavilions will be set during the expo. Yunnan province has held promotional conference of the 2017 South-Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) respectively in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen City, according to the Executive Committee. Yunnan province accountability units will play their own advantages to make sure SSACEIF a huge success. Meanwhile, 22 provinces and municipalities will support and cooperate with Kunming as well.

Seventeen exhibition halls including the opening exhibition hall contain 8,000 standard booths. For instance, tourism exhibition hall, healthy and marine bio pharmaceutical exhibition hall, and manufacturing exhibition hall the like. A large number of advanced enterprises will participate in it. It is said that each exhibition hall has made efforts to design wonderful exhibitions.

Langcang-Mekong Subregion Nation Commodities Exposition and Theme Forum

2016 First Langcang-Mekong Subregion Nation Commodities Exposition & Theme Forum officially kicks off on November 15th at Kunming Dianchi International Conference and Exhibition Center.

The activity altogether includes 5 parts, namely the products exhibition, theme forum, business negotiation, entrepreneurship and innovation activities, cultural exchanges. As for the products exhibition part, the total area achieves 80,000 square meters. Altogether 3,000 international standard booths are provided. Enterprises coming from Langcang-Mekong Subregion’s 6 countries all attend the exhibition. Besides, we can also see enterprises from Japan, South Korea, Africa, Europe and other areas on the spot. Thailand serves as the guest of honor this year. Therefore, Ministry of the Interior of Thailand organized more than 300 enterprises appearing at the exhibition. They bring many products that are first exhibited in China, such as OTOP products.
