The “Colourful Yunnan Ancient Dian Lake Kingdom Culture Tourism Famous City” project will be built into a large-scale cultural tourism complex integrating cultural experience, tourism, leisure and health preservation, business exhibition, entertainment, office and other functions; an inland lakeside city with superior environment and perfect facilities. Since the first phase of the project Colourful Yunnan Ancient Dian Lake Kingdom Culture Tourism Famous City was opened to pubic in November of 2015, visitors to and citizens of Kunming have been offered a brandnew destination to closely tour in the Dianchi Lake by enjoying a ride in the pleasure boats and battleships featuring ancient Dian style.

Development and Vision
Groundbreaking for the project took place on October 26, 2012, marking a significant milestone in Yunnan’s cultural tourism landscape. The initiative aimed to revitalize and showcase the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Ancient Dian Kingdom, contributing to the preservation and promotion of local traditions.

Phases and Openings
The project was implemented in phases:

  • November 15, 2015: The first phase opened, featuring attractions such as “Anjiang Ancient Ferry” and “Ancient Dian Fine Wetland.”
  • March 8, 2016: The second phase was inaugurated, adding “Cherry Blossom Valley” and “Love Square” to the complex.
  • July 21, 2017: Dianchi International Healthcare and Elderly Care Resort Vitality Town opened, enhancing the city’s offerings.
  • March 18, 2017: Colorful Yunnan – Ancient Dian Hot Spring Villa welcomed visitors, adding a wellness dimension.
  • April 9, 2017: The flagship store of Colorful Yunnan – Jade South Asia opened, showcasing local craftsmanship.
  • July 5, 2018: Colorful Yunnan – Joy World, Ancient Dian Crowne Plaza Hotel, and Joy World McDonald’s Restaurant simultaneously opened, expanding leisure and hospitality options.
  • December 21, 2019: D1 City at Mengzi “Nanhu Hui – D1 City” commenced operations, further enriching the city’s portfolio.

Main Attractions

Ancient Dian Lake Yihai Wharf

Set with the backdrop of the landscapes of the Dianchi Lake. the wharf is vividly claimed to be a carrier to display the “fishery culture” of the Ancient Dian Kingdom, and greatly enriches the “water culture” of the project. More than 200 boat boats are full of unique ethnic customs and ancient Yunnan verve. Among them, Yunnan People’s race square covers an area of 6385 square meters, can accommodate 2000 people, and the waiting hall covers an area of 1134 square meters, can accommodate 700 people.

Ancient Dian Lake Wetland Park

The 0.73-sq-km wetland park centralises on the ancient Dian culture, displaying the rich history of Yunnan Province. Inside the park are a 5.6-km walkway set for visitors to get around, and kiosks for visitors to have a rest. Strolling in the park, one will find many hydrophilous plants such as reeds, water lily, and weeping willow etc. The most eye-catching sights in the whole touring area are the pleasure boats and battleships that have rejuvenated the scenes in the Dianchi Lake in the ancient times.

Ancient Dian Lake Hot Spring Villa

The seven color Yunnan Ancient Yunnan hot spring villa contains indoor public hot springs and outdoor pool area. It is a themed and complex high-end leisure and vacation project integrating health preservation, entertainment, food, accommodation and sports. Hot spring water source is 2622 meters underground, rich in silicic acid, lithium, sodium, calcium, zinc and other trace elements, 72 outdoor pools, 36 hot spring villas.
