Geographical Location

Jiahanqing Town (夹寒箐镇) is located in the southeastern part of Qiubei County (马关县), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Dulong Town (都龙镇) to the east, connects to Jinchang Town (金厂镇) and Xiaobazi Town (小坝子镇) to the south, neighbors Renhe Town (仁和镇) to the west, and is adjacent to Mabai Town (马白镇) to the north. The town government is located in Jiahanqing Village (夹寒箐村), 22 kilometers away from the county seat, covering a total area of 252.28 square kilometers.

Cultural History

The history of Jiahanqing Town (夹寒箐镇) dates back to the Republican era. Before 1930, Jiahanqing was part of the Dulong District (都龙). In 1931, it was renamed the Fourth District, and after Dulong was separated in 1934, it became the Sixth District. In 1950, it was part of the Fifth District. In 1969, it was changed to Jiahanqing Commune (夹寒箐公社), and in 1984, the commune was converted to a district. In 1988, it was officially established as a town. The name “Jiahanqing” comes from the Zhuang language (壮语) “Zhangying,” which means “iron broom grass,” as the area is rich in this type of grass.

Jiahanqing Town (夹寒箐镇) is home to 11 ethnic groups, including Miao (苗族), Zhuang (壮族), Yi (彝族), and others, with Miao people making up the largest group.
