Jiangna Town (江那镇) is located in the central-southern part of Yanshan County (砚山县), Wenshan Prefecture (文山州), Yunnan Province (云南省). It serves as the political, economic, cultural, and transportation hub of Yanshan County (砚山县). The town borders Zhela Township (者腊乡) to the east, Panlong Township (盘龙乡) to the south, Binglie Township (秉烈乡) of Wenshan County (文山县) to the west, and Ganhe Township (干河乡) to the north. The total administrative area of the town is 267 square kilometers.

Cultural History

Jiangna Town (江那镇) has a long history. In the sixth year of the Kangxi reign (1667), it belonged to the First District of Yanshan County (砚山县). During the Republic of China period, the administrative affiliation of Jiangna Town (江那镇) changed several times, and it was officially established as a town in 1944. In 1950, it became part of Yanshan County (砚山县), was merged into Wenshan County (文山县) in 1958, and was restored as Jiangna Commune after Yanshan County (砚山县) was reestablished in 1961. The town status was reinstated in 1971.

Folk Culture

Jiangna Town (江那镇) is home to multiple ethnic groups, including Han, Zhuang, Miao, Yi, and Hui. The Yi culture is particularly vibrant, with the traditional “Torch Festival” celebrated annually on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month. Additionally, the town boasts unique ethnic handicrafts, such as Yi embroidery.
