Climbing Haba Snow Mountain requires good physical condition and basic outdoor experience.
Although it is considered beginner-friendly, altitude sickness is the main challenge.
We recommend arriving in Yunnan 1–2 days early for acclimatization and staying well-hydrated throughout the trip.
Proper gear is essential: waterproof hiking boots, warm layered clothing, gloves, gaiters, sunglasses, and headlamp are mandatory for summit day.
Technical equipment such as crampons and ice axes will be provided or can be rented locally.
The temperature at Base Camp can drop below freezing even in non-winter seasons, so pack adequate thermal wear. Mobile signals are weak or unavailable during the mountain days—inform family in advance.
Yaks or horses will carry heavy luggage, but keep your personal backpack light, only with essentials like water, snacks, raincoat, and camera.
Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking is highly recommended. Follow your guide’s instructions at all times, especially during nighttime ascent on icy terrain. If you feel severe discomfort due to altitude, communicate immediately with your guide.
This itinerary includes long trekking hours; a reasonable training plan beforehand will ensure a safer and more enjoyable climb.
