If you decide to drive, remember to follow the local traffic rules.

If you plan to hike soon, you can simply check the weather forecast. The weather in Dali is very pleasant, but when you climb the mountain on foot, you should pay attention to the fact that the temperature is decreasing with the increase of altitude. Every 1000 meters above sea level, it will decrease by about 6.5 degrees Celsius (11.7 degrees Fahrenheit). You should carry suitable clothes according to the local weather. One more thing, when looking at the weather, you should pay attention to whether the weather unit is degrees celsius or Fahrenheit, and convert it to the unit you are familiar with. If there are dangerous animals, such as snakes and spiders, in the area where you are going to hike, you need to be very careful. At the same time, there are some precious animals living on Dali’s mountains. If you are lucky, it is good to see these animals from a distance. Don’t approach them to frighten them.
On Cangshan, there is another route that is more beautiful. You are unlikely to meet other hikers on this route.
The path starts in Guangming village, on the west side of Cangshan mountain, it goes straight through pine forests and flattens out on the local grassland used for grazing animals (altitude: 3000 meters). There is a water source nearby, which is a good place for camping.
Starting from here, the path follows a narrow ridge straight up through azaleas and thickets of forests, climbing over some rocks along the way. After reaching the top of the mountain, don’t look down, because it drops sharply on both sides!
Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach Shuanglongtan. These are beautiful mountain lakes and the nearby areas are suitable for camping.
About 20 kilometers north of Dali, Cangshan mountain ridge is divided into two independent ridges. between them is a beautiful valley with Tibetan flavor. The best translation is “flower meadow”. Its name comes from a period of spring, when millions of azaleas bloom at the same time, forming a sea of pink and red.
There are a few Yi families living in the valley. They use the valley to graze yaks and sheep and engage in subsistence agriculture.
You can travel north, then reach Fengyu directly and enter the smaller Huagu in the east. There is only one house and the scenery is charming.
There is a little-known path to enter this mountain, one of China’s five famous Buddhist mountains. It is not only beautiful, but also can bypass the high entrance fee.
The two separate paths, from the double gallery and the double gallery and the excavation, are about 10 kilometers apart on the east bank of Erhai Lake. Both are very steep and difficult to navigate, but eventually converge in a tank about half of the way. The merged path lasted for about 2 kilometers along a mud road, then began to climb on a steep hillside and finally reached a huge alpine meadow.
There is a hermit monk living here, you can stop to say hello, he is very friendly! Continue upward and cross the final pass (3200 meters), and you will see the white pagoda of Jinding Temple for the first time.
There is a well-preserved tea-horse ancient road market in Shaxi ancient town of Jianchuan county in Yunnan province, it is as famous as “The square street” in Lijiang, except that the square street in Shaxi Ancient Town is left over by the men of the horse racing gang in history and is the only well-preserved market on the ancient road today.
