What to Wear for a July Lijiang Travel

It’s comfortable walking in the sun in this climate in daytime, so it is necessary to bring some summer clothes, such as light blouses, T-shirts, skirts, and short pants. But it is a little cold at night, and travelers can wear long dresses, suits and light pants. There are strong ultraviolet rays in Lijiang due to its geographic position, so travelers need to bring sun-protective clothing and sunglasses. 

Places to Visit in July Lijiang

  • Dongba Village:
    Dongba Valley is a famous attraction in Lijiang. It is a steep valley adorned with caves, stalactites, strange trees, rare stones, exotic birds, and turbulent waterfalls. In the scenic area, there are minorities on streets and squares, showing their unique culture through singing, dancing, painting, handwriting, and various small wares. Along the main street are many shops full of exotic features, presenting the characteristic Dongba culture.
  • Lijiang Ancient Town:
    The Torch Festival of the Naxi People usually falls at the end of July, and it lasts for three days. During the festival, every family will light a huge torch in front of their houses, and the youth will hold torches in their hand, parading and singing along the roads until late night. According to ancient tales, the flames imply a prosperous and auspicious life. People crowd into the town, singing and dancing. At night, they admire the starry sky and send out Kongming Lanterns into the sky. The town is decorated with torches and flowers and travelers can experience the rejoicing with wild excitement in these days.
  •  Longquan Temple,(龙泉寺)Yufeng Temple(玉峰寺)
    It t is also a good time to visit temples in Lijiang, such as Longquan Temple, Puji Temple, and Yufeng Temple. You can ramble among sprouting trees, listen to the monks chanting sutras, and make a wish under the clear sky.
  • Mu’s Residence:
    It reflects the architectural style of the central plains of China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its layout is arranged according to the pattern of the Forbidden City. Decorative work, including carvings and paintings of buildings, are similar in style to those in the palace of Ming. Most of the decorations are simple but sublime showing the dignity of the ruler. Some of the buildings show the delicate characteristics of landscape gardens in south China.
  • Ganhaizi Meadow:
    There is the famous large-scaled live-action performance Impression Lijiang, which is directed by Zhang Yimou. It is shown at Ganhaizi Meadow on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain by local people, creating an amazing visual effect and expressing the culture and emotion of the city. 
  • Lashihai Lake:
    Travelers can go to Lashihai Lake for horse riding and boat trips. There is also picturesque scenery and travelers can see plenty of flowers and plants in July.
