About Luoping Rapeseed Flowers

Luoping enjoys a mild and humid climate. It is dominated by karst features with small basins among independent green hills. It is not only an important producing county of the cole in China but also a national base for raising bees and for processing honey products. The rape flowers covering an area of 250,000 mu and on February of March every years, thousands of Yellow Rapeseed Flowers are in full bloom, looking like and expanse of a golden sea. There are many things to see when you travel Luoping. The major sights include the Jiulong Waterfall(Nine Dragons), the Duoyi River and the Lubuge Gorges.

In early spring, the sprawling farmlands in Luoping are covered in golden, yellow rapeseed flowers stretching as far as the eyes can see, all the way to the horizon. The blooming buds fill the air with the refreshing smell of spring that not only attracts human, but also bees. If you want to shoot beautiful photo, you had better go to Luoping in fine day. The best time to shoot Niu Street is 4:00-6:00 pm. The best time to shoot the sunrise of Golden Cock Peak is around 7:00-7:30 am and to shoot the sunset after 17:30 pm.

The Best Time to Visit:

Luoping Rapeseed Flowers are in their fullest bloom for only ten days in a year. If you go too early, you will miss nothing; but if you go too late, you will miss much. So it is better to set out after you get everything clear. If it is warm early, the flowers will bloom early. The prime time is from round about February, 20th to 25th. Until March, the flowers would have faded. But if it gets warm late, the flowers will bloom late. Anyway, the time for the blooming is different from year to year. March is not always the best choice.

It takes four hours from Kunming to Luoping by train, 17-30 yuan per person. During the Rapeseed Flowers Festival, there is tourist-dedicated train from Kunming to Luoping that departs at 8:10 in the morning from Kunming and return at 14:00 from Luoping.

It costs 25-30 yuan to take a bus from Kunming to Luoping.

It costs 200-300 yuan to rent a car from Kunming to Luoping.
