Geographical Location

Luo Jia Ping (罗家坪) is located in Jin Chang Village Committee (金厂村委会), Jin Chang Town (金厂镇), Ma Guan County (马关县), Wen Shan Prefecture (文山州), Yunnan Province (云南省). It is about 5 km from the Jin Chang Town (金厂镇) government seat and only 1 km from the border in a straight line. The village is situated in a mountainous area, bordered by Luo Jia Ping Mountain (罗家坪大山) to the east, Xiao Bai River (小白河) to the west, Vietnam to the south, and Du Long Town (都龙镇) to the north. The terrain is steep, with the main peak of Luo Jia Ping Mountain (罗家坪大山) reaching an elevation of 2,002 meters.

Cultural History

Luo Jia Ping (罗家坪) is a Miao ethnic village with over 300 years of history. The village consists of 107 households with 515 residents, all of whom are Miao people. It was once a crucial battlefield during the Sino-Vietnamese border war. In 1980, the Battle to Recapture Luo Jia Ping Mountain (罗家坪大山) took place here, and the villagers provided vital support to the frontline troops, making significant contributions. As a result, Luo Jia Ping (罗家坪) is honored as the “Model Village in Supporting the Frontline” and the “Heroic Village.” The village history museum preserves many heroic deeds and certificates of honor from that time.

Folk Customs

Luo Jia Ping (罗家坪) retains many unique Miao ethnic cultural traditions. The village features small yellow-walled, gray-tiled houses surrounded by greenery, with red flags flying on every rooftop. The village frequently hosts cultural activities such as Lusheng dances, toast songs, spinning tops, and crossbow shooting. During the Spring Festival, basketball matches and folk song competitions are organized, attracting many tourists.
