    Shen Jie, from Mangobo Village (曼戈播村), Gasa Town (嘎洒镇), Jinghong City (景洪市), Xishuangbanna Prefecture (西双版纳州), is a provincial-level representative inheritor of intangible cultural heritage for the Hani (哈尼族, Ni sub-group 尼人支系) costume-making craft. Through her skillful hands and dedication, she has safeguarded and passed on the unique clothing culture of her people.

    Born in 1975, Shen Jie began learning the traditional craft of Hani costume-making at the age of 17 under the guidance of her elder sister. She mastered the entire process — from spinning, weaving, dyeing, and tailoring to sewing and embroidery. Her expertise goes beyond technical skill; she also deeply understands the cultural symbolism embodied in each motif.
