Day 1 Lijiang-Tiger Leaping Gorge-Haba Village

From Lijiang, we’ll drive about 60 km to the First Bend of the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks.

Continue the driving 40 km more to visit the upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Then, you’ll head for the middle part of Tiger Leaping Gorge for your lunch. After a short trek in Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge, drive to Haba Village which is a small Naxi village located at the food of Haba Snow Mountain.

Arrive at Haba Snow Mountain Guesthouse in Haba Village. You will prepare for your equipment and acclimatize yourself to the altitude(2600 meters in Haba Snow Mountain Guesthouse). After lunch, examine your heart rate and blood oxygen content. Learn the knowledge, condition and introduction of the Haba Snow Mountain Climbing.

Day 2 Haba Village-the Base Camp at 4200 meters

Trek up the Haba Mountain for about 15 km to the Base Camp at the 4200 m, which will take about 7 hours, with yaks taking your luggage. You will have a picnic lunch in Haba Snow Mountain. You only need to take some water, clothe, necessary food, the other equipment will be transferred by the horses to the Basic Camp.

This day, you will hike up 1500M of the altitude, arrive at the Base Camp in the afternoon. Because of the high elevation, everyone will suffer the different altitude sickness. You should know how to adjust the situation and adapt to the high elevation. If you really feel not very well, please tell your escort.

Note: It is not allowed to sleep before 9:00 PM.
Overnight at the Base Camp or in the wooden hut(beds and quilt are available in the wooden hut).

Option to have one more day in Acclimatization in the Base Camp.

You will spend the day to acclimatize in the base camp. Some Chinese climbers and web sites are recommending a Camp 1 at 4900 meters just before getting on the glacier (a small pond/lake is located there) but it seems that most people do the climb in one day up and down from base camp. This seems to be the best solution especially if you can spend one day to acclimatize in base camp. There is a 4 hours walk going to black lake and back from base camp if you chose this option.

Day 3 Base Camp at the 4200 meters-the Camp 1 at 4800 meters

Continue climbing up for about 6 km to Camp 1 at 4800 meters, which will take about 6 hours. Our professional mountaineering guide will choose the right path for you to climb up. Our guide will set up the Camp 1 for you.
There is the other option to walk to the Base Camp at 4200 meters within an hours and half via a couple of Lake and some mountain passes where you can have good views of Haba Mountain and the area. And then, walk up to 4800 meters from the Base Camp for some training and back to the Base Camp.

Day 4 Camp 1 at 4800 meters-the top of Haba Snow Mountain at 5396 meters-Base Camp

Get up at 5:00 am, begin to climb to the top of the Haba Snow Mountain at the 5396 meters, which will take about 5 hours. You will climb about 4 km, leave most of your luggage at the Camp 1. You just need to take your mountaineering tools, such as the rope, ice axe, ice pick, etc.

You need to use ice crampons and ice axes to get to the top of the mountain. On the top, you can have a very good view of the mountains in distance, including Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, Meili Snow Mountain in Deqin, Three Holy Mountains in Yading and many other nameless mountains.

Have a picnic lunch, then trek down to Camp 1 to take your luggage, then continue trek down to the Base Camp. Our service clerk at the Base Camp will prepare good meals and wait for you.

Day 5 Base Camp at the 4200 meters-Haba Village-Baishuitai-Shangri-la

Trek down from Base Camp to the Long Wang Bian Village with yaks taking your luggage. After lunch, drive to Shangri-La, you will visit Baishuitai (White Water Terrace).

Baishuitai is the cradle of the Dongba culture of the Naxi people. It is said that the founding father of Dongba culture settled here to spread his beliefs on his way back from Tibet. On the eighth day of the second month of the lunar calendar, that is, the day when the founding father held his founding ceremony, people of various groups congregate round the terrace, singing and dancing and slaughtering chickens to pay tribute.

Note: If you will go back to Lijiang after the climbing, you can tell us in advance and transfer to Lijiang after ending the climbing trip.

Day 1 Lijiang Arrival

Upon arrival in Lijiang, our local guide will pick you up from the airport and transfer to the hotel in the old town. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Lijiang old town and buy something necessary for the trip. Day 2 Lijiang-Jade Dragon Snow Mountain-Lijiang

You will start your walking from Jin’anqiao Bridge to Shudi along the road at the bank of Yangtze River. You will see the beautiful canyon and Yi ethnic people’s villages in the steep mountains. After 1 hour walking in the canyon, We will continue the driving and you can stop in many Yi villages.

In the late afternoon, you will take the canoes to visit Liwubi Island and Snake Islet in Lugu Lake.

(Optional)In the evening, take part in the night party and performance which is named the Soul of Mosuo. There are a lot of Mosuo young people dancing and singing around the fire in the outdoors theatre.

Early in the morning we will drive directly to Yak Farm, our trekking start point, and meet our horse-men team, have our luggage packed on the horses there. It takes us 4 hours or so to trek up to the Yeji Mountain Pass(3,600 meters), passing by the Yi People’s village on the way.

The colorful prayer cloth on the trees reminds us of arriving at the mountain pass, from there we may have a nice view of the Lion Mountain near Lugu Lake. And we will trek down among the virgin forests for 3 hours directly to our camping site, an unknown grassland near the river.

Day 5 Unknown Grassland-Tongtian River

Today’s walking is easy for us, though it is long, for the reason of no strong rise and fall on the way. After breakfast we go outside the forest, walking along the tractor road, where a river accompanies us all the way. Before arriving our camping site, we will pass by some Tibetan villages, Yiji and Jiaqu villages. From Jiaqu village we will trek down to Tongtian river, where we will camp nearby.

Day 6 Tongtian River-Kawa Village

In the morning, we will trek up along the half-way up mountain trail until arriving at the top, where we can see Tongtian River and Dongyi River. When trekking up, we will have a fantastic view on the way, what impress us are the high mountains, huge valleys, and villages scatter in the opposite deep mountains.

Before arriving at our camping site near Kawa Village, where Mongolians live, we will pass by Hadi Naxi People’s village. This section of trail makes us walk on the top of high mountains, as if walking in the clouds.

Day 7 KawaVillage-Lusi Grassland

From Kawa village down to Keku Village(2,700 meters), on the way, we may see many huge cactus growing on the cliffs, and what surprises us most is a house build on the cliff close to Dongyi River. Keku Village is a place where Tibetan people live, from there we will trek up again until arriving at our camping site, leaving the river far behind.

Day 8 Lusi grassland-Kasi Village

Today is a long journey for us. Early in the morning, we will leave our camping site, trekking down outside the forest until arriving at the Seku village(2,600 meters). From there we will go across the river by the bridge, and walk further to Wangzi village, where we stop our trekking today, and then drive to Kasi village.

Day 9 Kasi Village-Kasi Gorge-Kasi Yak Farm

From today we will start the hardest trekking section, for the average height of the altitude is above 3,800 meters. Kasi village is the entrance to Kasi Gorge, and in the morning we will enter the Gorge, walking in the virgin forests. Two hours trek along the bottom of the gorge later, we will trek up until reaching Kasi Yak Farm, where we will camp tonight. And from here the altitude is above 4,000 meters.

Day 10 Kasi Yak Farm-Chonggu Monastery

Today’s trekking is the most strenuous. Before trekking down again we have to reach the highest mountain pass(4,800 meters) of these days, from where we have a nice view of the two snow mountains( Chenrezi (6032) and Chenadorje (5958), plateau lake(the Milk Lake(4,750). Have a short rest near the plateau lake below the mountain and then we continue trekking down into the virgin forests where we can find the height of the altitude descending sharply.

Before getting to the guesthouse near Chonggu Monastery, we will pass by Luorong Yak Farm (4,200 m), located among the center of the three snow mountains, Chenrezi (6032 m), Jampayang (5958 m) and Chenadorje (5958 m).

Day 11 Chonggu Monastery-Daocheng

Today we needn’t get up very early, in the morning enjoy the leisure time on the grassland near the monastery, after lunch we will trek down about one hour outside the scenic spot, where we say good bye to our horse-men team, and take the bus to Daocheng. Stay in the local guesthouse.

Today we will drive towards the east direction, covering part of the Sichuan to Tibet Highway before arriving in Chengdu. On the way we will pass by 4 high mountain passes, the average height of them are above 4,500 meters, and get into Kangding.

Kangding is the traditional trading and meeting point between the Tibetan plateau to the west and the Han river plains in the east, and the buildings, wares and mix of people reflect this. Now it’s time to say goodbye to the highlands.

Day 14 Kangding-Chengdu

Hit the road for an early start to our last day’s drive, which follows what was the old tea route between China and Tibet and is now the main military road into the TAR. Stop for lunch at Luding, the site of heroic episodes of the Long March. We then proceed to cross the 3000 meters Erlang pass and 10-km Erlang tunnel, as well as 7756 meters Minyak Gangkar (Gonggashan) to the south. Finally, arrive in Chengdu.

Day 15 Chengdu-Panda Research Base–Chengdu

Start your trekking tour with horses. First trek 1 hour to Chonggu Monastery(3800 meters), which is in fact a ruin, then trek up to visit the Pearl Lake. Continue the trekking to the Luorong Yak Ranch(4200 meters), then trek along the Milk Lake shore up to a mountain pass(4681 meters), and move on to the Kars Yak Ranch. Camp there for overnight.

Day 5 Kars Yak Ranch-Kars Village

Trek down from Kars Yak Ranch to the Kars Hell Valley, then trek through the valley. On the way, you will see several waterfalls (the valley is named Hell, but in fact it is as beautiful as Paradise). At the end of the valley, you will cross a narrow wood bridge, walk into the Kars Village. Stay in a local villager’s house or camp there.

Day 6 Kars Village-Seku Village

Take a tractor for 39 km from Kars Village to Dongyi Village via Geka Village, then change to a minibus, drive another 18 km from Dongyi Village to Eryatong Village via Wangzi Village. Here is the end of the dust road. You have to start your trekking tour again. You will trek 6 km from Eryatong Village to Emei Village, on the way, you will see the U-shape Bend of the Dongyi River, and some ruined castles(These castles are related with the war between the Naxi people in Lijiang and the Tibetan people living in this area in Ming Dynasty). Then continue trekking from Emei Village to Seku Village(most villagers are Mongolian people). Stay in a local villager’s house or camp there.

Day 7 Seku Village-Kawa Village

Trek from Seku Village to Eryada Village, continue the trekking to Keku Village (most villagers are Pumi people), then arrive at Kawa Village(3500 meters, most villagers are Naxi people and Mongolian people). Day 8 Kawa Village-Yiji Village

This day, we will depart to Yulong Snow Mountain. It is the southernmost glacier in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. Altogether there are 13 peaks among the range, stretching for over 35 km from south to north. The summit, Shanzidou, is 5596 meters above sea level. Viewed from afar, the snow-capped range resembles a silver dragon with snow curling up its middle. Rich forest, herb and animal resources thrive on the mountain.

On our way, we will stop at Dongba Village in Yushui Stockade, which is built completely according to the traditional life style of Naxi minority. You can feel the traditional atmosphere of ethnic culture from the layout of its yard, building facilities, tools and details of life.

Day 1 Arrive in Kunming

Upon arrival at the Kunming airport/train station, your local tour guide and driver will meet you in the arrival hall and escort you to your hotel. You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating land from the capital city, Kunming.

Day 2 Kunming-Stone Forest-Dali by Speed Train

After breakfast, drive 86 km to the renowned Stone Forest, the “First Wonder of the World.” You’ll marvel at its natural stone masterpieces and be bewitched by the intricate formations. The Stone Forest is located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, about 120 kilometers from Kunming, requiring a three-hour drive. It covers an area of 400 square kilometers and includes both large and small stone forests, as well as many other scenic spots.

After the tour, drive back to Kunming and visit the Nancheng Mosque and the Flowers and Birds Market in the downtown area.

Take the speed train from Kunming to Dali, where your local guide and driver will meet you and escort you to the hotel.

Day 3 Dali

In the morning, head to Xizhou Town to fully appreciate the Bai-style traditional architectural courtyards, taste their fragrant Three-Course Tea, and explore their distinctive culture. This little village is known as “a living art museum” due to its unusual concentration of nationally protected heritage sites, mostly including architecture from the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) to the establishment of New China in 1949, as well as centuries-old trees, parks, and wildlife preserves.

After Xizhou, visit Zhoucheng Village , the largest Bai ethnic village in China, and the Bai Ethnic Tie-Dyeing Cloth Workshop, where you can purchase special souvenirs in the Bai ethnic style. The tie-dyeing products from Zhoucheng Village are highly sought after, both domestically and internationally. Drop by and witness this historical craftsmanship firsthand—who knows, you may return home with some beautifully crafted cloths.

After lunch, take a cruise on Erhai Lake by small boat to Jinsuo Islet in the eastern part of the lake. Approximately 200 Bai ethnic families, about 1,000 people, live on Jinsuo Island. During the Erhai Lake cruise, you’ll enjoy views of the green Cangshan Mountain and the Three Pagodas from a distance, as well as spot many birds and seagulls flying over the lake.

Afterwards, visit Dali Old Town. Dali Old Town dates back to 1382 during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) and has been one of China’s top historical cities since 1982. With Erhai Lake to the east and Cangshan Mountain to the west, its grand city walls, traditional Bai ethnic folk houses, and marvelous scenery have attracted many visitors. The tour of Dali Old Town will include the Foreigner Street, the Gate Towers, and the Ancient City Wall.

Day 4 Dali-Weishan-Lijiang

After breakfast, drive about one hour to Weishan Yi and Hui Autonomous County. VisitEast Lotus Village(Donglianhua Village) before arriving in Weishan Old Town. Donglianhua Village has a rich ethnic diversity and strong Muslim customs. The most prominent landmark is the Donglianhua Mosque, a major attraction in the village. This large-scale mosque, built in a unique folk style, is a great destination for admirers of Muslim architecture and culture. Next, drive to Weibaoshan Mountain, one of China’s 14 famous Daoist holy mountains.

Return to Weishan Old Town, where you will visit the Big and Small Temples along the way. Explore the Weishan Ancient Town in the afternoon. Built over 600 years ago, the town has many ancient buildings. The magnificent Gongchen Building is a symbol of the ancient town.

Afterward, drive back to Dali.

Day 5 Lijiang

Enjoy the sunrise over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Lijiang Ancient Town in the morning. Drive about 30 km to Ganhaizi Meadow (3,100 meters). Take the sightseeing bus for a short visit through Baishuihe River in Blue Moon Valley, then take the chairlift up to visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The cable car will operate based on mountain conditions. You will then hike for about an hour through the original forest in Spruce Meadow (3,200 meters).

After lunch, enjoy the Impression Lijiang Show, a spectacular outdoor performance set against the backdrop of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, directed by the famous Zhang Yimou. The show is a magnificent outdoor singing and dancing performance demonstrating the traditions and lifestyles of the local ethnic groups. It’s staged innovatively at an altitude of 3,100 meters with Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as the breathtaking backdrop.

Stroll through Baisha Old Town, an enchanting traditional Naxi-style old town. Visit the Baisha Murals, which are around 600 years old and part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 1997.

Day 6 Lijiang-Tiger Leaping Gorge-Shangri-la

From Lijiang, drive about 60 km to the First Bend of the Yangtze River , offering stunning gorge scenery.

Visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called Jinsha in this area, as gold can be found in the river. In the afternoon, head for Shangri-La, formerly known as Zhongdian, which is famous as a paradise destination for travelers.

Upon arrival in Shangri-La, you’ll enter a Tibetan cultural area surrounded by barley fields and yaks scattered across the valleys. Visit the Ganden Songzanling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan, also known as the “Little Potala Palace,” as it is built in the traditional Tibetan style with a mysterious atmosphere.

Day 7 Shangri-la

In the morning, drive to visit Napa Lake, hike around Hamugu Village(哈木谷村). Transfer back to Shangri-la for lunch. The lake spans roughly 23 square kilometers, or about 2300 hectares, during the height of the runoff season (besides the direct runoff from the surrounding mountains into the lake, there are a dozen or so rivers that empty into the lake after snaking their way through the grasslands), shrinks to about 1/5 of its size (500 hectares) during late fall, though changing global climatic conditions may eventually reduce this figure even more, or increase it, depending on the direction of the change.

In the afternoon, you will have a hike to Baiji Monastery(白鸡寺), enjoy the panoramic view of Dukezong Old Town and Shika Snow Mountain from a far.

Hike down back to Dukezong Old Town, pay a visit Guishan Hill Park including the Daguishan Monastery and the Giant Prayer Wheel on the top of Guishan Hill.

Dukezong Ancient Town is an important town of the Ancient Tea-horse Trade Caravan from Yunnan to Tibet and India. The Square Street in the old town, the center of the old town, is the main tour area gathering a maze of cobbled lanes, white stupas, renovated tourist shops, café, bars, etc. Further away from the square street, the narrow winding lanes will give you a quieter shelter and unveil you more authentic local touch with the unrestored structures and real local life.

Welcome to Kunming, the Spring City of China! Upon arrival at Kunming airport/train station, your local tour guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall and escort you to your hotel. You will begin your journey to the diverse and captivating Yunnan province from the capital city, Kunming.

After a short rest, enjoy a stroll in Kunming’s most picturesque park, the Green Lake Park. This charming area features tea houses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. You can also share in the joy of locals practicing tai chi, performing opera, and engaging in other vibrant activities. If you visit the park in November or December, you’ll see a large flock of red-beaked seagulls that migrate from Siberia.

Day 2 Kunming-Huize

Set out early in the morning to Jinjiling in time for sunrise photography. Jinjifeng(Golden Rooster Hill), the most famous spot for photographing rapeseed flowers. It offers an excellent and expansive view of the fields and hills. Lingyi Temple, located in the middle of the hill, offers a perfect platform for photographing the fields and sunset. Then transfer to Jiulong Pubu(Nine dragons waterfalls) to photograph the waterfalls. It is regarded as one of China’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls. Firstly, take a cable car or climb up the hill to the platform overlooking the valley and the waterfalls and photograph the grand vista. Secondly, walk down the hill to the biggest waterfall (56 meters high and 112 meters wide) to photograph it up closely. Take a bamboo tour along the Duoyi River and see the Buyi ethnic village nearby.

Rise early for a sunrise photography session at Jinjiling, one of the best spots for capturing the vast rape flower fields. Then, head to Jiulong Pubu (Nine Dragons Waterfalls), regarded as one of China’s most stunning waterfalls. After admiring the grand vista from a hilltop platform, descend to the base of the largest waterfall for an up-close view. You’ll also have the chance to explore a Buyi ethnic village on a bamboo tour along the Duoyi River.

There are numerous natural bridges, valleys, rivers and waterfalls finding in the caves, which constitute a wonderful subterranean world.

After visiting, you will head for Stone Forest and stay overnight at Shilin County.

The Jinning Zheng He Memorial is one of the Chinese Celebrities Museums. The preparation for the building’s construction began in 1983 — the 580th anniversary of the end of Zheng’s great navigation. Early in the morning, the guide and driver will pick you up from hotel , then drive about 1 hour to play golf in Kunming Spring City Golf & Lake Resort, a premier integrated golf resort in Kunming, comprises luxury villas and two championship golf courses – the Mountain Course designed by Jack Nicklaus and the Lake Course by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Surrounded by mountains and beside the limpid lake, the Spring City Golf & Lake Resort is one of the most beautiful golf holiday resorts in the world, hence the name of the golf paradise in Asia. In June 1999, the US Golf Digest evaluated it as No.1 Golf resort in China.

After the playing, you will visit Stone Forest in the afternoon. There is a local saying “It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming”, which vividly expresses the deep love of the local people toward this world wonder. The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder.

After the tour, drive back to your hotel in Kunming. Service ends.

Day 1 Arrive in Xishuangbanna

Sightseeing and Activities: Arrive in Xishuangbanna

Upon your arrival in Xishuangbanna, you will be greeted by your local guide and then be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy some leisure time for the rest of the day to relax or get to know the surrounding streets.

Day 2 Xishuangbanna

Sightseeing and Activities: Wild Elephant Golf Club

Today we will enjoy a full day trip to Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Golf Club. Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Golf Club is surrounded on three sides by forests, and acres of tea accompanied by one side. The clubhouse, with an area of 3,000 square meters, shows fully Dai characteristics and a combination of traditional folk and modernization. It owns a U-shaped layout of the stadium and the middle of the courtyard was connected with the forest, which makes people feel the forest is an extension of the courtyard. In Wild Elephant Golf Club, you can experience the most natural and healthy environment, see the changing shapes of fairways and greens, have a dialogue with designers, compete with rivals and fully enjoy the golf.

Day 3 Xishuangbanna

Sightseeing and Activities: the Tropical Plant Research Institute, Ganlanba, Manting Park(Chunyuan Park)
Accommodation: Xishuangbannan
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

We will start the tour with a visit of Tropical Plant Research Institute. The garden contains 3,000 different types of plant. The environment here is lovely, surrounded by rivers & mountains and containing a wealth of rare & unusual plants, trees and flowers. Dragon Blood Tree is one of the most interesting and valuable species in the garden. Its sap is used as a remedy to stop bleeding and promote blood circulation.

Then we will drive to Ganlanba, a typical tropical landscapes with low terrain and moist climate. Ganlanba covers an area of 50 square kilometers, which is the lowest place in Xishuangbanna(530 meters above sea level).

Finally we will stop at Manting Park, which means Garden of Spirits. This park is the oldest park in Xishuangbanna, and used to be a royal garden of Dai. Many trees and ornamental plants plant in it. Wabajie Temple, a Buddhist temple with the highest status in Xishuangbanna, is situated here.

Day 4 Xishuangbanna
