This morning, you will drive to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, take the sightseeing bus for a short visit through the Baishuihe River, then take the chairlift up to visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The cable way will be arranged according to the condition of the mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Yak Meadow(3700 meters).
Stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Naxi style old town. Visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is a part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997. Later visit Shuhe Old Town. Nestled at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, 6 km northwest of Lijiang old town. Shuhe was once a staging post at ancient Tea & Horse Road. With an altitude of 2440 meters above sea level, it is a tranquil town with a population of about 3000 people. Along with its sister town Lijiang, it is also part of the UNESCO Heritage site. Shuhe is the earliest settlement of Naxi people in Lijiang when their ancestors first moved to this region.

From Lijiang, you’ll drive about 60km to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, visit the Iron Chain Bridge, the Red Army’s Long March Memorial Monument in the Shigu town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks.
Continue to visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge(Shangri-la section), the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river.
After the tour , drive back to your hotel in Lijiang.

Haba Snow Mountain is about 3 hours from Lijiang. Standing at 5396 meters, Haba is just above the snow-line and is covered with snow all year round. You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming. You can enjoy a leisure time around Kunming, like strolling in Green Park.

In the morning, depart from Kunming and drive about 1.5 hours to make the tour of Stone Forest. An old local saying says that ‘If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest, you have wasted your time.’ Truly, the Stone Forest is one of the most important attractions of Yunnan. Afterward, transfer back to Kunming, walk around Flower and Bird Market, go shopping at the shopping area – Nanping Street nearby,and go back to your hotel.

Early in the morning, take high speed train(2 hours) to Dali, arrive at Dali Railway station and meet with your local guide there. After that, visit the Three Pagodas in Chongshen Monastery , which has a history of over 1,800 years. It is located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain facing to the Erhai Lake. Three Pagodas are made of three ancient independent pagodas forming a symmetrical triangle.
After lunch, you’ll cruise in Erhai Lake by the small boat to the Jinsuo Islet in the east Erhai Lake. There are 200 Bai ethnic families around 1000 people in Jinsuo Island. During Erhai Lake cruise, you will enjoy the green Cangshan Mountain and the Three Pagodas from a far, as well as lots of birds and seagulls flying over the lake.
Later visit Zhoucheng Village and the Bai people’s Tie-dying cloth workshop where you can take some special souvenirs with the Bai ethnic style. At last, you will visit the Dali Old Town, walk around the Foreigner Street and enjoy the relax time with local people. After climbing up to the City Wall of Dali, you will have panoramic view of the Erhai Lake.

In the morning, visit the morning market of Xizhou Town to fully appreciate Bai-style traditional architectural courtyards, taste their fragrant Three-Course Tea and explore their distinctive culture.
Afterwards, transfer to Lijiang(2-2.5 hours). Upon arrival, visit Black Dragon Pool, which is located at the foot of the Xiangshan Mountain (Elephant Hill) north of Lijiang City. As the water here is a lucid green color, it gained another name Jade Spring Park (Yuquan Park). There are many distinctive and ravishing sites in the park. Hiding in the lush trees or standing along the liquid pool are the antique and exquisite architectural pieces, which are in the style of Naxi. Then explore Lijiang Old Town. Lijiang Ancient Town has a history of more than 800 years; it was listed as the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997. Here you will see the wonderful wooden architecture of Naxi people. Enjoy your relax time in Lijiang Old Town.

In the morning, drive about 30 km to Ganhaizi Meadow(3100 meters), you will take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishuihe River, then take the chairlift up to visit Yak Meadow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The cable-way will be arranged according to the condition of the mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Yak Meadow (3700 meters).
After lunch, you will enjoy the Impression Lijang Ethnic Show(regular seat) directed in Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M). A cultural show demonstrates the traditions and lifestyles of the Naxi, Yi and Bai people of the area. The show takes place in an outdoor theater of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Park at 3500 meters. The production itself was designed by Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue and Wang Chaoge, with a cast of over 500 people and a number of horses.
Later, you’ll stroll around Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan town. Visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.

Continue the driving of 40KM more to visit the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river.
After the tour of Tiger Leaping Gorge, you will head to Haba Village for overnight.

Trek up the Haba Mountain for about 15 km to the Base Camp at the 4200 m, which will take about 7 hours, with yaks taking your luggage. You will have a picnic lunch in Haba Snow Mountain. You only need to take some water, clothes, necessary food, the other equipment will be transferred by the horses to the Basic Camp.
This day you will hike up 1500M of the altitude, arrive at the Base Camp in the afternoon. Because of the high elevation, everyone will suffer the different altitude sickness. You should know how to adjust the situation and adapt to the high elevation. If you really feel not very well, please tell your escort.
Note: It is not allowed to sleep before 9:00 PM.
Overnight at the Base Camp or in the wooden hut(beds and quilt are available in the wooden hut).

Get up at 3:00 am, prepare for your equipment and have a simple breakfast. Examine your health condition before leaving for the top at 4:00 AM. Leave most of your luggage at the Camp 1, you just need to take your mountaineering tools, such as the rope, ice axe, ice pick, the bag, some solid food, a warm pot of water, clothes, headlight, climbing equipment for the climbing to the summit of Haba Mountain.
You will try to climb about 4 km to the top of the Haba Snow Mountain at the 5396m, which will take about 5 hours. It is the ice and snow trail from the camp 1 to the summit, the altitude up 500M. Enjoy the wonderful scenery of Haba Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with Yangtze River in the middle, take the pictures as souvenir. Here will be an unforgettable station of your life.
After having a picnic lunch, you will trek down to Camp 1 to take your luggage, then continue trekking down to the Base Camp. Our service clerk at the Basic Camp will prepare good meals and wait for you. Overnight at the Base Camp at 4200M.

Trek down from Base Camp to the Long Wang Bian Village, with yaks taking your luggage. Visit Heihai Lake with the original forest. After lunch, drive back to Shangri-La. Have a stop on the way to visit Baishuitai.

In the morning, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere. And afterwards you’ll visit the tranquil Bita Lake & Shudu Lake in Pudacuo National Park , which is located in one of the most biologically-diverse regions of the world. While the region comprises only 0.7 percent of China’s land area, it contains more than 20 percent of the country’s plant species, about one-third of its mammal and bird species and almost 100 endangered species.
Visit Dukezong Tibetan Ancient Town in the late afternoon, climb up to the top of Guishan Hill or Tortoise Hill, you will see the largest Prayer Wheel of the world and have a panoramic view of shangri-La and Dukezong Ancient Town.

In the morning, you’ll visit the Ganden Songzanling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. This day, we’ll drive to the northwest, through some stunning scenery! Enjoy the Yangtze river bed, classic Tibetan villages where they can make lovely beautiful wooden bowls and watch the rugged Baima snow Mountain. We will stop at Dongzhuling Monastery, the second biggest one in the Yunnan-Tibetan area. Then go to a cozy Tibetan nunnery. Overnight at Holy Mountain Hotel in Feilaisi.

Drive 2.5 hours towards the start point of the trek. We’ll drive to the south and get into Mekong River Valley with a view of Kawakarpo. If the weather is fine, a bird-eye view of winding Mekong with tiny “castle-like” Tibetan villages nearby is available.
After a 2.5-hour driving we’ll arrive the trekking start point where we’ll meet our horses with their hospitable owners. Trekking equipment and food will be loaded on the horses. Then we will have a short stretch over Mekong to a small temple, which is regarded by Tibetans as “the key “or “the permit” to the pilgrimage (Kora). Here we’ll put up our tents in the courtyard of the cozy temple.
Alternatively, just set up our tents on the roof-top of Tibetan houses after a 2-hour walk more.

Trek 7 hours to the campsite, we’ll load our ponies and say good-bye to the Mekong, and be ready to have a long climb towards Dokila pass (a mountain ridge of Kawa Karpo between Mekong and Salween River). walk together with dozens of ponies along a winding trail, accompanied by the great sounds of ponies’ bells which gives you a feeling of being in a caravan. The trail leads us up through scattered villages on the slope, steep cliffs and old-growth forest. as well as overlooking the breathtaking Mekong river valley.
Frequently, you can encounter different species of Rhododendron, orchids and some other unknown wild flowers. Have a picnic lunch with hot tea and instant coffee, plus a spectacular view. We will encamp on the relatively flat slope by a running stream. The campfire will accompany us through the night.

Trek 5 hours to the camp meadow (3450 meters). Today we just follow the footprints of Tibetan pilgrims. You will frequently encounter some holy places such as “Holy Caves”, where pilgrims crawl through for some certain reason and it is surrounded by piled good-wish stones, old jewelry and clothing from pilgrims, prayer flags and so on. At that moment, if you want to speak to someone just whisper to each other to show your respect.
Have a picnic lunch by a running stream. Afterwards, the pilgrimage path brings you to a great meadow named Yongshiton, with a murmuring stream flowing through it and surrounded by Rocky Mountains. There are some shepherd’s sheds as shelters for pilgrims as well as for herds of yaks and horses. Here is our campsite tonight.

Today is a tough day for 9 hours trekking, which is a sort of challenge with a good deal of excitement. In the morning, leave our campsite to ascend up through the old-growth forest and then arrive at the tree-line, where we can see the Dokila pass that we are going to climb over.
Have a picnic lunch with hot tea and instant coffee. After a 6-hour climb, we will be at the top of the pass, up there the land is covered by the piles of prayer flags, bowls, yak skulls and so on. From here we’ll drop down along a zigzag “holy path” with pilgrims to another meadow (3670 meters) for camping inside the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

Trek 7 hours. Following a crystal-clear river into a long valley which is covered by immense forest. If you are lucky enough, some wild animals could be encountered. After a 5-hour trek, we come to a shrine for pilgrims, where they left offerings of clothes, bowls, tsamba, money and so on for their next lives.
They believe that they will retrace back after being reborn. Picnic lunch with hot tea and instant coffee will be served. From the shrine we will descend down to the campsite, located by a tributary of Salween river on the other side of Meili Snow Mountain.

Trek 9 hours. The pilgrimage path zigzags up through the untouched dense forest of fir, spruce, oak and pine trees with the beautiful “hanging” moss. After a 6-hour climb, we reach another pass with a shrine, where there is also a mass of offering of prayer flags, clothes, jewelry and so on. This is a good viewpoint for Salween River valley, Gaoligong mountain range and a Tibetan village named Aben in a deep valley down below.
Then downhill to Aben village, where we can sleep on the roof top of Tibetan family, and first chance in the trek: beers, sprite, pepsi are available here as a big luxury. This is also a good chance for our pony owners to have a nice relaxed night with local people.

Trek 5 hours. This day, we will descend down to meet Salween River, on route we’ll enjoy some fascinating stone carvings of Tibetan words and Buddhist images on the cliff, where is revered by Tibetan pilgrims as a shrine. But it is also a pity to see that some of the Buddhist carvings ruined during the Cultural Revolution. Afterwards, we walk along a dirt road to our campsite (1950 meters) by Salween among the woods of cactus.

Trek 4 hours. We carry on by the Salween northward, so arid here but still some Tibetan hamlets scattered on the steep slopes of either side of the Salween. Eventually we come to a comparatively densely populated tiny town (Chawalong) with an old tiny temple. Camp overnight here.

Trek about 4 hours. This day, we will leave the bank of the Salween, following the mysterious Kora path to climb up through some charming Tibetan villages with some interesting tiny temples. We could have a fabulous chance to visit local families with hospitable hosts. Yak butter tea is the priority drink offered to guests here.
Eventually, the Kora path leads us to the campsite, 2840 meters near a cozy nunnery on the slope. Here you could have a nice relaxing afternoon free for saving enough energy for the next day’s long climb.

Trek 8 hours. The Kora path is winding its way to climb up to another pass, with mysterious prayer flags and breathtaking birds-eye view of the Salween River below. Our shepherds will offer a cup of hot tea or coffee here, you will feel that you are at the top of the world at that moment.
Afterwards, the path descends down through fir-tree forest and comes to a “holy spring” for picnic lunch. From here the path have come into being a sandy and winding one on the mountain sides, while below there is a snake-like tributary (Weiqu) of Salween with some fascinating Tibetan villages on the river banks. Then cross Weiqu River by a typical Titetan-style bridge to a village dwelling on the arid mountain side. Here we set up our tents on the roof top of the huge Tibetan houses.

Trek about 7 hours. Today is a big ascent of nearly 1400 meters, we zigzag up along the Kora path heading for the pass of Gebula. Constantly being accompanied by the great views of the arid Weiqu river valley and rocky peaks on the opposite side of Salween.
Then, enter a forest and keep walking through till the campsite (3960 meters). Perch on the steep slope of Gebula pass, which is dominated by some big snow-capped peaks from afar and spectacular river gorges down below. I guess it is the most difficult day for our ponies with so much camp stuff on their backs.

Trek 7 hours. From our campsite we have only a home-stretch distance to climb up, to Gebula pass. There is another shrine for pilgrims. Here our pony owners always hang their new prayer flags on the trees as a sort of offering for a good wish. Afterwards, we descend along a winding path through an immense forest of fir, spruce, birch, oak, pine trees mixed with bamboo and rhododendron.
Then, from time to time, the Kora path is being accompanied by the great views of the snaking Weiqu river blow and spectacular snow peaks of Meili Snow Mountain (in fine weather). Eventually, we cross Weiqu River again and ascend up to our campsite (3210 meters) by a tiny Tibetan village.

Trek about 9 hours. The Kora path leads up steeply through the oak woods with beautiful “hanging moss”. After a 3-hour climb, the path here is getting more gentle through the shrubs and being accompanied by the peaks of Kawa Karpo to the south.
From here the path continues to be heading for the highest pass of Shola. The pass is revered by Tibetan pilgrims as a shrine, where is also piled by an enormous mass of prayer flags, pilgrims walking sticks and clothes and so on. Meanwhile, Shola range is the watershed between Salween and Mekong River, as well as the frontier of Yunnan and Tibetan Autonomous Region. From here we are leaving Tibetan territory and steps into The Mekong valley of Yunnan until the campsite.

Trek 5 hours and drive 4 hours today. It is the final stretch of a 300-km-long path of the Kora, a long descending path along a stunning valley with a crystal-clear river of Meilishui River. On route, there are various pilgrimage sites in the immense forest and many wild flowers.
Eventually, Meilishui River leads us to meet Mekong again, where we’ll reach the finishing point of the Kora. Tibetan pilgrims think what we have done could result in considerable merit. What do you think? From here we’ll drive back to Deqin for a great shower which we have been missing for more than two weeks.

Originated in the Tanggula Mountain on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Jinsha River, Lancang River and Nu River flow parallel along the Hengduan Mountains for several hundred kilometers. More interestingly, their entrances to different seas are thousands of kilometers away. In the morning, we will drive 86 km to the Stone Forest. An old local saying says that ‘If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest, you have wasted your time.’ Truly, the Stone Forest is one of the most important attractions of Yunnan.
After lunch drive back Kunming to visit the Guandu Ancient Town which is a famous historical & cultural town in Kunming. It keeps the main architectural style of Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties.
Take the flight to Tengchong in the late afternoon. Arrive in Heshun Ancient Town in Tengchong City, you will be free in Heshun Ancient Town and enjoy the relax life before the wonderful Three Parallel River Grand Canyons adventure tour.
The Stone Forest has unique karst topography. There are six scenic spots in the Stone Forest: Large Stone Forest, Small Stone Forest, the Naigu Stone Forest, the Zhiyun Cave, the Long Lake, the Da Dieshui Waterfall and the Qifeng Cave.
Tengchong city, a vital link on the ancient Southwestern Silk Route (Kunming-Baoshan-Tengchong-Mangshi-Ruili), is situated in the western part of Yunnan Province, Bordering on Burma in the northwest with a boundary line of 151 kilometers long.

In the morning, drive about 4 hours from Tengchong to Liuku, the county seat of Nujiang Lisu and Pumi Autonomous Prefecture. You will visit Gaoli Gongshan Mountain Natural Reserve Area which is located in the Nujiang River Grand Canyon, the south part of Qing-Tibet Altiplano. With a steep slope and sharp mountain incision, the Grand Canyon presents great vertical natural scenery and various climates. In fact, the vertical drop height is above 4,000 meters.
Drive north along the Nujiang-Salween River. As it’s hot and humid in the gorge here, Dai people who live here use big banyan trees to surround the villages. Tropical plants are grown here such as papaya, pineapple, banana and coffee. The famous Yunnan Coffee is grown in this area near the Nujiang-Salween River.
In the afternoon, you will walk around Liuku Town, visit Nujiang River and Nujiang River Bridge. The Nujiang River is China’s important river flowing from north to south. The name of the river is changed into the Salween River after flowing into Burma from China, and it finally empties into the Andaman Sea of Indian Ocean at the Moulmein.

Drive from Liuku to Gongshan. On the way you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Nujiang Grand Canyon. The 316-kilometer-long Nujiang River Gorge is flanked by two 4,000-meter-high mountains. The gorge is located in Yunnan Province in southwestern China, an area where is rich in ethnic minority culture. It is now a first choice for many domestic and foreign travelers.

In the morning, walk from our hostel to the Base Camp(3,700m). You will trek up about 3 hours to the Mountain pass(3,500m) in the original forests. And one hour trekking down along the horse-road from the mountain pass, we reach the base camp, where the view becomes very open. The tough, 1000-meter-high ascent from Hot Springs to Nazongla Pass, takes 2.5 hours for a fit hiker without carrying any heavy bag. The path zigzagging under the canopy of trees is quite damp and muddy.
A Tibetan house, located at one-third of the route, sells snacks and drinks. No breathtaking view can be spotted at Nazongla Pass. Another alternative is to ride up on a mule. You can easily reach the pass within 2 hours. It costs RMB 100 from Hot Springs to Nazongla Pass either for riding or carrying heavy bags. The descent from Nazongla Pass to the Upper Yubeng Village takes one hour.
Upon arriving at the village, take the trail turning to the left, walk further down to a stream, cross a bridge and climb a small slope up to the Lower Yubeng Village. When you arrive in Yubeng Village. If weather permits, you’ll wake up to a clear view of the Mt. Kawagebo glacier. You will hike to the Sacred Waterfalls(3,400m), from which Yubeng’s name originated. Buddhists on a pilgrimage to the area circumambulate the waterfall 13 times with the belief that this act will erase all sins from his life.
In the early afternoon, we’ll head back to the village lodge, visit sacred sites along the way, Yubeng Sacred Waterfalls(3650 meters). It takes two hours to reach Shenpu from Lower Yubeng Village. The higher you go, the farther you seem to be from Shenpu, the most sacred destination of circumambulation in Meili. On the background of tantalizing Mt. Miacimu, other lofty peaks as well as imposing glaciers, the valley is flamboyantly adorned by thousands of Tibetan prayer flags.

Enjoy the sunrise of the Mt. Kawagebo glacier from the guesthouse, then walk up to Ice Lake of the Meili Snow Mountain.
Walk through the original forest from Yubeng Village, you will see some horses and yaks, as well as some wild animals if you are lucky enough. A beautiful river originates from the Glacier Park, walk along the river with some wooden bridges and spruce trees, you will have a wonderful view of Mt. Kawagebo Glacier. At last, arrive at the Ice Lake which is located at the foot of the glacier. Trek down back to Yubeng village in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset of Kawagebo Peak.
Cuoka Sacred Ice Lake is 1300 meters higher than Yubeng. The ascent takes 5-6 hours.
First three hours is a tough and long climb in a primitive forest where you may encounter local leeches, especially active after the rain. The ordeal will be rewarded later by a spectacular landscape when you reach the high meadow plateau at 4050 meters.
Another one-hour climb, you will reach Cuoka Pasture. There is a collapsed hut.
Last hour: from Cuoka Pasture to Cuoka Lake (4385 meters).
The return trek takes 3-4 hours. This one-day excursion is only reserved for strong hikers. Before June, the upper plateau is often covered by snow. Bring enough food and ask Aqinbu to find a good guide for you. It may be more reasonable to do this trek for two days and overnight camp at Cuoka Pasture.

This day, you won’t go back through Nazongla Pass, the same route that you hiked in, you can venture the steep narrow path along a stream and descend to Ninong Village. You will spend the whole morning walking down in Yubeng Valley. Yubeng River flows all the way into Mekong River. Parts of the trail we will pass is actually a canal dug along the half-way mountain by local villagers.
Have lunch in Ninong village(1,900m), cross Mekong River and 2 hours more trek to Jiabi Village. Finally, drive to Feilaisi and enjoy the sunset view of Meili Snow Mountain.
Meili Snow Mountain, also called Kawakarpo, is a UNESCO scenic spot located in Deqin County dividing Yunnan from Tibet. It is a wonderful place to hike and explore both nature and Tibetan culture. Rising between the Salween River and the Mekong River in the extreme edge of Northwest Yunnan, the Meili Snow Mt. is part of Three Parallel Rivers. Legend says that the Meili Snow Mountain is a god guarding Tibetan Buddhism. With 13 peaks over 6000 meters in the range, the main peak Kawakarpo (“Kawagebo” in Chinese) is a sharp snow mountain with an altitude of 6740 meters, which has never been conquered yet.

In the morning, you will enjoy a nice sunrise view of Meili Snow Mountain from the Sightseeing Platform, where you can see the 13 white pagodas that means the 13 peaks of Meili Snow Mountain over 6,000 meters above sea level.
Drive 6 to 7 hours to Shangri-La. The view along the way is fantastic with different kinds of trees, streams, prayer flags and stupas, as well as Tibetan villages. Start from Deqin County, after one hour drive, you will visit Baimang Snow Mountain Nature Reserve, you will be able to view Baimang Snow Mountain if the weather is clear.
Visit the First Bend of Jinsha River or Moon Bend, which is the boundary between Sichuan and Yunnan. This is different from the First Bend of Yangtze River in Lijiang City. The bend in Shigu Town changes the flow direction of the Yangtze River but Jinsha River is in Benzilan, the Moon Bend is just a grand bend between the mountains with an impressive scenery.
Drive downhill to the Dongzhulin Monastery , which is located in Shusong Village, Benzilan District, Deqin County, and 105 km from the county seat of Zhongdian County. The Yunnan-Tibet Road passes behind the temple and cars can get straight to the temple. The Dongzhulin Monastery was built in 1667, the 6th year of the Kang Xi Period in Qing Dynasty.
After lunch in Benzilan, we will drive along the the upper Yangtze River to Shangri-La. On the way, you will have a panoramic view of Nixi Pottery Village.

The Songzanlin Monastery, often called Ganden Sumtseling Monastery or Guihua Monastery, is located at the foot of Foping Mountain nearby Shangri-La County in Yunnan Province. The monastery is built on a hillside and looks like an ancient fort. The Songzanlin Monastery is often called the little Potala Palace because of its traditional Tibetan architectural style.
At night you will visit a Tibetan family and taste the butter oil tea and Tibetan food.

Your hiking trip starts from Qiaotou, pass through 28 turns. 26 km takes about 6-8 hours. From the top of “28 turns” on the high path further uphill to a place of altitude above 3000 meters, you can have a view of the panorama of the entire upper tiger leaping gorge. Check this at a Tea Horse or Guesthouse if you cannot figure it out yourself.
You will arrive at Halfway Guesthouse to finish today’s trekking. At an altitude of 2500 meters, you get a magnificent view over the Yangtze River and the Yulong Snow Mountain right in front of you. For the keen photographer this trek provides a great opportunity to capture nature’s best moments.
Halfway Guesthouse organizes two-day trekking up Haba Snow Mountain with an overnight stay uphill at a point of altitude above 4000 meters. Sleeping bags and mats for the trek can be rented at the guesthouse. Successful trekkers are awarded “donkey shoes” as souvenirs and their names and contact information will be recorded in the “donkey skin book” at the guesthouse. Similar treks can also be arranged at Five Fingers Mountain Guesthouse.

In the early morning, continue hiking to Tina’s Inn (2 hours). After another hour walking down the steep cliff to the bank of Jinsha River, you will reach the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge (Middle Hutiao or Middle Rapids), it is the narrowest part of the gorge, where a tiger can easily jump over the Jinsha River. Trek from Middle Rapids along the Middle Gorge to Walnut Grove Garden, then drive to the lower part of Gorge, get off and walk for about half an hour to the bank of the River. Then hike further along the road to the lower section of the Gorge (about 1.5-2 hours) where we will take ferry across the River. Not far from the Lower Section of gorge, at the other side of river, is Daju Village, you will get off the ferry and trek about one hour to Daju, whose inhabitants are mostly Naxi people.

In the morning, drive about 2 hours from Daju to Yak Meadow. You’ll visit Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui(White Water) River; take the chairlift to visit the Yak Meadow(3700 meters) in the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain stretches a length of 35 kilometers and a width of 20 kilometers. Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence the name Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The highest peak named Fan Peak (Shanzidou in Chinese) which is about 5596 meters above sea level.
You will enjoy Impression Lijiang Ethnic Show in the mountain directed by Zhang Yimou, which reflect the history about Tea Horse Trade Caravan from the upper Mekong River to Tibet and India. Around 500 local people from 10 ethnic groups were selected from 16 towns and villages in Lijiang of Yunnan Province to perform folk songs, dances and rituals for visitors daily.
In the afternoon, you’ll stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan Town. Visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.

Then drive back to Lijiang Old Town and visit the Wangu Pagoda on the top of the Lion Hill, here you will have a wonderful panoramic view of Lijiang Old Town. You will walk down from the Lion Hill to Mu Emperor’s Palace which is the local chieftain’s former residence.
After dinner, you will attend the Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace in the Lijiang Old Town.

Four and half hours drive to Dali, visit the Dali Old Town to see how people prepare for the Chinese New Year. Markets are very busy as people will buy everything they need for the New Year. Every family cleans their houses and streets and pastes spring couplets, three pieces of red paper with Chinese writing to paste on the door, one on the top and two on left and right side, to express their good wishes for coming year. Dinner is the time for family gathering.

Visit thousand-year-old Three Pagodas and Congsheng Temple, which is the biggest Buddhist Temple in the Southeast Asia. Dali is the Kingdom of Bai people, with Cangshan Mountain on the west and Erhai Lake on the east, people just live on the fertile land between the Mt. Cangshan and Lake Erhai. The area of Dali used to be an independent country called Nanzhao and Dali Kingdoms. Bai people created the own culture and festivals for thousands of years. Take the cable car up to Cangshan Mountain at 2550 meters, visit Zhonghe Temple and walk on the Clouds Road where you can have a bird’s eye view of Dali.

Three hours drive to Mt. Jizu, visit Buddhist Zhusheng Temples and walk for three hours up to the top of the mountain. If you don’t want to climb all the way up, you can walk for an hour and then take the chairlift up to the top. There on the mountain top, you will join the locals for the Jizu Mountain Worshiping Festival to pray and express good wishes. Usually, people will go to the Mt Jizu for a couple of times for their wishes. The first time they go there is to ask for the good wishes, when their wishes come true, they will go back again to express the thanks to the God, and they may have new wishes again.

Get up early to see the sunrise of Mt. Jizu, you can take photos there. Then walk down to visit some temples on the way back and drive to Lijiang. Lijiang is the home of the matriarchal Naxi culture, which is protected as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. Lijiang was at the end of the Tibetan tea caravan route that gave rise to the Naxi women’s strong commercial bent as successful shopkeepers and traders.

In the morning, drive about 30 KM to Ganhaizi Meadow(3100 meters), you will take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishuihe River, then take the chairlift up to visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The cableway will be arranged according to the condition of the mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Yak Meadow(3700 meters).
After lunch, you’ll stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan town. Visit the Baisha Murals about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.
Then visit Lijiang Old Town built hundreds years ago in a traditional style with rivers running through the town. Now it is also the culture heritage of the UNESCO.

Drive about 2.5 hours to Qiaotou and visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge with the drops of 3900 meters from hilltop to the Yangtze River. The whole gorge is 19 km long with three very narrow parts, only 30 meters between the banks. It’s said that once someone saw a tiger jumped over the River and so called Tiger Leaping Gorge. Four hours drive to Jianchuan with a visit to the first bend of the Yangtze. Visit Shaxi Ancient Town in the late afternoon.

Tengchong is the city of the jade, people here has the tradition of processing jade for a long history. Jade is mined in Burma and processed in Tengchong and sold to the Chinese communities all over the world.

Visit One-Tree Forest, as the weather is hot and wet here, there are some old big banyan trees growing in the area, sometimes one banyan trees covers thousands of square meters. Visit the colorful frontier market on the Myanmar border. Drive to Zhangfeng Town in Longchuan County and enjoy the Munaozongge Festival of the Jingpo ethnic minority.

The Munaozongge Festival takes place in a Jingpo village near Ruili, before the festival, Jingpo people from the mountains nearby would come down to the village and set up the tents for the festival duration. Thousands of people dance together but in proper orders, amazing and spectacular.

Get up early in the morning, enjoy the nice view of vast rape fields from the top of Jinjiling Mountain. Every year in February, when rape flowers bloom, what shows before your eyes is the biggest garden in the world and a sea of yellow flowers measuring over 130 square kilometers. This gorgeous view make Luoping, a remote small county, become the most popular destination in spring.
Move to Niujie for different types of rape fields view, the farmlands there are cultivated in spiral shapes. NiuJie is a few kilometers to the north of Luoping county. The farms there are of smaller scale. The flowers are grown in circular rings following the contours of the slopes.
In the afternoon, visit Jiulong Waterfalls, it is regarded as one of China’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls, as well as an excellent place to photograph. Firstly, take a cable car or climb up the hill to the platform overlooking the valley and the waterfalls and photograph the grand vista. Secondly, walk down the hill to the biggest waterfall (56 meters high and 112 meters wide) to photograph it up closely.

In the morning, take the boat cruise to visit Puzhehei Scenic Resort. Puzhehei in northwest Qiubei County is a fairyland in which visitor can have a panoramic view of clear lakes and pond full of lotus, emerald mountains and enchanting karst landscape. This charming countryside is also an ideal place to view the pomp in festivals of the Yao, Miao and Yi minorities. July to August is the best time to admire the most beautiful country landscape of Puzhehei, because the lotus blossoms are in their florescence.
Puzhehei means the lake with many fish and shrimps in the language of the Yi people. The lake water is limpid and you can even see the bed of the lake. Rowing the boat on the lake, the tourists can see many fish and shrimps swimming in the water. Up till now the local people still keep the habit of holding water with hands to ease the thirst. In the scenic spot there are 312 peaks standing independent from each other, 56 lakes which are clear and without any pollution, 83 kinds of caves, a great many water lilies which give off faint scents.
In the afternoon, drive to Bamei Village, which is reputed as “Xanadu” or “Arcadia”, access by boat from the cave. Take the boat cruise into the village and enjoy the peaceful life of Zhuang ethnic people. Stay overnight at the local hostel.

In the morning, walk around Bamei Village and visit Bamei River. You have a nice experience of Zhuang ethnic people’s life in the village.
Reputed as one of the most isolated communities of Zhuang minority in Guangnan, Bamei is a village without roads. Even up to now, the Bamei River is still the only access in and out of the village. Due to inconvenient location and hard transit, the village escaped bother of outsiders and the influences of the modern world, staying as unadorned and pure as they always were.
When night falls, villagers light their oil lamps. Bonfires are built to welcome tourists. As the local children run about in the glow of the flames, one cannot wonder if this fairyland, once hidden but now on the map, may soon lose its innocence and become another contrived tourist attraction.

Drive about 5 hours to Yuanyang via Kaiyuan and Gejiu, you will visit Malipo Miao Ethnic Village one the way. Laohuzui Rice Terraces are situated about 20 kilometers from the Yuanyang county. The best moment to enjoy the marvelous rice terraces view is during the sunset period. Literally translated from Chinese, Laohuzui means ‘Tiger Mouth’. It seems it is possible to distinguish the form as a tiger mouth in the rice fields; while some others think it’s kind of the shape of a horse.

From winter to early spring, the entire field is irrigated with spring water from the forest above to rejuvenate and getting prepared for the next season. The Hani people have repeated this for more than a thousand years. There is only one harvest in a year for the Yuanyang Rice Terrace; the growing period is from March to Oct./Nov. every year.

After breakfast in the hotel, drive about 3 hours to Jianshui County. On the way, visit Jianshui Swallow Cave which is the largest karst formation cave in Asia. There are usually thousands of swallows flying around in this aptly named cave. You will follow a guide in the cave to see the striking caverns and also to see the bare hand rock climbing performance in the cave. Walk into the cave and visit the colorful Karst landform, then take the small boat cruise out of the cave. Arrive in Jianshui Ancient Town in the afternoon, pay a visit to Jianshui Ancient Town, Zhu Family Garden and Confucius Temple. Visit the famous Confucius Temple with its profound history. Confucious was born in Shandong province 2,500 years ago and taught more than 3,000 students in his lifetime, among them 72 were outstanding. He is the greatest teacher in China’s history and has worldwide influence.
Jianshui is a state historic and cultural city. The climatic condition here is pleasant, neither hot in summer nor cold in winter. Moreover, it is one of the earliest developed cities in south Yunnan that enjoys the fame of being an ancient cultural city and important gateway.

Drive to Tuanshan Village about 15 KM away from Jianshui Ancient Town, visit the Zhang Family Garden, the ancient houses and the Double Dragon Bridge. After lunch, on the way back to Kunming, visit Xingmeng Mongolia Village in Tonghai County of Yuxi City. It is the one and only Mongolia village in Yunnan.

Arrive in Jianshui Ancient Town in the afternoon, pay a visit to Jianshui Ancient Town, Zhu Family Garden and Confucius Temple. Explore the famous Confucius Temple with its interesting history. Confucius was born in Shandong province 2,500 years ago and taught more than 3,000 students in his lifetime, among them 72 were outstanding. He is the greatest teacher in China’s history and has worldwide influence.
Jianshui is a state historic and cultural city. The climatic condition here is pleasant, neither hot in summer nor cold in winter. Moreover, it is one of the earliest developed cities in south Yunnan that enjoys the fame of being an ancient cultural city and important gateway.

The Yunnan Ethnic Villages is located at a narrow peninsula at the north shore of Dian Lake. 25 minorities, including Yi, Dai, Miao, Jingpo, Wa, Hani, Naxi, Dulong, etc, have been built here. Through various displays and re-creations of the original villages, the Yunnan Ethnic Villages display the diverse local ethnic culture. Villages of different styles are well arranged and show visitors their unique charm.
Yunnan Nationalities Museum is located on the east bank of Dianchi Lake next to Yunnan Ethnic Villages in Kunming City, China. Completed in 1995, it is a comprehensive ethnology museum. Covering an area of over 200 mu, the museum has a building area of 130,000 square meters. It consists of various exhibition halls, office building, report hall, storage and workshops. The ecological environment, religious customs, culture and arts and ethnic relics of the ethnic groups of Yunnan are collected in it. The 120,000 items of objects fall into the 16 categories such as ethnic groups, dresses and personal adornment, technique, arts, ecology, ancient books, and strange stones etc. The Museum and Yunnan Ethnic Villages facilitate the understanding of the history, culture and customs of the 25 ethnic minorities in static and dynamic ways, in microscopic and macroscopic perspectives, in different angles and at various levels.
The Golden Temple is located on top of Mingfeng (Singing Phoenix) Hill, the home of the Taoist Taihe Palace (Hall of Supreme Harmony), which is the largest copper temple in China. It is also known as the Tongwa Temple (Bronze Tile Temple) and by its popular name, the Golden Temple. The history of the Golden Temple starts during the Ming Dynasty and the reign of the Emperor Wanli in 1602. Except for the staircases and balustrades, which are made of marble, the walls, columns, rafters, roof tiles, altars, Buddha statues, wall decorations and the banner near the gate tower are all made of copper. The burnished copper gleamed like gold and that is why people named it the Golden Temple. Since its last renovation, this beloved copper temple on the top of Mingfeng Hill has been well cared and has become the most famous Taoist shrine in Yunnan Province.

No wonder that the place has gained a reputation as ‘having the most pleasant environment in the world’. There are wonderful scenic spots such as Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Sanqing Pavilion and Dragon Gate. Huating Temple is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Yunnan Province. It had been destroyed and rebuilt several times most recently in 1923.
After the tour , you will transfer to visit Yunnan Ethnic Villages where is located on the northeastern shore of Dianchi Lake and is a good place to show visitors the cultures and traditions of the numerous ethnic groups in the Yunnan province. In the Village, 25 different independent villages have been planned, but at present only about 20 have been constructed. In addition to these “ethnic villages”, there are activities like a welcoming ceremony with performing White Elephants, the Dinosaur Island theme park area, a concert area for ethnic singing and dancing performances, as well as an Asian Elephant show in the Plaza of Ethnic Unity.

In the morning, our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby, then drive 1.5 hours to the renowned Stone Forest, the ‘First Wonder of the World’. You’ll marvel at its natural stone masterpieces and be bewitched by the intricate formations. After the tour, you will transfer 2.5-3 hours to Luoping. On arrival, visit Luositian (Snail Filed). The fields here are of smaller scale. The flowers are grown in circular rings following the contours of the slopes and the it got the name because the field looks like the rings of a snail’s shell.

Set out early enough to arrive at Jinjiling in time for sunrise photography. Jinjifeng(Golden Rooster Hill) is the most famous spot for photographing rapeseed flowers. It offers an excellent and expansive view of the fields and hills. Lingyi Temple, located in the middle of the hill, offers a perfect platform for photographing the fields and sunset.
Then transfer to Jiulong Waterfalls(Nine dragons waterfalls) to photograph the waterfalls. It is regarded as one of China’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls. Firstly, take a cable car or climb up the hill to the platform overlooking the valley and the waterfalls and photograph the grand vista. Secondly, walk down the hill to the biggest waterfall (56 meters high and 112 meters wide) to photograph it up closely.
Finally, take a bamboo tour along the Duoyi River and see the Buyi ethnic village nearby.

In the morning, you will move to see the the Cliff Paintings which were created 3,000 years ago, ranking among the oldest cliff paintings in the whole China. Eleven paintings are scattered across several towns in the county. These frescoes are carved on the cliff usually 1,500 meters above the sea level, they depict the daily life and work of locals at the time. The color of the paintings has been known for changing with variations in sunlight, weather and temperature.
Wa ethnic group is an age-old and mysterious minority. People there in Cangyuan have worked hard for more than 3000 years and have created its unique glorious culture. Cangyuan County in southwest of Yunnan province has 3000-year-old cliff painting, Nangunhe Nature Reserve, highly-protected original ecology and abundant animal and plant resources.
The activities of the “Monihei Carnival” of Wa ethnic group mainly involve a grand opening ceremony of song and dance performance, ethnic arts tour, a crazy and passionate “making you black” activity with thousand of people’s participation, ancient cliff painting worship, songs about life in Washan Mountain, campfire party and Wa songs concert.
It is said that the festival takes its meaning from the custom that the people smear the pot ash, ox blood and mud on faces to frighten the evils and seek peace. Tourists can use natural paints to smear each other and pray for each other. “Monihei Carnival” has attracted more and more tourists both from home and abroad to join the activity.

Today, you will take one way sightseeing train about 2.5hrs from Jianshui town to Tuanshan village, going through the 12.82 km narrow-gauge railway(soft class seat). Enjoy the view of field, village on the way. And have a stop at Twin Dragon Bridge to take the picture, which is a 17-hole bridge with 148 meters long, 3-8 meters wide.
Then take off the train, make a tour of Tuanshan Village which is a rare surviving example of an intact-albeit neglected-traditional walled Yunnan village compound in southwestern China, and has been added to the 2005 list of internationally significant sites by the World Memorial Fund for Architecture (WMF), an international fund for the protection of world heritage sites.
Afterward, drive back to Jianshui city and have the tour of Zhu Family Garden. The so-called ‘Grand View Garden’ of South Yunnan Province, is a representative of Chinese residential houses of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). When walking through the garden, it really seems as if you are strolling through the Grand View Garden depicted in ‘A Dream of the Red Mansions’ (a famous Chinese Classical novel by Cao Xueqin (1724-1764) in the Qing Dynasty). This garden was the residence and ancestral temple of the rich man Zhu Weiqing and his brother in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
