The monastery was built on a hillside and looks like an ancient fort. The Songzanlin Monastery is often called as the little Potala Palace because of its traditional Tibetan architectural style. Located 15 km north of Lijiang old town, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain stretches 35 km from north to south with 960-square-kilometers of snow-capped area. Experts say that it has the southernmost glacier in the North Hemisphere. Of all the 13 peaks on the mountain, Shanzidou is the highest with an altitude of 5,596 meters above sea level. “New Rice” Festival is one of the traditional festivals of the Wa ethnic minority. In the past, it used to be spent when the rice was ripe for harvest, and would last three days. During the festival, ladies would collect some rice from farmlands; dry and then husk them. Day 1 Kunming-Cangyuan-Shuangjiang

Fly to Cangyuan and drive to Najing natural Nationality Village, the Dai village in Shuangjiang, then head for Rongkangda Wulongshan Manor to visit the base of tea planting and processing.

-Dai village in Najing retains the traditional customs of the Dai nationality. The 300- year- old banyan tree, various precious trees, and you can experience the simple and rustic country life here. You can also see wild peacocks living in the primitive forest if you are lucky.

-13 kilometers from Shuangjiang county, there is a manor called Rongkangda Wulongshan with charming scenery. It involves tea plantation, processing, leisure vacation and boutique hotel. Walking into the picturesque tea manor and having a view of the mountains below, it is just like a fairyland. Stepping into the teak wood road and feeling the great ecological environment, you can not stop relaxing and being happy.

Drive to Cangyuan County(沧源县) after breakfast to visit Cangyuan Cliff Painting and Thousand-Meter Gallery.

-The cliff paintings of Cangyuan is said to take on different colors as the time, weather and humidity change. According to the proverb of the local Wa and Thai people that the cliff painting changes three times a day: in the morning the color is red, at noon lighter and in the evening purple. Nowadays the paintings have already been designated as the key historical relic protection unit at the provincial level.

-Thousand-Meter Gallery, is also called Menglai Grand Canyon, situated at the middle part of the scenic spot. The rock paintings in the area is about 3KM. The cliff is about 80-180 meters high and the highest one is about 280 meters. Some of the cliff surface is ragged like a honeycomb, and some are flat and smooth as if cut by the axe, while some are just like the terraced fields. Due to the erosion of some special materials and the decoration of the climbing plants, the surface the cliff becomes colorful just like a giant rock paintings reflecting the vicissitudes of the nature.

Visit Yonghe Border Port– the 167th boundary monument after breakfast, farseeing the Wa States of Myanmar; the Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County is over 800 km away from Kunming, adjacent to the neighboring Thailand and Laos, south and south-west border with myanmar countries. Yonghe Border Port is a nationally second-grade opening port and 14 km away from Cangyuan County center, directly to all the major cities of Burma. Then visit Guangyun Burmese Temple, which is built in Qing dynasty and has influence on Theravada Buddhism among southwestern ethnic groups of Yunnan.

Head for Wengding Village after lunch(about three and a half hours) to learn the Wa culture and visit their house, cemetery, head pile, the village post and so on.

-Guangyun Burmese Temple is one of the most influential temples that have influence on Theravada Buddhism among southwestern ethnic groups of Yunnan. It is a Theravada Buddhism building that located in the north of Mengdong town in Canyuan county, which is built in Qing dynasty, and also called “Xuetang Burmese Temple”. It is has been 170 years since Guanyuan Burmese Temple was built in 1828, when Wang government has a civil war with GengMa chieftain and then appoint HanRonggao as a new chieftain. Its constructing style was influenced mostly by Han people; meanwhile, it maintained the basic style of Theravada temples. It is a combination of external style of Han buildings and internal decoration style in courtyard of Dai people, such a unique construction style it is! Guangyun Burmese Temple was listed into the third batch of national key protection cultural relics by the State Council on January 13, 1988, due to its important position of history, territory, humanity cultures and religions.

-Yonghe Border Port is a nationally second-grade opening port, which was opened in 1996, a commercial port which connects Cangyuan and Myanmar. It is 14 km away from Cangyuan County center, facing Shaopa region of Mengmao County in Myanmar across the bridge. The 167th boundary monument shares the territory of China and Myanmar, belonging to the two countries. It becomes an unique tourist area cross the border. Va ethnic group in China and Myanmar inhabit harmoniously for generations who share their lives & culture.

-Wengding Village(翁丁村) , is located in 40km away from Cangyuan(沧源) Wa Autonomous County , the southwest of Lincang, Yunnan province.This is one of the best- preserved ancient Wa ethnic communites in China today. The Village was list as the third batch of national famous tourism villages with characteristic landscape by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development and National Tourism Administration on Oct,2015. It is 17km away from the township government and 39 km from the seat of Cangyuan county, The traffic there is very convenient and the roads to country side are laid with asphalt.

Day 1 Arrive in Cangyuan

Take the flight to Lincang City, after landing, drive about 4 hours to Cangyuan County. It is a long driving but with very nice scenery on the way. Firstly drive to Shuangjiang Lahu, Va, Blang and Dai Autonomous County, visit the Dai,Va, Lahu and Bulang ethnic villages on the way.

Shuangjiang Dai, Bulang and La is a multi-minorities county in the border city Lincang. The 453,705 members of China’s Lahu ethnic group live primarily in Yunnan’s Lancang Lahu Autonomous County and neighboring counties such as Menglian, Shuangjiang, and Simao. This region is also home to Hans, Dais, Yis, Hanis, Blangs, and Was.

The Lahu trace their ancestry back to the ancient Qiang people, who immigrated to present day northern Yunnan from northwestern China early in the third century AD. Arrive in Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County in the afternoon, after dinner you will enjoy the Bonfire Night Carnival in Monihei Square in the downtown.

As one of the only two Chinese Wa autonomous Counties, Cangyuan County in southwest China’s Yunnan province has 3000 year-old cliff painting, Nangunhe Nature Reserve, highly-protected original ecologies and abundant animal and plant resources.

The activities of the “Monihei Carnival” of Wa ethnic group in Cangyuan County mainly involved a grand opening ceremony of song and dance performance — “heavy colored Wa Mountain”, ethnic arts tour, a crazy and passionate “making you black” activity with tens of thousand of persons’ participation, ancient cliff painting worship, songs about life in Wa Mountain, campfire party, and Wa songs concert.

It is said this festival takes its meaning from the custom that the people smear the pot ash, ox blood and mud on other persons’ face to frighten the evils and seek peace. The players can use natural paints to smear each other and pray for each other. –The wooden drum dance is an indispensable dance in traditional sacrificial activities of the Wa Minority in China. The dance, led by a sorcerer, is performed throughout the sacrificial rituals held in the twelfth month of the lunar calendar each year.

The wooden drum is a “divine instrument” handed down from one generation to another among the Wa people. It is regarded as the source of the procreation of the Wa Minority. According to the Wa legend, in the beginning of the creation of the world, a huge flood almost engulfed all lives on earth, but the Wa people’s ancestors were saved by the god with a wooden tank. So the Wa people survived till this day. Since then, the wooden tank has been worshiped with the ultimate piousness by the Wa people.

The two-meter-plus-long wooden drum used in the dance symbolizes the tank. In sacrificial dances, the wooden drum gives out low and deep sounds, with clear and melodious rhythms from time to time, providing ideal accompaniment.

Day 1 Arrive in Kunming

You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating province of Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming. Upon arrival at the Kunming International Airport, meet your local guide and transfer to the hotel.
 
You will take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. If time permits, you will have a Kunming city tour. 

— Kunming is the capital of southwest China’s Yunnan province, a primarily agricultural province of 45 million. Kunming has a population of five million and is located in one of the world’s most geographically, ethnically, biologically and linguistically diverse regions. Situated at 1,900 meters (6,233ft) above sea level and 25° north of the Equator it has a rather unique and pleasant climate for a Chinese city.

Day 2 Kunming-Stone Forest- Jinghong by Airplane

You will drive 86 km to the the Stone Forest. An old local saying says that ‘If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest, you have wasted your time.’ Truly, the Stone Forest is one of the most important attractions of Yunnan. After lunch drive back to Kunming to visit the Guandu Ancient Town which is a famous historical & cultural town in Kunming, which keeps the main architectural style of Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties.

After that, drive to Kunming airport, take the flight to Jinghong, meet your local guide and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 Jinghong-Yiwu-Menglun

Go along the Mekong River to Ganlanba, a major residential area of Dai People, see a lively daily market where local people sell or buy food and other native products. Drive to Yiwu, a small town once boomed due to tea trade in the history, see the old part of town and the stele erected in Qing Dynasty that recorded the trade situation at that time, pay a visit to local families that are still producing Pu’er Tea the traditional way. Back to Menglun, visit the biggest Tropical Botanical Garden of China, enjoy the nice view and quietness in the garden. 

Day 4 Jinghong-Puer

Enjoy morning freshness in the botanical garden, have a relaxing walk in rainforest zone for a short experience, leave botanical garden for Jinuo Mountain Area, visit Jinuo People uniquely belonging to this region, the last nationality classified by Chinese Government in 1979. See the ancient tea plantations around Jinuo village, which used to be part of cradles of famous Pu’er Tea, try Wrap- charcoaled Tea and Salad Tea Jinuo people prepare in their traditional way. Move to Simao, stop en route to get view of vast tea plantation near Dadugang. See the ancient tea caravan way that still winds its way on ridges of mountains, of which the paving stones are still telling people the former prosperity of tea trade on this way, pay a visit to local family that used to run hostel specially for tea transporting caravans in the past. Further to Pu’er, a town that once was the tea distribution center of South Yunnan, after which Pu’er Tea was named by tea businessmen who gathered here. Stay in Pu’er.

Day 9 Lijiang-Baoshan Stone Town

This morning, visit Shuhe Old Town, a traditional Naxi Nationality Village famous for leather craft, used to be an important leather market on former Ancient Tea Caravan Way, to feel the relaxing atmosphere given by stone bridges, rivers crossing village and local people’s idyllic rural life.  You will see the symbol of Lijiang, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, holy mountain in local Naxi people’s hearts. Further drive along countryside road to Bao Shan Stone Town , a village located by the upriver Yangtze, built on top of a protruding rocky hill. Stay at local guesthouse in village.

Day 10 Baoshan Stone Town- Lijiang

Have a walk in the stone town, wander in narrow lanes to observe the authentic life of local Naxi people, to explore how they could built houses on craggy and rocky mountain to keep their homes from invasion in bygone days. Back to Lijiang, pay a visit to Yu Feng Monastery and Baisha Old Town. Then Black Dragon Pond (Known as Jade Spring Park also), which is famous for assorted pavilions of Naxi style and its crystal water, in good weather, pavilions, arch bridge, willows growing on the bank, Jade Snow Mountain behind, together with their reflections in the water will compose a very beautiful view. 

Day 11 Lijiang-Tiger Leaping Gorge-Shangri-La

From Lijiang, you’ll drive about 60KM to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, visit the Iron Chain Bridge, the Red Army’s Long March Memorial Monument in the Shigu Town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks. You will have an experience of the floating from the First Bend of the Yangtze River to Longpan Town, after one hour floating, meet the driver and transfer to Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Afternoon, you’ll head for Shangri La, the former Zhongdian which is well-known as the paradise destination for every tourist.

Upon arrival in Shangri-La, you will have entered the Tibetan cultural area and a landscape of barley fields and yaks scattered in the valleys. 

— Tiger Leaping Gorge is on the Jinsha River of the upper reaches of the Yangtze, located 105 kilometers south of Shangrila County. The gorge is 17 kilometers long with a drop of 213 meters. Tiger Leaping Gorge is divided into three sections: Upper, Middle and Lower Hutiao. At the narrowest spot the river is only 30 meters wide. The mouth of the gorge is 1,800 meters above sea level. The river is flanked by Yulong and Haba snow mountains, with a height difference of 3,900 meters. It is one of the deepest gorges in the world.

Day 12 Shangri-La

In the morning, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, so named because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere. And afterwards you’ll visit the tranquil Shudu Lake in Pudacuo National Park . The Park is located in one of the most biologically-diverse regions of the world. While the region comprises only 0.7 percent of China’s land area, it contains more than 20 percent of the country’s plant species, about one-third of its mammal and bird species and almost 100 endangered species.

Visit Dukezong Tibetan Ancient Town in the late afternoon, climb up to the top of Guishan Hill or tortoise Hill, you will see the largest Prayer Wheel of the world and have a panoramic view of shangrila county and Dukezong Ancient Town. (Optional: Finally, you will have an option to visit a Tibetan’s family to experience the local life in the bonfire party with Tibetan dance and music and you will try Tibetan home-made yak and cheese).

Day 2 Tiger Leaping Gorge – Haba Village – Base Camp

Drive from Qiaotou Town to Haba Village. Today we will embark on a beautiful, but demanding hike from Haba Village (2600m) to the base camp (4100m) of Haba Snow Mountain. The trek is approx 15km and will take around 6-8 hours. We will pass by yak pastures and azalea forests and enjoy a picnic lunch on the way. We will reach the base camp in the afternoon.
 
–The Haba Mountain, with its main peak being 5,396 meters in height, stands 120 kilometers to the southeast of the seat of Shangri-La. And its domain of 21,908 hectares, covered with a vertical distribution of forests, is rich in wildlife and plant resources. The nature reserve extends 22 kilometers from south to north and 19 kilometers from east to west. About half of the 13,000 kinds of plants in Yunnan could be found in here. The primeval forest serves as the valuable scientific research base. In addition, there are more than 900 varieties of rare medicinal materials, more than 25 species of protect animals at the national grade and about 50 kinds of azalea.

Day 3 Base Camp-Top of Haba-Base Camp

Set out in the early morning (4:00am) for the 4km (5 hour) hike to the top of Haba Snow Mountain(5396m), passing over two snowy slopes before reaching the top. It is not a technical trek but requires a lot of energy as the altitude is high and the slopes are long. From the top you will get spectacular views of the Tiger Leaping Gorge 3500 vertical meters below!!! Descend for 3 hours down to the Base Camp for overnight stay.

Day 4 Base Camp-Yellow and Black Lake – Haba Village

Day 5 Haba Village – Lijiang

Day 1 Arrival in Kunming

Welcome to Kunming, the Spring City of China! Upon arrival at the Kunming airport/train station, the local tour guide and driver will meet you in the arrival hall and escort you to your hotel. You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating province of Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming.

After a short rest, stroll in the most picturesque park in Kunming urban area – the Green Lake Park, a charming area of tea houses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. Here you can share the happiness of local people’s doing tai chi, performing local opera, and other vibrant activities. If you visit the park in November or December, you will see the grandeur of huge flocks of red-beaked seagulls that migrate there from Siberia.

Day 2 Kunming-Dali

In the morning, visit Kunming Botanic Garden where you can see the plants and flowers of Yunnan. Four and half hours drive to Dali in the afternoon. Afterwards, visit Dali Ancient Town which is 13 kilometers away from Xiaguan in Dali City. It can be dated back to the year 1382 during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and has been among the top listed historical cities of China since 1982. With Erhai Lake to the east, and Cangshan Mountain to the west, its grand city wall, traditional Bai ethnic minority folk houses and marvelous scenery have been attracting many visitors. The tour in Dali Ancient Town will include the Foreigners Street, the Gate Towers and the Ancient City Wall. 

Day 3 Dali

One-day trip in Dali to visit the Cangshan Mountain. We will drive up the hill with some stops to see the flowers of the area. The Cangshan Mountain, also known as Diancangshan, is named after its verdant forests. The Canshan Mountain is a chain of the Yunlin Mountain of the Hengduan Mountains. Starting at Eryuan in the north and ending at Xiaguan in the south, it measures 42 km in length and 25 km in width. Overlooking the Erhai Lake in the east, the Cangshan Mountain is of great splendors and the scenery is unique. The Cangshan Mountain comprises 19 peaks, the highest of which is Malong Peak at an elevation of 4122 meters above sea level. It is snow-capped all the year round with a moraine lake on the summit. There are 18 brooks running down the 19 peaks. The snow-melted water between every two peaks rushes down and converges into the Erhai Lake. Cangshan Mountain boasts of a rich vegetation of numerous rate flowers, trees, and other plants. It is called a national alpine botanical garden. You can find many alpine flowers, of which azaleas are the most famous in the Cangshan Mountain.

Day 4 Dali – Shaxi – Laojun Mountain National Park

This morning, drive to visit Shaxi Old Town. Shaxi is the last remaining ancient market town of its kind on the Tea & Horse Caravan Trail. This trail is a trading route that connected Tibet, Sichuan, and Yunnan to countries in southeast Asia, also called the Southern Silk Road. The World Monuments Fund (WMF) has listed Shaxi as one of the 100 most endangered sites in the world in 2001.

Drive to Mt. Laojunshan.  It has virtually been untouched by any urban development. This place covers an area of 2,340 square km and is approximately 93 km west of Lijiang City. This mountain has become a well-known spot in Yunnan for many species of plants like peony, rhododendron and begonia.

Day 5 Laojun Mountain National Park – Tiger Leaping Gorge

Set out in the early morning (4:00am) for the 4km (5 hour) hike to the top of Haba Snow Mountain (5396m), passing over two snowy slopes before reaching the top. It is not a technical trek but requires a lot of energy as the altitude is high and the slopes are long. From the top you will get spectacular views of the Tiger Leaping Gorge 3500 vertical meters below!!! Descend for 3 hours down to the Base Camp for overnight stay.

Note: If the weather does not permit us to climb Haba Mountain, we will give up the climbing. If you do not want to climb to the top of Haba Snow Mountain, we will cut this day Haba Mountain climbing tour, and trek down to Haba Village in this day.

Day 8 Base Camp-Yellow and Black Lake – Haba Village

Enjoy the sunrise over Haba Mountain. Spend the morning doing a circular route of approx. 3-4 hours treking to Black Sea Lake or Heihai (4170 m) in front of the Haba Mountain, through meadows, forests and rivers. In the late afternoon, arrive at Haba Village. Stay at Haba Snow Mountain Hostel.

Day 9 Haba Village – Baishuitai – Shangrila

Drive to the Baishuitai Terraces and carry on to Shangri-La via some mountain passes at 4000m. We will make some stops to see different kinds of Azaleas and many other flowers on the way. Check in hotel in Shangrila.

Day 10 Shangrila

In the morning, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, so named because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere.

And afterwards you’ll visit the tranquil Bita Lake & Shudu Lake in Pudacuo National Park. Pudacuo National Park is located in one of the most biologically-diverse regions of the world. While the region comprises only 0.7 percent of China’s land area, it contains more than 20 percent of the country’s plant species, about one-third of its mammal and bird species and almost 100 endangered species. Have a visit of the local Tibetan family.

Day 11 Shangrila-Lijiang

Drive to Lijiang. You will be relaxed around Lijiang Old Town, a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture, is a central town of the Lijiang Autonomous County of the Naxi Ethnic Minority in Yunnan Province. Located on the plateau which is 2,400 meters above the sea level and embraced by the tree-covered Lion Mountain in the west, Elephant and Golden Row Mountains in the north, vast fertile fields in the southeast and crystal clear water running through, the old town looks like a big jade ink slab, therefore got the alias the Town of Big Ink Slab (Dayanzhen).

Then visit the Black Dragon Pool(also Heilongtan), or Jade Spring(Yuquan) Park is the main headwater of the Yushui River which goes through the Old Town. People believe that the gods of the Naxi people are living in the chestnut woods, beside the mouth of springs, behind the carved doors and below the bridges. The springs come from the god-protected mountains and gather in this place and finally form the dragon pool. Then water goes down a waterfall and becomes the Yuhe River, pouring life to the Old Town.

Afterwards, visit Shuhe Old Town. It is not only a very important town in the Tea-horse Road that leads to Tibet, but also a famous cobbler town. The cobblers here are as skillful as those in Italy. The leather products that they make are the best seller in Tea-horse Road. Because of trading activities along this road, the Naxi people gradually gave up the nomadic life and settled for farming and later started to do business.

Day 12 Lijiang

Enjoy the sunrise of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Lijiang Ancient Town in the morning, drive about 30KM to Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M), you will take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishuihe River, take the chairlift up to visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The cableway will be arranged according to the condition of the mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Spruce Meadow(3200M).

After lunch, you you’ll visit Yuhu Village and the Former Residence of Joseph Rock who was an Austria-American botanist and explorer, lived in Yuhu village and other places in that region from 1922 to 1949. He was also a naturalist and Photographer, and the first foreign scholar to introduce Lijiang ethnic culture to the western world.

Stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Naxi style old town. Visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.

Remark: the whole group formed into 5 teams (6 persons in one team ) to finish 5 tasks within 2.5hours ) Each team will get a mission card once finish the mission, the team who finish all 5 tasks in the shortest time is the winner of the game.  

[Missions Introduction:]

1 ) Find a local person –Mr. Wang in the main square

A local person in the photo wandering in the street waiting for you to find him out! The time limited for this task is 20 minutes and the watchword for you to find this right person is “Q：Are you Mr. Wang ? A：Enjoy the journey!”. A team photo with this person is required after the task.

2) Naxi village: Interpret words in hieroglyphic

Nanxi people has its own ancient characters originated from hieroglyphic. Can you understand this words in hieroglyphic? Please complete your interpretation of this sentence from hieroglyphic into Chinese.  Please take a team photo of a pose with ancient characters.  

3) Lahu village: Learn Cross-bow shooting 

To learn cross-bow shooting at Lahu Village. Task of this village is that each team need 3 students to shoot the red bull’s eye.

4) Yi village: Looking for Yi Totem— Tiger element
Tiger is the totem of Yi people, please find and take picture with the 3 difference image of Tiger in the village and show the picture to the staff to get the mission card. 

5) Wa village — to play peg-top in Wa village
To learn play peg-top and keep the top running 2 minutes to finish the task.

At noon, you can have a rest in the hotel. About 3:00 pm, go on your bird watching at Nianhu Lake until the black-necked fly away.

Get up in the early morning to watch the birds flying through the sunshine. After breakfast, drive to Dashanbao township of Zhaotong City( about 235 km, 5 hours driving).  Zhaotong is aprefecture-level city located in the northeast corner of Yunnan province of Southwest China.  

During the road to Dashanbao Scenic Resort, you will pass through “Xianrentian” , a meadow which you will feel like in Mongolia. Then visit Tiaodun Lake. About 5:00 pm, climb up to Jigongshan Mountain  to watch the sunset. Jigongshan Mountain is a spectacular scenery in Dashanbao Scenic Area. The riverbank suddenly narrowed when flows into this area, and the high mountains beans are interlockin. With a drop with more than 2000 m, formed the very magnificent wonders like sea of clouds. It’s known as the Grand Canyon in China.

Welcome to Kunming, the Spring City of China! Upon arrival at the Kunming airport/train station, the local tour guide and driver will meet you in the arrival hall and escort you to your hotel. You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating province of Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming. 

Day 2 Kunming

After breakfast, drive to the Green Lake for bird watching. The Green Lake is one of the famous parks which situated in the center of Kunming City. During the winter months, red-beaked gulls from Siberia migrate to Green Lake and entertain the crowds of visitors as they circle around and snap up bread, usefully provided by a herd of local vendors, thrown up into the air by tourists. 

After lunch, transfer to Dianchi Lake Dam for bird(seagull) watching. Dianchi Lake Dam, on the eastern shore of the Dianchi Lake, the dam is one of the popular sites in Kunming’s Dianchi Lake Holiday Resort 8 km from downtown. During the Chinese New Year Festival, herds of locals and tourists will gather here to feed seagulls and admire scenery of the West Hill.
