Day 1 Kunming Arrival

You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating province of Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming. Upon arrival at the Kunming International Airport, meet your local guide and transfer to the hotel. You will take a leisurely stroll along the Green Lake, a charming area of teahouses and small boutiques selling handicrafts and beautiful local paintings. If time permits, you will have a Kunming city tour.

Day 2 Kunming-Dongchuan

After breakfast in hotel, drive to Dongchuan Red Land(150 km 4 hours on national highway), will arrive at Dongchuan Red Land in the afternoon, after a short rest, then go to take photos at Damakan hill, JingxiuYuan hill and so on, there are about 6 to 7 spots around. Damakan, a viewpoint some 9km away from 109 along a bumpy dirt-track, is one of the photographers’ favourites. Just when the light is coming out, the small village several hundred meters below is getting busy and smoke starts rising from the farm-houses smokestacks. As the farmers are starting their working day, the photographers’ morning shift is almost over. After lunch, it is time for another shoot as the light turns warmer and brings out the best in Dongchuan’s colours. All over the hills the photographers wander in search of an undiscovered view. But at sunset, everybody gathers at 110, another nameless spot along the road. Among all the shooting spots, Luoxia Gou is the ultimate shot. The sunset at Red Soil is spectacular. stay over night at guesthouse (best available).

Day 3 Dongchuan-Kunming

Early in the morning, enjoy the Sunrise of Damakan. A large spread of red fields are in the arms of continuous mountains at the skyline. Due to its local topographical advantage, Damakan is the best site to see a sunrise. In order to get a favorable position for perfect pictures, travelers should get up at 5:00. Leave the hotel at 5:30 and arrive at Damakan within 30 minutes. Continue to visit Seven-Color Slope’ (Qicaipo). The ‘Embroidery Garden’, ‘Seven-Color Slope’ gets its name from seven fields with seven different colors (when the right crops are planted and growing). However, usually travelers are not lucky enough to see the seven colors, so we don’t suggest visiting it. Later move to visit Jinxiuyuan which has a vast expanse of many rolling hills with red fields. A great location for shots of the colorful fields, a traditional village and some trees also offer a vivid countryside picture. After lunch, drive back your hotel in Kunming hotel(3.5hrs ). Check in your hotel after arrival.

Day 4 Kunming-Stone Forest- Luoping

Morning transfer to visit the Stone Forest in Shilin County, which is about 120 kilometers from Kunming and requires only a three-hour drive. It covers an area of 400 square kilometers (96,000 acres) and includes both large and small stone forests, as well as many other scenic spots. The Stone Forest has unique karst topography which is one of the best of its kind within China. There are six scenic spots in the Stone Forest: the Greater Stone Forest, the Lesser Stone Forest, the Naigu Stone Forest, the Zhiyun Cave, the Long Lake, the Da Dieshui Waterfall and the Qifeng Cave. Afterward, you will drive to Luoping (2hrs ).Visit the Sea of Rapeseed Flowers. During the rapeseed flower Luoping’s stunning karst scenery is at its best: and the tourism office lays on a few shows to attract even more tourists. The dense cluster of karst around Luoping is stunning at any time of the year. But when the flower of the rapeseed turns the fields into a sea of yellow, thousands of photographers come for the view. And to provide a bit more entertainment, Luoping’s tourism authorities lay on extra shows, many staged by the counties minorities, the Buyi and the Miao.

Day 5 Luoping

Get up early in the morning, enjoy the nice view of vast rape fields got from the top of Jinji Mountain, in the February of every year, when rapes bloom, what will be showed before eyes is the biggest garden in the world and a sea of yellow flowers measuring over 130 square kilometers, this gorgeous view made Luoping, a remote small town on the border of Yunnan the most popular destination in every spring.

Move to Niujie for different type of nice rape fields’ view, where the farmland was cultivated interesting spiral shapes and with many terraces. NiuJie is a few kilometers to the north of Luoping town. The farms here are of smaller scale. They are carved out of a shallow valley with gentle slopes. These farms do not look any different or attractive as one passes them by on ground level. However as soon as one gets higher up, following the road, the scenery changes. The flowers are grown in circular rings following the contours of the slopes. As a result, from higher ground, these farms looks like the rings of a snail’s shell, akin to rice terraces in corkscrew patterns. It is rather amazing when one considers that the farms were created by the farmers as a response to the natural limitations of the land. Yet they are like a work of art, with an artist exquisitely drawing circular rings on the ground and then filling them up with splashes of shocking yellow.

In the afternoon, visit Jiulong Waterfalls, a cluster of spectacular waterfalls formed on the Jiulong River, the greatest waterfall there has a drop of 56 meters with width of 112 meters. Jiulong(Nine-dragon) Waterfalls 22 kilometers away in the northeast from county seat, in a section no longer than 4 kilometers along the Nine-dragon River, diversified landforms created 10 falls in different sizes and shapes, some grand, some graceful, some elegant and some small, this is the biggest waterfall group through whole country, as well one of the Six Most Beautiful Waterfalls in China assessed by Chinese National Geography.

Day 6 Luoping-Chengzi Village-Mile

In the morning, transfer to Chengzi Old Villages, which is located in two states (Honghe, Wenshan) three counties (Luxi, Maitreya, qiubei) Along the smell of the land, 25 km from the city of Luxi County, Luxi County Yongning Township case. The whole village is located in the 200 -meter-high slope Fei, area 55.59 ha, east dragon winding west Yuping, Beacon Hill, North Furong Mountain (aka Wood Wing Shan), posterior Jinding Hill, a small river meandering flow.

Arrive in Mile County which is well-known as the home of “Hot Spring” in Yunnan Province. Enjoy the hot spring in Huquan Spring Resort in the late afternoon.

Day 7 Mile-Yuanyang

Drive about 4 hours to Yuanyang via Kaiyun and Gejiu, with visits to villages on the way. You will drive through the area of Yi people in the mountain and Dai people in the Red River valley where they grow banana and tropical fruits. Visit Malipo Miao Ethnic Village one the way. After lunch, continue the driving to Panzhihua Town, enjoy the sunset of Laohuzui Rice Terraces there and visit some Yi and Hani ethnic villages around Panzhihua Town. The Laohuzui Rice Terraces are situated about 20 kilometers from the Yuanyang city. The best moment to enjoy the marvelous rice terraces view is during the sunset period.Literally translated from Chinese, Laohuzui means ‘the mouth of the tiger’. It seems it is possible to distinguish the form as a tiger mouth in the rice fields; while some others think it’s kind of the shape of a horse. Every sunset in Laohuzui, numerous of photographers from entire China come to disputes themselves for a one-foot space just because of the perfect position to set up their tripods. Start from every May, the Laohuzui rice fields turn into green from yellow right after the farmers did the rice seedlings at the end of spring.

Day 8 Yuanyang

Today you have a full day to visit the terraces belonging to the Hani and Yi people. These rice terraces – carved out of the mountainsides by generations of Hani people – are said to be among the most magnificent in the world. You get up very early to see the sunrise over the terraces at Duoyi village and then visit the local Hani and Yi people. During the day you will visit different areas of the huge valley to see the amazing engineering and beautiful formations of the terraces. There are lots of rice terraces in Yuanyang, you will choose the most beautiful parts of them to visit.

Duoyishu Rice Rerrace in Yuanyang is one of the most photographed in Yunnan. The low lying cloud and the water field rice terrace is unique during winter and early spring. As the sun rises the terraces come alive with the sky’s reflection. In the winter months the fields are flooded in order to plow and plant for the new season. The rising sun creates an amazing reflection off the water in the terraces.

In the late afternoon you drive back to Xinjie Town, enjoy the sunset view of Longshuba Hani Rice Terraces and villages. Yuanyang Rice Terrace is a self sustaining ecosystem. During winter to early spring, the entire field is irrigated with spring water from the forest above to rejuvenate and getting prepared for the next season. The Hani people have repeated this for more than a thousand years. There is only one harvest in a year for the Yuanyang Rice Terrace; planting is from March to Oct./Nov. every year.

Day 9 Yuanyang-Jianshui

Sightseeing and Activities:Jianshui Swallow Cave, Jianshui Ancient Town, Zhu Family Garden and Confucius Temple

After breakfast in the hotel, drive about 3 hours to Jianshui County. On the way back, visit Jianshui Swallow Cave which is the largest karst formation cave in Asia. There are usually thousands of swallows flying around in this aptly named cave. You will follow a guide in the cave to see the striking caverns and also to see the bare hand rock climbing performance in the cave. Walk into the cave and visit the colorful Karst landform and take the small boat cruise out of the cave Arrive in Jianshui Ancient Town in the afternoon, pay a visit to Jianshui Ancient Town, Zhu Family Garden and Confucius Temple. Visit the famous Confucius Temple with its interesting history. Confucious was born in Shandong province 2,500 years ago and taught more than 3,000 students in his lifetime, among them 72 were outstanding. He is the greatest teacher in China’s history and has worldwide influence and his work has worldwide influence.

Day 10 Jianshui-Tonghai-Kunming

Drive to Tuanshan Village about 15KM away from Jianshui Ancient Town, visit the Zhang Family Garden, the ancient hourses and the Double Dragon Bridge. Visit Tunshan village with hundred year old houses built by the family of Zhang. In the village, you will see the different standards of houses built by rich and poor families, and also the family temple which plays an important role for education, family history, and Chinese culture, which says that people should always remember their ancestors and maintain community traditions After lunch, drive back to Kunming. On the way, visit Xingmeng Mongolia Village in Tonghai County of Yuxi City.

At 09:00 am, meet your tour guide & driver at Jinma Biji Archway and then transfer to the Stone Forest. An old local saying says that ‘If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest, you have wasted your time.’ Truly, the Stone Forest is one of the most important attractions of Yunnan.

In the afternoon, drive back to Kunming and visit Birds and Flowers Market. Then stroll around the Green Lake, and enjoy local dancing and music.

Day 3 Kunming-Dali

In the afternoon, take a cruise to Jinsuo Islet in Erhai Lake. There are 200 Bai ethnic families around 1000 people in Jinsuo Island.In Erhai Lake cruise, you will enjoy the green Cangshan Mountain and the Three Pagodas from a far as well as lots of birds and seagulls flying over the lake. Then continue the tour to Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Monastery which has a history of over 1,800 years located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain facing to the Erhai Lake. Three Pagodas are made of three ancient independent pagodas forming a symmetrical triangle.Drive back to your hotel.

Day 4 Dali – Lijiang

This morning, walk to visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is a part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997. Then, drive to Yuhu Village which is located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. When walking into this authentic Naxi Village, you’ll see unique stone houses, Naxi ladies dressing in traditional clothes, kids playing, a tranquil Yuhu Lake…Explore leisurely around the village and then get to the Former Residence of Joseph Rock, who was an Austrian-American Botanist came to Lijiang and stayed in Yuhu Village for 27 years and made huge research work on Naxi minority.

In the afternoon, take a leisure walk up the Lion Hill and climb up the 33-meter-tall Wanggu Tower – the landmark building of Lijiang to enjoy a panoramic view of the whole old town and countryside scenery, as well as overlook the magnificent Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the distance. Later, follow a trip to Ming-dynasty style Mufu Palace, the “Forbidden City” of Lijiang to know Tusi’s ruling history and appreciate Naxi people’s brilliant culture and fine arts.

Day 6 Lijiang – Tiger Leaping Gorge – Shangri-La

After breakfast, drive to Shangri-La city. On the way, have a view of the First Bend of the Yangtze River from afar and continue to visit Tiger Leaping Gorge which is the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river.

In the afternoon, drive about 2 hours to Shangri-La and check in hotel. Later, stroll around Dukezong Ancient Town and walk up to the top of Guishan Hill to see the Grand Prayer Wheel and have a panoramic view of Shangri-La city and Dukezong Ancient Town.

Day 7 Shangri-La

In the morning, visit Songzanlin Monastery , the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Pay a visit to a local Tibetan family and have a simple Tibetan lunch for free.

Day 8 Shangri-La – Lhasa

As the political, economic, cultural and transport center of the region, it has a history of more than 1,300 years and an area of 30,000 square km with a population of 400,000. In the morning, go to visit the famous Potala Palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during Songtsen Gonpo’s reign by princess Wencheng of Tang Dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkor Kora.

Day 10 Lhasa

Drepung Monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10000 monks and Ganden Podrang in Drepung and is famous because it was the government center during fifth Dalai Lama which later moved to the famous Potala Palace. By the time you can also visit the Nechung Monastery located 1 km southeast of Drepung and is the abode of the protector deity pehar and the seat of the state Oracle of Tibet.

In the afternoon exploring the Sera Monastery which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa’s disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is that Monks debiting is held there in the courtyard at around 6-7:30 in the afternoon section. Overnight at Lhasa (Notice: the sequence of sightseeing of first two days may be adjusted according to the reservation of visiting Potala Palace).

Day 11 Lhasa-Gyangtse-Shigatse

The Horse Racing Festival of Tibetan Minority in Shangrila, Diqing

Passing by the green farmland of Nyangchu Valley, Yamdro-tso lakes, karo-la glacier roadside at 4960m. We move westwards to the second biggest city Shigatse, the Area spiritually hosted by Pamchan Lama.

The most important attraction for today is Yamdro-tso Lake and Kubum monastery in Gyantse. From the top of the pass kangpa-la at 4700m high in clear weather, you can see the fabulous shade of deep turquoise, Yamdro-tso Lake is shaped like coiling scorpion with deep blue in color.

Kubum monastery, meaning 100,000 images in Tibetan, is the town’s foremost attraction. The 35m-high chorten (stupa) with its white layers trimmed with decorative stripes and its crown-like golden dome, is awe-inspiring. You can visit every chambers in the monastery.

Day 12 Shigatse – Rongphu Monastery

Drive westwards the Friendship way to Tingri. On the way you will pass the checking point with your TTB permit, travel permit and passport, and purchase the entrance of Everest Base Camp.

There is about 90km bumpy road from Tingri to Rongpuk. From Tingri to E.B.C with the very rough road, pass the wild grassland, cross the rapids river and high mountains. If it is in clear whether, you can have a glimpse of 4 mountains which is 8000m high or more, such as: Mt. Lhotse(8516m),Mt. Everes(8848m), Mt. Qowowuyag(8201m),Mt Mayalu(8463m). Overnight at Rongphu Monastery Tent.

Day 13 Rongphu Monastery – Shigatse

Early in the morning to see the sunrise from Rongphu then to view Mt. Everest. It is fabulous and splendid. After walking half of an hour arrive at Everest Base camp ( Or you also can trekking to Base Camp around 1.5-2 hours one way. It’s interesting and much more warm, but hard to breath).

Hiking up to the top of the photo point to take pictures of the splendid-Mt. Everest. Then late in the afternoon around 13:00 go down from E.B.C back to Tingri by friend-ship highway back to Shigaste.

Bing-Cha-Cha Road between Yunnan and Tibet

We spend about 4 hours to drive back to Lhasa from Shigatse. On the way, we will visit the largest Monastery in west Tibet, the Tashilunpo monastery, as the last but famous historic sites for your Tibet tour. Tashilunpo monastery is one of the the six great Gelukpa institutions and was founded in 1447 by a disciple of Tsongkapa, Genden drup who was first dalai lama. Jamkhang Chenmo, containing the world’s largest gilded copper image(26m high) of future god Jampa. Drive along the Friend-ship Highway back to Lhasa.

Lijiang, with an elevation of 2400 meters, is cool in summer and warm in winter. It is very nice to pay golf all the year around. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club is located at the foot of Yulong Mountain with the elevation of 3100 meters as the highest golf club in Asia. Lijiang Ancient Town Lakefront Golf Club is located at the bank of Wenbi Lake, 10KM away from Lijiang Ancient Town, with Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in front, which is a nice golf to play for you.

Take the flight to Lijiang and meet your local tour guide and driver in the airport. You will be free in Lijiang Old Town. Lijiang Old Town has a history more than 800 years; it was listed as the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997. Here you will see the wonderful wooden architecture of Naxi ethnic people.

In the morning you’ll visit Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui(White Water) River; take the chairlift to visit the Spruce Meadow of the Yulong Snow Mountain, which stretches a length of 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a width of 20 kilometers (13 miles). Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers (nine miles) away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence, the name Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

After the Spruce Meadow, you will play the golf at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club, which is well-known as the highest golf course in Asia. Situated in Ganhaizi at the eastern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, this golf course was open to the public in October 2001.

You will attend the Naxi Orchestral and Show in Dongba Palace at night.

Day 3 Lijiang

In the morning you will head for the scenic Black Dragon Pool and the Dongba Museum to explore the rich Naxi minority culture. Black Dragon Pool is the main headwater of the Yushui River which goes through the Old Town. People believe that the gods of the Naxi people are living in the chestnut woods, beside the mouth of springs, behind the carved doors and below the bridges.

In the afternoon you will play the golf at Lijiang Ancient Town International Golf Club, which is located at the foot of Wenbishan Peak, in the front of Wenhai Lake, face to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, about 8 Km away from Lijiang Old Town. It is designed by Joe. Bringer, a famous designer from USA. The Club features an international standard par 72; 18-hole golf course with 7,661 yards of fairway. There is also a 38-tee driving range with lights for evening driving. Overnight at the Villa of Lijiang Ancient Town International Golf Club.

Day 4 Lijiang

From Lijiang, you’ll drive about 60KM to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks.

Continue the driving 40KM more to visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Afternoon, you will drive back to Lijiang.

Day 2 Baisha – Wenhai

From Lijiang, we will take a car for 20 minutes to one of the small Naxi villages at the base of the mountains. Then we will hike to Wenhai Lake.

During this hike we climb through a pass of ‘Yulung Shan’, which offers spectacular views of the Upper Lijiang Plain, including the local villages, crops, unique floral diversity, and the surrounding mountains. We will trek between 2500 m and 3100m above sea level. After we reach the summit of the pass we will descend to Wenhai Lake where we will stay for the night at the Ecolodge.

We can either have a full lunch when we arrive at Wenhai, or a simple lunch on the trail. After arriving in Wenhai we will have free time to explore the village and take in the magnificent views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

Around 19 o’ clock we will have a local dinner prepared by a Naxi family. All of the food is grown locally and although the meal is simple, the ingredients are fresh and the dishes are tasteful. For example, rice with three or four different kinds of vegetables is a common meal.

Day 3 Wenhai – Xuehua – Shanghai Village

Enjoy the beautiful sunrise view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the early morning, hike around one hour along the slopes to Xuehua, a much poorer Yi village and a chance to relax for the afternoon and check out a little local life. Interestingly Xuehua is also the home of one of the few ‘bimo’ of the area, an Yi shaman-like figure steeped in a ritualistic history infinitely longer and more complex than its newcomer counterpart amongst the Naxi – the‘Dongba priest’. Whether or not you’ll get the chance to meet him is moot, but it does give some indication as to the depth of tradition in this village.

Trek to Changsongping Village and Xinshang Village, visit some small rivers. Arrive in Shanghai Village in the late afternoon and stay in local family. Shanghai is a relatively affluent Naxi village and the last stop before heading east away from Jade Dragon. By now those muscles should be flowing!

Day 4 Shanghai Village – Qiaotou – Halfway Guesthouse

After breakfast, trek 1.5 hours down to Longpang Village with a panoramic view of the Jinsha River, the upper reach of Yangtze River in Lijiang.

Drive from Longpan Village to Qiaotou Town, then start the Tiger Leaping Gorge trekking tour from Qiaotou, after 2 hours trekking, arrive at Naxi Family Gesthouse for lunch.

After lunch, a trekking from Naxi Family to 28 zigzagging turns will be a challenge for you. From the top of “28 turns” on the high path further uphill to a place of altitude above 3000m, you can have a view of the panorama of the entire Gorge. The go pass Tea Horse Guest House (5 hours) and arrive at Halfway Guesthouse (2500m) to finish today’s trekking.

Day 5 Halfway Guesthouse-Middle Gorge-Daju

In the early morning, continue hiking to Tina’s Guesthouse(here is the middle section of Tiger Leaping Gorge). Then you will go on walk to Walnut Grove Garden. Day 6 Daju-Lijiang

Travel Tips:

Take some lightweight clothes with you and wear comfortable walking shoes for tired trekking and overnight stayingat Tiger Leaping Gorge. If possible, knee pads are necessary to avoid any bump.
If trekking in winter or rainy season, the windbreaker, gloves, antiskid shoes and waterproof coat will be needed in case of temperature drop and get wet in the rain.
If you are easy to behungry and tired during the trekking, bring some high caloric snacks with you, such as chocolate and beef jerky. If not, you can buy food at local guesthouses along the route. Our tour guide will provide you two bottles of water for each person every day. But we suggest you to bring more by yourself.
For the strong ultraviolet ray there, we suggest you to wear sun bonnet or take sunsceern with you.
Do not trek too fast, because the Tiger Leaping Gorge is located at high altitude area, or altitude sickness may happen to you.

The key highlight of this itinerary is to climb Haba Snow Mountain. Standing at 5396m, Haba is just above the snow-line and is covered with snow all the year round. This trip allows you to experience the typical process of climbing a snow mountain. It is not a hard climbing route. The most difficult is to overcome the high altitude sickness. Day 1 Arrive in Lijiang (2400m)

You’ll begin our journey to Lijiang, which is the travel highlight of Yunnan. Your local guide will meet you in Lijiang airport or train station. And then transfer you to our hotel.

Day 2 Lijiang

Drive about 30KM to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You will reach Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M) firstly. Then take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishui River. Take the chairlift up to Spruce Meadow(3200M). Hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Spruce Meadow.

In the afternoon, you’ll stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan village. Visit the Baisha Murals about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.

Day 3 Lijiang (2400m) – Qiaotou (1800m) – Halfway Guesthouse (2500m)

At 6:00, drive to Qiaotou Town, which takes 2 hours on the trip. Your hiking trip starts from the Qiaotou Primary School, trek two hours to Naxi Family and you will have lunch there.

The 28 zigzagging turns will be a real test. From the top of “28 turns” on the high path further uphill to a place of altitude above 3000m, you can have a view of the panorama of the entire Gorge. The go pass Tea Horse Guest House (5 hours) and arrive at Halfway Guesthouse (2500m) to finish today’s trekking. The total trekking route is 26 km, and it takes about 6-8 hours. Overnight at Halfway Guesthouse.

Day 4 Halfway Guesthouse (2500m) -Tina’s House-Middle Rapids (1800m)-Haba Village

In the early morning, continue hiking to Tina’s Guesthouse (2 hours). After another hour walking down the steep cliff to the bank of Jinsha River to the Middle Gorge (Middle Hutiao or Middle Rapids), worship the dangerous shoal of “Starriness”, which is the most narrow part of the gorge, where a tiger can easily jump over the Jinsha River.

From Half way Guesthouse to Middle Hutiao or Rapids will take between 3 to 4 hours. Then climb up the gorge to Walnut Grove (Woody’s Guesthouse) using either the Tianti or Yixiantian route. Depending on how tired, choose the one to suit on the day. So from Middle Hutiao to Walnut Grove will take 2 or 3 hours and hence the total for the day from Halfway Guesthouse to Walnut Grove will be about 5 to 6 hours.

When you trek to Walnut Grove Garden, you will take the car to Haba Village, after dinner, prepare for Haba Snow Mountain climbing. Overnight at Haba Mountain Guesthouse.

Day 5 Haba Village (2600m)-the Base Camp at the 4200

From Haba village, we need horses to take our bags and all the camping equipments up to the mountain. We just carry a small bag with some food and drinks, and it takes about five hours and half to hike up to the Lake, through villages, meadows, forests and small rivers. Heihai Lake with an elevation of 4170m, is in front of the Haba Mountain, and you can see the reflection of the Haba in water just from the camping site.

There are some small lakes, grasslands and mountain passes in the area near the Lake, so we spend the day here to walk around the lakes and climb up to the mountain passes to get acclimatized to the altitude here. There are different kinds of the flowers and plants which grow in the area, esp. azalea, and you will see the different sceneries in different seasons.

Day 6 Base Camp-the Summit-Base Camp

Get up at 3:00 am, prepare for your equipment and have a simple breakfast. Examine your health condition before leaving for the top at 4:00 AM. You will leave most of your luggage at the Camp 1, just need to take your mountaineering tools, such as the rope, ice axe, ice pick, the bag, some solid food, a warm pot of water, clothe, headlight, climbing equipment for the climbing to the summit of Haba Mountain.

–Camp 1 is located just before the 2nd grey slab at about 4800 m. Usually people did not stay there but from what you could observe it seems quite unconfortable due to the very rocky and uneven surface. A small pond nearby provides water.

You will try to climb about 4 km to the top of the Haba Snow Mountain at the 5396m, which will take about 5 hours. It is the ice and snow trail from the camp 1 to the summit, the altitude up 500M. Usually, it will take you about 3 hours to the top. Enjoy the wonderful scenery of Haba Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with Yangtze River in the middle, take the pictures as souvenir. Here will be an unforgettable station of your life.

After having a picnic lunch, you will trek down to Camp 1 to take your luggage, then continue trek down to the Base Camp. Our service clerk at the BC will prepare good meals and waiting for you. Overnight at the Base Camp at 4200M.

Day 7 Base Camp at the 4200 m-Haba Village-Baishuitai-Shangri-La (3300m)

Trek down from Base Camp to the Long Wang Bian Village, with yaks taking your luggage, after lunch, drive to Shangri-La, you will visit Baishuitai (White Water Terrace).

Day 8 Shangri-La

In the morning, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, so named because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere.

And afterwards you’ll visit the tranquil Shudu Lake in Pudacuo National Park which is located in one of the most biologically-diverse regions of the world. While the region comprises only 0.7 percent of China’s land area, it contains more than 20 percent of the country’s plant species, about one-third of its mammal and bird species and almost 100 endangered species.

Visit Dukezong Tibetan Ancient Town in the late afternoon, climb up to the top of Guishan Hill or tortoise Hill, you will see the largest Prayer Wheel of the world and have a panoramic view of shangrila county and Dukezong Ancient Town. Finally, you will have an option to visit a Tibetan’s family to experience the local life in the bonfire party with Tibetan dance and music and you will try Tibetan home-made yak and cheese.

Pu’er Tea is a kind of dark tea found only in China’s Yunnan Province. It’s originally produced in the “Six Famous Mountains” in Xishuangbanna and gets its name from Pu’er, a town where most of the tea is processed and sold. Pu’er Tea has a long history. Early in the Tang Dynasty, tea trade between Pu’er and other areas already began.

Day 1 Arrival Pu ‘er

Situated in the northwest of Yunnan Province, Puer has an important location in China’s southwestern boundary, neighboring Laos, Vietnam and Burma and sharing a 486 kilometers (302 miles) boundary line with these three countries. Kunming is about 550 kilometers (342 miles).

There are many ethnic minorities living here, such as Lahu, Hani, Wa and Yi. Varied customs make it a colorful city. Eating habits, ceremonies, costumes and folk legends can all be a strong attraction for people who are visiting. In addition, the city is the hometown of the well known Puer Tea, and the local people have diversified ways of handling tea, such as bamboo tube tea, cold tea dish, earth-pot tea and baked tea; all of which you should try.

Day 2 Puer -Menglun

In the morning, visit China Puer Tea Exhibition Garden. Tea culture is an attractive tourist factor of the city. The exhibition garden is built on the Yingpan Mountain, 29 kilometers (18 miles) from the downtown area. Against the background of a vast tea garden, it is made up of Puer Tea Museum, Tea making workshop, tea-picking zone, tea appraisal garden and some other facilities which comprehensively show the history of Puer Tea, and of how to plant and produce as well.

In the afternoon, drive to Menglun for overnight.

Day 3 Menglun-Yiwu

This morning, visit Menglun Tropical Botanical Garden, which holds more than 3000 species, enjoy nice scenery in the garden and learn about some interesting plants. Walk in rainforest zone, the most natural part of garden is especially recommended, where tourists seldom go there, very quiet and original, for simple knowledge about rainforest, the most bio-diversified vegetation type in the world, which is a good place.

Drive to Yiwu Old Town, a small town once boomed due to tea trade in the history, see the old Yiwu town and the stele erected in Qing Dynasty that recorded the trade situation at that time. Pay a visit to local families that are still producing Pu’er Tea in the traditional way and visit tea mountain around.

Day 4 Yiwu-Jinghong

Today, get the chance to make your own Puer tea cakes at a small Cha Ma Shi factory in Youle, another of the 6 famous Puer tea mountains.

From this small tea factory, travel Dadugang, the owner of the largest tea plantation in Asia. Terraced fields of 30yr old tea bushes could be seen in all directions and the view was breathtaking. The Dadugang factory was filled with massive processing equipment, primarily for green though they make 107 different varieties, which had a very industrial feeling to it.

After dinner, drive to Jinghong City.

Day 5 Jinghong-Menghai-Jinghong

Drive from Jinghong to Menghai (50km), pay visit to Menghai Tea Factory. The factory is well known for its old raw pu-erh cakes and is highly reputed in the tea industry of China. Further transfer into the old Aini village near Nannuoshan, visit Aini people’s market selling pu’er tea, local vegetables, fruit and hand-made crafts. Then 20 minutes driving to the Aini village where we start to walk or start walk up from the foot of the mountain. 2 hours walking on a jungle path to see the old Pu er tea tree plantation in forest and a huge bush tea plantation. All the tea trees are between 300 and 800 years old.

At noon, drink local tea and have packed lunch at a place with nice view. If you like the tea, you can also buy some from local people for the best price and have a nice Puer tea ceremony at home of the local. The whole experience lasts 4 to 5 hours.

Day 2 Kunming – Stone Forest – Kunming

Depart from your hotel in the morning, you will take a visit to the Stone Forest (2 hours) – famous as the typical karst landform and known as the First Wonder of the World. Then drive back to the hotel in Kunming and free of the rest day.

Day 3 Kunming-Dali

In the morning, take high speed train to Dali (2 hours), the ancient political, economic and cultural center of Yunnan area. Upon arrival, your tour guide will wait for you at the airport and transfer you to start today’s tour. The first stop is Erhai Lake, ranked the second in Yunnan Province and the seventh freshwater lake in China by area and water storage. Take the Erhai Cruise (3 hours). Continue to visit Three Pagodas(1.5 hours) – the symbol of the history of Dali. After that, drive back to the your hotel and free of the rest day. Walk around in Dali Ancient Town(1 hour) – which is featured by the unique traditional Bai ethnic folk houses.

Day 4 Dali-Lijiang

Today, you will head for Xizhou Town to fully appreciate Bai-style traditional architectural courtyards, taste their fragrant Three-Course Tea and explore their distinctive culture. Visit Zhoucheng Village and the Bai people’s Tie-dying cloth workshop where you can take some special souvenir with the Bai ethnic style.

After that, drive to Lijiang(2.5hrs), take a short visit to Lijiang Ancient Town (1 – 2 hours) – walk down the cobblestone streets over 700 years and see the Naxi way of life which changed little over time. After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest day.

Day 5 Lijiang

In the morning, drive about 30KM to Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M), you will take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishuihe River, take the chairlift up to visit Yak Meadow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Yak Meadow After lunch, visit Yufeng Temple (30min) – a distinctive and conjunct architecture style of Han Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism and the local Naxi Dongba Religion. After that, go to see the Baisha Murals (30 min) in Baisha Old Town– the cradle of the Naxi culture and ancient capital of the Naxi Kingdom. After this tour, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest day.

Day 6 Lijiang -Tiger Leaping Gorge -Tea Horse Guesthouse

In the morning, our guide pick up from your hotel in Ljiang. At 8:00 am, drive to Qiaotou Town, which takes 2 hours on the trip. Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking tour is one of the most beautiful trekking tour of Yunnan Province. Your hiking trip starts from Qiaotou. About two hours trekking in the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, you will arrive at Naxi Family and have lunch there. It is easy trekking from Qiaotou to Naxi Family, but beautiful scenery.

The total trekking route is 26 km, and it takes about 5 hours.

Day 7 Tea-horse Guesthouse- Shangri-La

Day 8 Shangri-La

In the morning, move to visit the tranquil Shudu Lake in Pudacuo National Park. Pudacuo National Park is located in one of the most biologically-diverse regions of the world. While the region comprises only 0.7 percent of China’s land area, it contains more than 20 percent of the country’s plant species, about one-third of its mammal and bird species and almost 100 endangered species.

And afterwards you’ll visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan Monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, so named because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere. Have a visit of the local Tibetan family. Stroll around Dukezong Ancient Town, an important town of the Ancient Tea-horse Trade Caravan from Yunnan to Tibet and India. Walk up to the top of Guishan Hill or Tortoise Hill, you will see the largest Prayer Wheel of the world and have a panoramic view of shangri-La county and Dukezong Ancient Town.

You will drive 86 km to the Stone Forest. There is a local saying: ‘It is a waste of time not to visit the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming’, which vividly expresses the deep love of the local people toward this world wonder. The quintessential karst landscape makes every tourist lost in wonder. And then, you’ll drive around 4 hours to Jiangshui.

After arriving at Jianshui, you’ll visit the Jianshui Old Town and the Chaoyang Gateway Tower, which was built in Ming Dynasty (1389). It is also known as ‘Miniature Tian’an men’ because the out shape of it is similar to Tian’anmen Square in Beijing. Visit a typical southern private garden-the Garden of Family Zhu.

Day 3 Jianshui-Yuanyang

In the morning, visit the Confucius Temple, which has a history of 700 years. It is the second largest Confucius Temple in China. Then you’ll visit Tuanshan Village and the Garden of Family Zhang. Tuanshan Village is a rare surviving example of an intact-albeit neglected-traditional walled Yunnan village compound in southwestern China, and has been added to the 2005 list of internationally significant sites by the World Memorial Fund for Architecture (WMF), an international fund for the protection of world heritage sites.

In the afternoon, you will transfer to Yuanyang and enjoy the sight of terraced fields of Laohuzui (Tiger Mouth) at sunset.

Day 4 Yuanyang

Get up very early in the morning, you’ll drive to visit Duoyishu Village and enjoy the sunrise of Duoyishu Rice Terrace Fields when the sun appears above the eastern horizon. The terraced fields are ring upon ring and cascade one by one. They go along the hillside up to the sky. You will see the scenery of the terraced fields from the top of the mountains to the bottom. They are all farms under the sunshine and cloud and mist. The landscape is spectacular. And then, you will visit Qingkou Village and rice terraces where Hani people for generations inhabit. Visit Bada Hani Rice Terrace, Shengcun Market as well. You will enjoy the sunset of Longshuba Rice Terraces in the late afternoon about 5KM away from Xinjie Town.

Day 5 Yuanyang-Kunming

Day 6 Kunming – Dali

In the morning, take the high speed train to Dali. As a historically and culturally famous city of China, it is renowned for her historical interest and Bai ethnic culture. After landing, you will visit the Three Pagodas in Chongshen Monastery which has a history of over 1,800 years located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain facing to the Erhai Lake. Three Pagodas are made of three ancient independent pagodas forming a symmetrical triangle.

After lunch, you’ll cruise in Erhai Lake by the small boat to the Jinsuo Islet in the east Erhai Lake. There are 200 Bai ethnic families around 1000 people in Jinsuo Island. In Erhai Lake cruise, you will enjoy the green Cangshan Mountain and the Three Pagodas from a far as well as lots of birds and seagulls flying over the lake. At last, you will visit the Ancient Dali Town, walk around the Foreigner Street and enjoy the relax time with local people. After climbing up to the City Wall of Dali, you will have a panoramic view of the Erhai Lake.

Day 7 Dali -Lijiang

Drive about 180KM to Lijiang with the beautiful farmlands and ethnic villages on the way. Lunch at NO.8 Restaurant at the bank of Black Dragon Pool, after lunch you’ll head for the scenic Black Dragon Pool and the Dongba Museum to explore the rich Naxi minority culture.

In the late afternoon, explore Lijiang Old Town. Lijiang Old Town has a history more than 800 years; it was listed as the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997. Here you will see the wonderful wooden architecture of Naxi ethnic people.

Day 8 Lijiang

The cableway will be arranged according to the condition of the mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Spruce Meadow (3200M).

After lunch, you will have an option to enjoy the Impression Lijang Ethnic Show (Tickets:190 Yuan not included) directed in Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M). A cultural show demonstrating the traditions and lifestyles of the Naxi, Yi and Bai peoples of the area. The show takes place inside Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Park at 3500m in an outdoor theater specifically designed to showcase the mountain which is used as a backdrop. The production itself was designed by Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue and Wang Chaoge, a cast of over 500 people, and a number of horses. In the afternoon, you’ll stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan town. Visit the Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.

Day 9 Lijiang- Shangri-La

From Lijiang, you’ll drive about 60KM to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, visit the Iron Chain Bridge, the Red Army’s Long March Memorial Monument in the Shigu town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks.

Visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Afternoon, you’ll head for Shangri La, the former Zhongdian which is well-known as the paradise destination for every tourist. Upon arrival in Shangri La, you will have entered the Tibetan cultural area and a landscape of barley fields and yaks scattered in the valleys.

Day 1 Kunming Arrival

In the morning, drive to Jianshui County, pay a visit to Jianshui Ancient Town and Zhu Family Garden. Jianshui Ancient Town was built in the Tang Dynasty with a history of over 1200 years. It is located 220km south of Kunming is famous for housing over 50 immaculately preserved buildings with a mix of Han and local ethnic styles, thus reputed as the ‘Ancient Building Museum’ and ‘Folk Residence Museum’.

After lunch, drive to Oness Resort Yuanyang Terraces where you will take a bus to visit the Laohuzui Rice Terraces at the views of sunset. Then, drive back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3 Yuanyang-Yuanjiang-Puer

In the morning, drive to visit Bada Rice Terraces Scenic Area. Day 4 Puer-Xishuangbanna

In the morning, drive to visit the China Puer Tea Exhibition Garden which is located at the Yingpan Mountain（营盘山）, 29km from Simao District(思茅区), Puer City(普洱市) and near Puer National Park, the China Puer Tea Exhibition Garden is an ideal place for growing Puer Tea because of the pleasant climate and great environment.It was built with the ecological tea garden as the construction background, surrounded by all the green hills. It is a bright pearl in the tea sea with its unique and breathtaking scenery. You can fully appreciate the Chinese tea culture there and try to make some tea by yourselves.

Then, drive to Jinghong for lunch. After lunch, drive to visit Dai Minority Garden(傣族园). Dai Minority Garden is in Ganlanba, which is located in the lower reaches of Lancang River, 40 kilometers from Jinghong City. In Dai language, it is called Menghan. There are hundreds of Dai households living in Ganlanba. Ganlanba is only 530 meters above sea level, being the lowest and hottest place in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. A local saying goes that ”if Xishuangbanna is a beautiful green peacock, Ganlanba is its tail and Dai Park is the most eye-catching feather of Ganlanba”.

Afterwards, drive to hotel for check in and rest.

Day 5 Xishuangbanna Departure

Day 1 Kunming Arrival

Welcome to Kunming, the Spring City of China! Upon arrival at the Kunming airport/train station, the local tour guide and driver will meet you in the arrival hall and escort you to your hotel. You’ll begin your journey to the diverse and captivating province of Yunnan from the capital city, Kunming.

Day 2 Kunming

In the morning, you will transfer 1.5 hrs to Stone Forest, after arrival, you will have a tour of Stone Forest which is famous as the typical karst landform and known as the First Wonder of the World. There is an old saying – If you visit Yunnan without seeing the Stone Forest, it is really a shame.

After the lunch, you will drive back to Kunming city, drop off at shopping area –Nanping Street. You will stroll around this area, pay a visit to the Flowers and Birds Market and then drive back to the hotel for rest.

Day 3 Kunming-Dali

After breakfast, take the high speed trian to Dali. After your arrival at Dali Railway Station, meet your local tour guide and then star your tour from the Three Pagodas in Chongshen Monastery which has a history of over 1,800 years located at the foot of Cangshan Mountain facing to the Erhai Lake. Three Pagodas are made of three ancient independent pagodas forming a symmetrical triangle.

Afternoon, you’ll cruise in Erhai Lake by the small boat. There are 200 Bai ethnic families around 1000 people in Jinsuo Island. During Erhai Lake cruise, you will enjoy the green Cangshan Mountain and the Three Pagodas from a far as well as lots of birds and seagulls flying over the lake.

At last, you will visit the Dali Ancient Town, walk around the Foreigner Street and enjoy the relax time with local people.

Day 4 Dali-Lijiang

Morning have a tour of Xizhou morning market, afterward drive 2.5hrs to Lijiang. After meeting with your guide from Lijiang, have the tour of Black Dragon Pond (Located at the foot of the Xiangshan Mountain (Elephant Hill) north of the city of Lijiang. As the water here is a lucid green color, it gained another name Jade Spring Park (Yuquan Park). There are many distinctive and ravishing sites in the park. Hiding in the lush trees or standing along the liquid pool is the antique and exquisite architectural pieces, which are in the style of Naxi.) and Dongba Culture Museum. Day 5 Lijiang

In the morning, drive about 30 KM to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You will take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishuihe River, take the chairlift up to visit Yak Meadow (3700m) of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Yak Meadow (3700M).

After lunch, you will enjoy the Impression Lijang Ethnic Show (regular seat) directed in Ganhaizi Meadow(3100M). A cultural show demonstrating the traditions and lifestyles of the Naxi, Yi and Bai peoples of the area. The show takes place inside Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Park at 3500m in an outdoor theater specifically designed to showcase the mountain which is used as a backdrop. The production itself was designed by Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue and Wang Chaoge, with a cast of over 500 people and a number of horses.

In the afternoon, you’ll stroll through Baisha Old Town, which is an enchanting traditional Yunnan town. Visit Baisha Mural about 600 years old, which is one part of the World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO 1997.

From Lijiang, you’ll drive about 60KM to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery, and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large, cylindrical, marble tablet shaped like a drum. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks.

Visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Afternoon, you’ll head for Shangri La, the former Zhongdian which is well-known as the paradise destination for every tourist.

Upon arrival in Shangri La, you will have entered the Tibetan cultural area and a landscape of barley fields and yaks scattered in the valleys. Walk around Dukezong Ancient Town, an important town of the Ancient Tea-horse Trade Caravan from Yunnan to Tibet and India.

Day 4 Shangri-La

Day 5 Shangri- Benzhilan-Feilaisi

In the morning, drive 4 to 5 hours to Deqin County (3400m altitude) which is 187km away from Zhongdian through Baimang Snow Mountain Nature Reserve, you will be able to view Baimang Snow Mountain if the weather is clear, pass the top part of today at 4292m altitude.

After traversing mountain ranges, you will make a short stop and have lunch at Benzilan town, take some shots on the first bend of Jinsha(Yangtze) River, Dongzhulin monastery and Baima (white horse) Snow Mountain. The view along the way is fantastic with different kinds of trees, streams down the valley, prayer flags and stupas, and Tibetan villages.

Stay overnight at Feilaisi.

Day 6 Feilaisi-Meili Snow Mountain-Cizhong

Early in the morning, you will enjoy the magnificent sunrise view of Meili Snow Mountain from Feilaisi, then drive to Mingyong Village. Hike from Mingyong village to Mingyong Glacier (2600m) which is the low altitude glacier of the lowest latitude in the world.

After lunch in Mingyong Village, you will trek down directly to the edge of Meikong River(2,050m/6,724ft). Walk along the Mekong Grand Canyon and arrive in Xidang Village(2,200m/7,216ft) where you can visit some scattered Tibetan houses in the village. Drive to along the Lancang-Mekong River to Cizhong Village in Yanmen Town, with some Tibatan villages en route, here you can see the different hoses from Shangri-la. Visit the Tibetan Catholic Church built by French missionaries in 1867, the church is used by Tibetan, Naxi and Lisu people. They still have the grapes planted by missionaries and old the traditional way of making wine.

Day 7 Cizhong-Weixi-Tacheng

Sightseeing and Activities:Naxi and Lisu villages, Tacheng Yunnan Snub-nosed Monkey Park

Drive further south along the Mekong gorge to Weideng Township, you will drive through these Lisu and Naxi ethnic towns with Badi Town, Yezhi Town, Baohe Town in Weixi Lisu Autonomous County of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and finally arrive in Tacheng Town for one night stay. All of these towns are located at the bank of Lancang River with a wonderful view on the driving.

Enjoy the landscape of the Mekong with mountains, terraces, villages on the both sides of the valley, and we will make stops to visit Naxi and Lisu villages and a church en route, people here live in the traditional houses built with wooden walls and tile roofs. As the road construction work is going on here, we may need to wait sometimes.

Arrive in Tacheng Town in the late afternoon and pay a visit to Tacheng Black Snub-Nosed Monkey National Park of Weixi County. Overnight at the guesthouse in Tacheng Town.

Day 8 Tacheng-Liming-Shigu-Lijiang

In the morning, you will drive along the Yangtze River to Shigu Ancient Town. Visit the Stone Drum, the Iron Chain Bridge which is the relic of the Ancient Tea-horse Road from Yunnan to Tibet and India. On the mountain at the river’s bend stands Stone Drum (Shigu) Town. This ancient town is named after a drum-shaped marble plaque. Built during the Jiaqing era (1548-1561) of the Ming Dynasty, the stone drum is a monument commemorating the victory of Lijiang’s Naxi ruler over an invading Tibetan army. It is one point five meters (five feet) in diameter and zero point five meters (two feet) in thickness. The stone drum has an obvious vestige of what appears to be a “rip” in it. It is said that the stone drum would rupture prior to any war and then fold when peace returned.

Afterward, you will meet your driver and come back to Lijiang. Visit Lijiang Ancient Town and enjoy the night life.
