You can also try pig skin eggplant (猪皮茄子), oil-seared stinky beef skin (油呛臭牛皮), heart tubes (心管), and tripe (毛肚), all of which are aromatic with robust seasonings that will whet your appetite. Lemongrass Grilled Fish (香茅草烤鱼) is one of the signature dishes, embodying the principle of “eating fish by the riverside” (靠山吃山,靠河吃鱼). In barbecue culture, the Dai’s lemongrass grilled fish offers a distinctive flavor that leaves a lasting impression, making it one of the most recognized dishes in Dai cuisine.

The Passion Fruit Stewed Fish served with rice noodles is absolutely delicious. I can visit this place twice a week just for this dish, while their skewers are generally average.

A hidden gem without a sign, located at the entrance of a construction company. Their barbecue ingredients are fresh, and simple seasoning with charcoal grilling makes the food delicious—often, the best-tasting foods are the simplest.

Opinions on this restaurant vary, but I personally love their cold rice noodles. The aroma of the spicy sauce combined with oyster sauce is an unbeatable combination. A friend is willing to fly over just for this dish!

Both restaurants are located within the Youxiang Food City, our favorite late-night BBQ spot. Both offer delicious food, and after 9 PM, the place is packed—showing that the nightlife in Xishuangbanna is among the best in the country.
When a flock of roosters showed up on the lawn of Yunnan Nationalities Village in Kunming on July 7, crowds of tourists forgot about everything else and joined the rooster catching competition. They had awaited there for quite awhile.
This is part of the celebration of Kuzhazha Festival, the most important moment of a year for the Hani minority.
The Kuzhazha Festival, also known as the “Minor New Year,” contains traditional rituals to express gratitude to Apimei, a god for the Hani people, and solicit his protection and blessing for the upcoming year.
The whole festival has a span for days.
“I finally caught one,” said Mrs. Chen, a tourist from Sichuan province, with a rooster in her arms. “How exciting the experience is!”
“Since I arrived in Kunming yesterday with my friend, we have found many interesting things, and hopefully this trip will bring us more surprises,” added she.
A variety of activities were synchronized in the village, including singing, dancing, trapeze competitions and an ethnic teeterboard game named Moqiu.
“I’ve never tried this dance before, but it is very fun to take part in it,” said a tourist from Xi’an. “I enjoy the festive atmosphere here very much.”
In the village, tourists could have a taste of local delicacies, watch ethnic shows, and even celebrate the festival together with the Hani people around bonfires at night.

Erhai Lake Park(洱海公园) is a park at the southern end of the Erhai Sea in Dali City, Yunnan Province. It is the first stop to visit the Cangshan and Erhai Scenic Area. The pavilions, terraces and buildings echo each other. It has become the largest comprehensive park with the complete facilities in Dali. The sea water temperature is around 7 °C even in the winter and summer, especially for winter swimming. Today, Erhai Park has become an important flower breeding base in western Yunnan.
Erhai Lake Park is located in the east end of Erhai Lake. It is the first station for the Cangshan and Erhai tour. In December of 1976, the Erhai Lake Park was built here.
Erhai Lake Park consists of the Haixin Pavilion, swimming pool, promenade, zoo, botanical garden, flower garden and the place for fishing. To the south of Wanghai Tower, there is a colorful garden. All kinds of Dali famous flowers like camellia, rhododendron, plum, lily, compete for beauty. On the north side of the sea promenade is 300 grades of bluestone steps that are more than 3 feet wide, like a waterfall rushing down, directly to the beach in the middle of the park.
Tuanshan Hill(团山) stands in the park. It was the hunting place for royal family in the ancient time. It was a island of Erhai Lake before. With the changing environment, it became the hill beside the lake.
