Recognized as a provincial-level inheritor of intangible cultural heritage (third batch), he is renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship in both bamboo weaving and bamboo carving, representing the pinnacle of bamboo artistry in his hometown.

    Chafang Village (茶坊村) is a mixed Han and Miao community rich in bamboo resources. Growing up in this environment, Guo began learning bamboo weaving from his father. By his teenage years, he could already craft everyday items such as bamboo baskets, sieves, winnowing trays, back baskets, stools, and mats.

    Expanding into Bamboo Carving

    Later, Guo developed a strong passion for bamboo carving. He traveled to Sichuan (四川) and other regions to study techniques and refine his skills. After years of dedication, he mastered the art of carving intricate designs onto bamboo birdcages, creating patterns that feature poems, couplets, figures, birds, flowers, insects, and animals.

    Guo primarily uses local nan bamboo (楠竹) and water bamboo (水竹). His birdcages are particularly famous, selling for over 1,000 RMB each and in high demand. They are sold not only in Yunnan but also in Guangzhou (广州), Hunan (湖南), Shanghai (上海), and even neighboring Sichuan (四川).
