Day 1：Arrive in Kunming-Lijiang

Arrive at Kunming airport. Transfer to Kunming railway station for dinner. Take overnight train to Lijiang

Day 2:Lijiang

Our driver and guide pick you up at Lijiang railway station in the morning. Then have your breakfast. Drive to Xuehua Village(about 30km and 1 hour 45 minutes driving). Today, you will visit this local Yi Minority Village. These two days, you will look for firewood , dig Chinese herbal medicine in the mountain, and dig ditches and renovate house .  

Day 3:Lijiang

Day 4: Lijiang Cycling

This morning, pick you up at this village then drive to Lashihai. Then start your cyclling from Lashihai Lake. Lashihai Lake, a nature reserve rich in biodiversity. Then surround the Lashihai Lake for further cycling. The endangered black necked crane can be seen here. The Naxi and Yi minorities live in this area. You will loop around the lake beginning on paved road which leads us through Naxi villages.

After lunch in Lashihai , go on your cycling tour to Baisha Old Town through Shuhe Old Town.

Total cyclling distance: about 40-45km, about 4-5 hours.

Day 5: Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking

Get up in the early morning, drive to visit and trek around upper Tiger Leaping Gorge( Altitude: about 1,900 m), the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river.

Then drive to the foot of Bendiwan. You will trek from Bendiwan to Half-way Guesthouse( Altitude: about 2,400 m),. Then trelk to Tina’s Guesthouse( Altitude: about 2,080 m) passing a small but high waterfall on the way. The trekking is about 2-3 hours.

In the late afternoon, transfer back to Lijiang.

Day 6:Lijiang-Jianchuan-Lijiang

Get up in the early morning, drive to Shaxi(2 hours’ driving). Visit the Shibaoshan Mountain(about 3 hours sightseeing). The most prominent sight at ShibaoShan is the Stone Bell Temple with its 139, well preserved stone carvings. These magnificent stone carvings date as far back as 1300 years to the once powerful Nanzhao Kingdom during the Tang Dynasty (618-907).Explore the ancient temple complex including Baoxiang Temple, Haiyun Temple, Shizhong Temple and the Ancient Grottoes. If you are lucky enough, you also can see a lot of wild monkey group around Baoxiang Temple.

After lunch, drive back to Lijiang(you will arrive in Lijiang at about 4:00 pm). Learn to make embroidery( 1 hour) from local master in Baisha Old Town. Tonight, you will experience a Bonfire Party with Naxi Minority People. You can join their dancing group and enjoy an unforgetable night.

Day 7: Departure from Lijiang

Pick you up at your hotel in Lijiang. Drive to visit Baisha Old Town.  It got its name “Baisha” meaning “white sand” from the natural white sand in the area. It was the cradle-land of the Tusi Dynasty evolved from the Mu Clan. It was also the earliest settlement of the Naxi people. Then visit Baisha Murals. The valuable murals are protected inside Dabaoji Palace and the colored glaze temples. The originality and figures within the murals reflect the different religious cultures and artistic forms of Buddhism, Lamaism, Taoism and local Naxi Dongba religion’s development into Naxi School.

After lunch, pay a visit to Doctor He’s Herbal Clinic. Doctor He has passed away. But his son He Wenshu is still doing what his father did. You will see how the doctors of traditional Chinese medicine work, and how they diagnose.

Day 2 Kunming-Jianshui

In the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel in Kunming and start our tour at Chengzi Village, some 175 km east of Kunming. This ancient village is a beautifully arranged aggregation of old and original Tuzhang buildings of the Yi people. It’s a great spot for taking pictures. Stroll through the village and get a good impression and view about the life of local people.

After that,  drive to Jianshui. We visit Tuanshan Village on the way and reach our hotel in the evening. We take a good rest before exploring the area the day after.

Day 3 Jianshui-Yuanyang

Today, we will visit Jianshui Ancient Town and attend a local tofu workshop as tofu is one of the most important food of the area. Afterwards we have a look at Zhu’s Family Garden and Chaoyang Archway, two very famous sights of the city. In Jianshui Ancient Town, the different standards of houses built by rich and poor families are well visible. Also, the Family Temple which plays an important role for education, family history, and Chinese culture is visited today. Then, pay a visit to Shuanglong Bridge.

After that, drive south to Yuanyang (about 3 hours).

Day 4 Yuanyang

Today we have a whole day in Yuanyang. We get up very early to witness the sunrise over the famous terraces at Duoyi Village. We have a look at Bada and Qingkou Village and of course the rice terraces themselves, which belong to the Hani and Yi people. The terraces were taken into the UNESCO’s world heritage list in 2013. We will enjoy the sunset at Laohuzui before we head back to our comfortable hotel.

Day 5 Yuanyang-Jinping

Today we drive to Jinping (about 3-4 hours’ drive) and stop over at various villages on the road. Jinping Autonomous County of the Miao, Yi and Dai is a remote and colorful area which already borders Vietnam. The mountainious region is special due to its distinctive mix of ethnic minority cultures. Upon arrival we enjoy a free and easy evening which can be used for walks through town or just a relaxing time at the hotel.

Day 6 Jinping-Mengla

Today we have a look at the special local market of Jinping, to which the Hani, Miao, Dai and Yao of the region gather every Sunday to buy and sell all sorts of food and necessities. With their mostly colorful clothes and special accessories it is a pleasure to watch the people on the market. After lunch in the afternoon, we will head to Mengla Township (about 1.5 hours), where we visit the hot springs of Mengla to relax a bit in the nature pools. Due to the remote area we stay at a simple but clean guesthouse tonight.

Day 7 Mengla-Laomeng

This morning, We have a look around Mengla local market, it is a bit smaller than in Jinping but not less interesting and colorful. After lunch we head east again and pass by steep mountains, large valleys and little remote villages surrounded by banana plantations. We make numerous photo stops on the way before we arrive in Laomeng in the evening for dinner, which also is our starting point to further visits on the next day.

Day 8 Laomeng-Lvchun

After breakfast we will head once more into the hilly and remote area and drive to Laojizhai Town where we attend a further local street market, this time with another mix of ethnic people following different customs and having another style in clothes. We drive to Lvchun afterwards (about 3 hours), where we are already awaited to attend the so called Long-Street-Banquet. This outdoor festival usually takes place once a year on the tenth day of the tenth month of the lunar year (mostly November) and is held here by the Hani minority. Many people of Lvchun wear their costumes and silver accesories already today and get prepared for next day’s celebrations.

Day 9 Lvchun

After breakfast, we will head to the main celebration area of the Long-Street-Banquet in Lvchun where already thousands of tables are lined up next to each other, forming a long dragon-like row through the whole city. This celebration is the most important festival for many locals where they eat, dance and sing together. It is yet another great opportunity for visitors like us, getting a very special impression of south Yunnan’s customs, taking unique pictures of people, food and environment as well as to get an insight into south Yunnan’s minority and festival culture. The tables are crammed with a myriad of delicacies such as sticky rice, bacon, various appetizers, pickled vegetables as well as meat and gallons of rice wine. Enjoy your day!

Day 10 Lvchun-Kunming

The 2-day Dongchuan Red Land Tour is one of the famous Yunnan photography tours.    • Luoxiagou (Luoxia Valley): This is one of the best places to capture the sunset. The golden light during sunset reflects beautifully on the red soil and terraced fields, creating a magical view. Arrive at least 30 minutes before sunset to find a good spot.
   • Damakan Village: Another popular spot for sunset, with its terraced fields and rolling hills bathed in the evening light.

This morning, you will  drive about 30KM to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. upon arrival, you will take the sightseeing bus for a short visiting through the Baishuihe River, take the chairlift up to visit Spruce Meadow (3200m ) of  Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The cableway will be arranged according to the condition of the mountain. You will hike around 1 hour in the original forest in Yak Meadow(3700M).

And go to transfer to Baisha Old Town in the late afternoon. Pay a visit to Baisha Murals.

In the morning, visit the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Songzanlin Monastery has another alias – ‘the little Potala Palace ‘, so named because the whole monastery is in the traditional style with mysterious atmosphere. And afterwards you’ll visit the tranquil Bita Lake & Shudu Lake in Pudacuo National Park  which is located in one of the most biologically-diverse regions of the world. While the region comprises only 0.7 percent of China’s land area, it contains more than 20 percent of the country’s plant species, about one-third of its mammal and bird species and almost 100 endangered species.

Visit Dukezong Tibetan Ancient Town in the late afternoon, climb up to the top of Guishan Hill or tortoise Hill, you will see the largest Prayer Wheel of the world and have a panoramic view of shangrila county and Dukezong Ancient Town.

• 3 days Nanjiluo tour is a classic hiking  and photograph tour. The accommodations are not good enough as other tours, sometimes we need to camp in the mountain, so prepare for it both physically and psychologically.
