Pick you up at your hotel in Cangyuan County. Visit Wending Wa Ethnic Village this morining, you will enjoy the Wooden Drum Dance of Wa ethnic group in the village and experience the ethnic life with local people. Wengding Wa original herd small villages in Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County Weng small village, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, rich ethnic customs, Weng dingzhai retain the original architectural style and residential Wa Wa traditions of the original, is by far the most well-preserved primitive village herd, Lincang customs humanities is the must-tourism attractions.

In the late afternoon, drive to visit Menglai Grand Canyon. Menglai Grand Canyon is also called Thousand-Meter Gallery , situated at the middle part of the scenic spot. The rock paintings in the area is about 3KM. The cliff is about 80-180 meters high and the highest one is about 280 meters. Some of the cliff surface is ragged like a honeycomb, and some are flat and smooth as if cut by the axe, while some are just like the terraced fields.

Due to the erosion of some special materials and the decoration of the climbing plants, the surface the cliff becomes colorful just like a giant rock paintings reflecting the vicissitudes of the nature.

Visit Cangyuan Cliff Painting. The cliff paintings of Cangyuan is said to take on different colors as the time, weather and humidity change. According to the proverb of the local Wa and Thai people that the cliff painting changes three times a day: in the morning the color is red, at noon lighter and in the evening purple. Nowadays the paintings have already been designated as the key historical relic protection unit at the provincial level.

Day 2 Jinghong – Ganlanba – Daizuyuan (Dai Minority Garden)

After breakfast, you will ride about 33KM to visit Ganlanba Dai Minority Garden(橄榄坝傣族园) which  is located in the southeast direction of Jinghong. It is a dwelling place for Dai minority people cause they have lived there generations to generations. Thus, the dense Dai minority culture can be found here. Ganlanba can be a representative to experience both the minority culture and the tropical atmosphere. Because Ganlanba with the lowest altitude which is about 530m in Yunnan, it is the hottest place. The hot climate makes Ganlanba as a rich fruits production area. Ganlanba in Xishuangbanna culture means “the imperial gardening village”. Inside it, there are two large villages called Man Chun Man (means flowers village) and Man Ting (means fruits village) separately. No matter which village you choose to visit, you can appreciate the typical Myanmar temple and Dai bamboo house. Overnight in Daizuyuan.

The Bulang people have been inhabitants of the area for thousands of years. Zhang is elephant, and Lang means frozen in Dai language. Zhanglang is the place of elephants getting frozen. It enjoys long history, over a thousand years. It also keep the traditional culture and historic relics completely.

Day 1 Kunming to Dali by Train

Welcome to Kunming, the Spring City of China! Upon arrival at the Kunming airport/train station, the driver will meet you in the arrival hall and escort you to Kunming train station. You’ll take the speed train to Dali (2 hours).

Day 2 Dali-Weishan-Nianjian-Xiaowan

You will arrive in Dali this morning, the local tour guide and driver will meet you at Dali train station. After breakfast, you’ll be driven to visit Weishan Old Town. Weishan old town was the cradle of Nanzhao kingdom(a kindom established by Yi Minority), the history can be traced back to 7th century. Its a very nice old town and not touristic. It was a important town on the ancient tea and horse road. You will also enjoy the traditional Bai people’s building design. Then drive to Nanjian(6 hours), stop to visit Nanjian Tulin Tea Factory for few hours. Continue the driving to Xiangzhuqing village in Xiaowan township of Fengqing County. Pay a visit to Xiangzhuqing Acient Tea Trees)香竹箐古茶树). In Xiangzhuqing village, lies a massive, ancient tree. Colloquially referred to as the Mother tea tree, this magnificent giant is about 35 feet tall (which is extremely tall for a tea tree), and is so wide that it’s said that it takes eight people holding outstretched hands to full surround the tree. Besides her gargantuan size, this tree is also remarkable for its unmatched history. This ancient tree is recorded as being over 3,200 years old, it is called “the Mother of Tea Trees”.

Day 3 Fengqing

Drive from Xiaowan to Mengyou Township to visit the Xiashan Organic Tea Factory and tea plantation. After breakfast drive to Fengqing County, you can enjoy a tour of the Dianhong Tea Factory and tea plantation where you can taste the black tea and learn about the drying process of the tea leaves and the production. 

Day 4 Fengqing-Yunxian-Lincang

This morning, drive to Chafang Township(茶房乡) in Yunxian County to visit acient tea trees and tea plantation. Then drive to visit Dazhai Township(大寨镇)to visit acient tea trees and tea plantation. Day 5 Lincang-Mengku

In the early morning, drive to visit Mengku Township first, then drive to Bingdao village(冰岛), which is Luhu tribal village surrounded by green mountains and is the origin of the tea plantation in China. You will see several huge ancient tea trees over 2000 years old! You will have a chance to see this rare, unique village of the Lahu people. They are known to wear colorful, traditional clothes. 

You will stay overnight in Mengku Township.

Day 6 Mengku-Jingmai

This morning, drive about five and half an hour to Jingmai Mountain. Visit Jingmai Tea Mountain and have a look at the flow of  ‘tea bosses’ by climbing up the hill. Admire the ancient tea gardens, the largest of their kind in the world. Jingmai is situated deep in the Southwest corner of Yunnan Province. These ancient forests border Burma and hide smuggler trade routes still in use today. This biodiversity of the region and the nearly untainted old world methods and rituals of tea cultivation and harvesting make this area unique among world tea production. The Chinese government in 2013 applied for the “Ancient Tea Plantations of Jingmai Mountain” to become an UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are 4 grape wine and 2 coffee related World Heritage properties already, but none yet for tea. If any place in the world deserves it, Jingmai would be it. 

Day 7 Jingmai-Menghai County-Jinghong

Wake up and breathe fresh air in the mountain, experience local ethnic culture by walking around in Jingmai village. You could visit some families to learn tea processing.

Then drive about two and half an hour to visit the tea plantation of Nannuoshan Mountain in Menghai County. Nannuo Mountain is famous in China and abroad as the home of the “King of Tea Tree,” a human cultivated 800+ year old tree. Fine tea tree varieties and superior natural conditions produce outstanding Nannuo Mountain tea products. Nannuo Mountain Peacock tea is a 400 gram fresh Pu-erh cake. It possesses a green, glossy luster and has leaves and buds that are plump, strong, and tender. The strips of tea unfold with prominent fine hair. When brewed, the tea liquor is a bright golden yellow with a strong, but mellow and refreshing flavor. It has a sharp kougan(feeling in the mouth) and stimulates salivation. The tea has strong and distinctive aroma.

After that, drive to Jinghong City.

Day 8 Jinghong-Yiwu-Menglun

Today, you will head for Yiwu Town, a small town once boomed due to tea trade in the history, see the old part of town and the stele erected in Qing Dynasty that recorded the trade situation at that time. It is a main planting area of traditional Puer Tea. Visit the Yiwu Old Town, then pay a visit to local families that are still producing Pu’er Tea the traditional way. Afterwards, visit the tea mountains and plantation.

After that, visit Menglun Botanical Garden. Menglun Botanical Garden is in Menglun town of Menglai county around 80km away from Jinghong city, Menglun tropical botanical garden is the largest tropical botanical garden in China. It was established in 1959 by Chinese famous botanists including Prof. Cai Xitao, who devoted all his life to related scientific research with remarkable achievements. The garden boasts more than 4000 species of tropical plants covering an area of 900 hectares, quite a few of which are rare elsewhere, forming a colorful botanical landscape.

Day 9 Menglun-Jinghong-Puer

Drive from the west coast of Erhai Lake to Wase Town (挖色镇) on the east shore, then move on to Hongshan Forest Farm (红山林场) to start your hiking to the Submit of Jizu Mountain via Fengweijing Village(凤尾菁), Niujiaoshan Mountain(牛角山), Muxiangping(木香坪) and Taohuajing Village(桃花菁). 9:30: meet together at Dali Ancient Town and head for Hongshan Forest Farm(红山林场). On the way, enjoy the view of Xiaguan(下关) and Xiaoputuo(小普陀),  visit Wase(挖色) market and have lunch at Wase. Then, drive along the ancient pilgrimage road to Hongshan Forest Farm. 

1st Scenic Spot: Wase (1.5 hours drive) 
2nd Scenic Spot：Hongshan Forest Farm( 2 hours drive), head from Wase at about 13:30 and appriciate the charming sceneries along the ancient pilgrim road, upon the arrival, start your hike tour.
3rd Scenic Spot：Muxiangping(3 hours hike) via Niujiaoshan Mountain and Muxiangping Pasture with an overlook of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake on the west side, Xiangyun County on the east side.

Welcome to Kunming, the Spring City of China! Upon arrival at the Kunming airport/train station, the local driver will meet you in the arrival hall and escort you to Kunming train station. You’ll take overnight train to Dali.

Day 2 Dali-Weishan-Nianjian-Xiaowan

You will arrive in Dali this morning, the local tour guide and driver will meet you at Dali train station. After breakfast, you’ll be driven to visit Weishan Old Town. Weishan old town was the cradle of Nanzhao kingdom(a kindom established by Yi Minority), the history can be traced back to 7th century. Its a very nice old town and not touristic. It was a important town on the ancient tea and horse road. You will also enjoy the traditional Bai people’s building design. Then drive to Nanjian(6 hours), stop to visit Nanjian Tulin Tea Factory for few hours. Continue the driving to Xiangzhuqing village in Xiaowan township of Fengqing County. Pay a visit to Xiangzhuqing Acient Tea Trees. In Xiangzhuqing village, lies a massive, ancient tree. Colloquially referred to as the Mother tea tree, this magnificent giant is about 35 feet tall (which is extremely tall for a tea tree), and is so wide that it’s said that it takes eight people holding outstretched hands to full surround the tree. Besides her gargantuan size, this tree is also remarkable for its unmatched history. This ancient tree is recorded as being over 3,200 years old, it is called “the Mother of Tea Trees”.

Day 3 Xiaowan-Fengqing

Day 4 Fengqing-Yunxian-Lincang

Day 5 Lincang-Mengku-Lincang

This early morning, drive to Mengku Township first, then drive to Bingdao village(冰岛), which is Luhu tribal village surrounded by green mountains and is the origin of the tea plantation in China. Day 6 Lincang – Kunming by Airplane

This morning, visit Lincang Tea Culture and Customs Garden and Lincang tea factories. Here you will get to wander through this giant tea garden as well as learn deeper of the Chinese Yunnan tea culture. 

After you will visit the Lincang tea factory for lessons in Lincang’s Puer. What makes Lincang Puer different and unique to the other regions of Yunnan.

After traversing mountain ranges, you will make a short stop and have lunch at Benzilan town, take some shots on the First Bend of Jinsha(Yangtze) River, Dongzhulin Monastery and Baima (white horse) Snow Mountain. The view along the way is fantastic with different kinds of trees, streams down the valley, prayer flags and stupas, and Tibetan villages.

Day 2 Feilaisi – Mingyong Village – Mekong Grand Canyon – Benzilan – Shangri-La

(optional: You can choose to hire a horse to go up to the glacier on your own expense in order to save your energy).

Morning transfer to visit Golden Temple, which is located at the top of Phoenix Song Mountain, about 11km from Kunming. The roof of the Daoist temple is made from copper and in the sunlight it glistens like gold. Inside the temple there are Buddhist statues, inscribed boards, beams, pillars, well-screens and other decorations, which are all made of bronze.

Later, have a tour of the Western Hills and Dragon Gate, 15 kilometers from Kunming downtown, which are actually a range consisting of four mountains: Biji, Luohan, Huating, and Taiping. Viewed from a distance, the skyline of the Western Hills’ forest reserve resembles a beautiful maiden reclining leisurely alongside of Dianchi Lake with her long hair drifting casually in the mirror-like water. Go through the Dragon Gate, the steepest spot in the Western Hills and well worth climbing up the winding old stone stairs because the view is spectacular.
