Liyuan New Village‌, Zhongcun Township, Lufeng City, Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province

Located in Zhongcun Township, Lufeng City, Chuxiong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, ‌Liyuan New Village‌ is a resettlement village established for residents relocated due to the construction of the Xihe Reservoir. It houses 84 households totaling 322 people, approximately 84% of whom belong to the ‌Lisu ethnic group‌. Residents moved in before the Spring Festival in 2016.

Following resettlement, the village’s infrastructure has significantly improved. New roads, a cultural activity square, a painted cultural corridor, a village history museum, and the “‌Water Town Lisu Village‌” gate have been built, enhancing the living environment for relocated residents. In 2022, it passed the acceptance inspection for the “Beautiful Home Relocation New Village” project. The village is now tidy and orderly, having been rated as a ‌Provincial-Level Hygienic Village‌ and a ‌Model Village for Ethnic Unity and Progress‌.

Economically, villagers have achieved prosperity through ‌working outside the village‌ (e.g., over 60 people organized annually to work in factories in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, etc., earning an average annual income of 60,000-70,000 yuan per person) and ‌local industries‌ (including embroidery workshops, tofu workshops, liquor brewing workshops, and flower cultivation). This ensures the goal of “‌resettling successfully, stabilizing livelihoods, and achieving development‌.”

Cultural activities‌ are a highlight of the village. During the annual ‌Kuo Shi Festival‌ (the Lisu people’s most important traditional festival, equivalent to the Han Chinese Spring Festival), intangible cultural heritage performances are held. These include dances and songs like “Relocated People Grateful to the Party” and “Lisu Wedding Ceremony,” hulusi (gourd flute) performances, and the traditional stunt “‌Walking on Knives and Through Fire‌.” The 2024 festivities attracted over 3,000 participants, showcasing the charm of the Lisu people’s ‌original ecological culture‌.

The village enjoys ‌social harmony and stability‌, with a strong atmosphere of ethnic unity and a high sense of fulfillment among residents. 90% of households have been rated as “‌Ten-Star Civilized Households‌,” and there have been no major public security incidents. It stands as a ‌model for rural revitalization‌.
