A Bustling Scene in Spring

Spring is in the air, and the fragrance of tea fills the atmosphere. Currently, Mengdong Town in Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County has entered the spring tea picking season, showcasing a bustling scene amidst the green mountains and clear waters.

Lush Organic Tea Gardens

Winding along the mountain roads, the vast organic tea gardens of Mangbai, located at an altitude of over 1,500 meters, present a lush green landscape, with the refreshing aroma of tea wafting through the air. Rows of tea trees grow among the mountains and forests, their new buds brimming on the branches. Under the bright spring sun, tea farmers navigate through the layers of tea plants, racing against time to harvest the new tea.

A Time for Community and Income

From March to May each year, the Mangbai tea mountains are at their busiest. Tea farmers come together to pick tea, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful spring scenery while earning a living right at their doorstep.

Sustainable Practices and Quality

“Our tea garden is managed without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Although the yield is slightly lower, the quality is exceptional,” says Xiao Ni Re, a villager from Mangbai in Mengdong Town. He manages over 20 acres of tea garden, working with tea enterprises to cultivate and care for the tea plants, which not only increases his income but also teaches him agricultural skills. “I used to lack the skills and couldn’t earn money working elsewhere. Now that I’ve learned these techniques, I can work at home, and everyone feels that life is getting better day by day.”

Economic Impact

In 2023, it was reported that the tea enterprise Bi Liyuan in Mangbai Village had a revenue of 60.37 million yuan, with an average disposable income of 20,300 yuan per tea farmer and a collective income of 372,000 yuan for the village. For 2024, the enterprise’s revenue is projected to reach 68 million yuan, with an average disposable income of 25,000 yuan for tea farmers and a collective income of 450,000 yuan for the village.

Commitment to Ecological Development

In recent years, Mengdong Town has adhered to the path of ecological and organic development in the tea industry, focusing on enhancing tea quality and yield. The town has continuously improved the construction, management, and processing levels of organic tea gardens, earnestly implementing the requirements for building party branches in border areas.

Promoting Rural Revitalization

They have further promoted the “Hundred Enterprises Linking Villages” initiative to empower rural revitalization and deepened the expansion of the “Party Organization + Company + Cooperative + Farmers” development model, establishing a “dual binding” mechanism for the interests of farmers and enterprises.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

The partnership between village and enterprise party organizations has been strengthened. Companies have provided support through capital investment, technical assistance, and talent cultivation, while the community participates in industry development through land investment, labor, cultivation, and performance assessments. This collaboration transforms “small tea leaves” into “golden leaves,” achieving a “four-gold” model for the income of both village collectives and farmers. This plays a significant role in the continuous growth of agricultural output value and contributes to rural revitalization.
